Status
Just when I think I've became zen with PHP, I hit something like this:
-
STATUS Back to the bike shed!
Designer : I would like a border around these widgets
Me: Like this?
Designer : No! That's ugly. No the old way. Like this.
Me: That would triple the amount of composites and we already have a handle problem
Tech Lead : Make it happen.
Me Motherfucker!!Naturally that last bit was internal but I have a feeling that we might be wandering into gmf territory soon.

STATUS
As usual, the best summary of Apple's event is in CodeProject's email newsletter.

Status: It's back, baby!
When the forum goes down, does it still display "The Real WTF is Discourse" or is that message updated?
-
@OffByOne The image still says 'Discourse'. Which, to be fair, is accurate :)
-
Discourse is a WTF of ginormous proportions indeed, but to be fair, you can't blame it for NodeBBcooties, right?
-
Yes.
It may not be an accurate reason, but when has that ever stopped us? ;)
-
Since we realized not accurate reasons are the antithesis of a pendantic dickweedish lifestyle? ;)
-
Correction: since when has being wrong stopped those of us who weren't in the eternal pursuit for s? :P
-
Status: So I can delete a post then edit it, but saving the edit doesn't undelete; you have to do that manually.
-
Thanks for that mail.com
-
@DogsB They must use Rails, which has that as its default “fuck, I've thrown an exception but need to tell the user something” message.

Look mate, the error is 11 levels into the exception stack, fuck if I know!
-
What?
I think Blakey deleted it.
Incidentally I'm having the opposite problem to Blakey's zoom problem on the front page.
100% zoom
110% zoom

You know you're spending too much time here when you see this picture on the sky news youtube channel and your first thought is @Polygeekery has really stepped up his game.
-
-
@cartman82 at least they didn't legally change your name to Fnu Mohammad.
To quote John Oliver, Fnu is fnot a fnucking fname.
-
@Nocha's Hungry Hungry Hippo is not good at catch.

-
Status: why the fuck does everyone in my environment pronounce "app" as "ey pee pee"? Do they think it's an initialism?
-
Hoping that the @area_bel members are allright
-
@anonymous234 I don't believe you.
-
I'm half a (small) country away ... but even here ... stuff is closing down
-
@JazzyJosh I don't know how to respond to that.
-
Status: must pay more attention to details of contract when implementing other people's interfaces.
After much pain and on the point of giving up on RowMapper and just extracting the various values on the fly, I reread the javadoc and discovered that
.mapRow(Resultset rs, int rowNum)
is supposed to map the current row.

Status: planning a camping trip with two friends who never went camping.
it's kind of fun to see how they get lost at things i take for granted.Friend1: i have this backpack it's big, i think it should be enough
Jarry: let me see.... (it's the backpack he uses to carry his laptop)
Jarry: uhm, we'll have to get you a real hiking backpack
-
Status: all 202 of the CS attachments have been imported. There was a 203rd, but it was a one-byte file with a weird name, so I skipped it.
-
@Jarry we're going to a city that was underwater for 20 years
:D
-
@ben_lubar anything worth noting?
-
@Jarry there were some important images in there, like the first wooden table.

Mother fucking hell! 4 bugs

Status: Probably going to have to see about doing a repair of some sorts for Windows 10 on my work PC. The Windows Store now refuses to open, and the whole host of "fixes" I could find don't work, including one that ends up prompting this box:
Good thing we're planning on taking a long lunch today.

Ah, so that's why you keep posting links I just saw.......
-
FUCKOFF!!!

Status: while it doesn't seem to be as bad as Discourse, it seems that browsing on NodeBB also likes to suck on the battery:

Lol, that's barely the right size for a quick hike, right?

At least you're still in Desktop mode, you literally can't see the dialog in Mobile.

Though I don't use any UWP apps, so it's to me.

You just proportionally more efficient in browsing so that you put legitimate load on the phone?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Or that.I read and wrote more stuff for the power used, that's for sure.

It definitely lost where I was in this thread. I had to scroll up about 100 posts to find something I remembered having already read.

I didn't have to be in Brussels today and live far enough away from that city, so I'm fine. Thanks for caring though!

Status: The "Go To First Unread Post" button appears to be a jelly potato button instead.

Barely. And awfully small for a 6hs hike with everything you need to be two nights in the middle of nothing

Now the forum's going to crash, hope you're happy.

Status: The boss spent quite a bit of today phoning people in Brussels to see if they were OK, having been there yesterday for a meeting. I really hope they catch the rest of this cell of scum.
-
Status: You know how NodeJS is single-threaded? Well, a t2.medium instance has 4 processors. So let's run 4 NodeJSes.
-
@ben_lubar This is the Status thread, not the Bad Ideas thread…
-
@ben_lubar Ah, was that the reason for the brief 502?
