it's not easy, but don't do that. say you're out of town for the weekend, or something. otherwise, you might end up like @Weng. have you seen that breakroom? have you?
Hey, our breakroom is nice and has a proper coffee machine!
Eh, as long as they don't make it into a habit I'll be fine. Besides I've had nearly zero motivation to work for the last couple of days, basically spending half a day fucking around, so I guess it's a nice opportunity to make up for that.
-
Well, depending on how you look at it, that might be the problem. If it is twins that will bring us up to 5 kids.
On the other hand, if you look at the odd parity as just applying to my wife, with my current luck, it would have probably resulted in triplets.
-
yeah...
he didn't mean to hurt me. i deserved it, etc etc.
at least you'll have material for the frontpage
-
Enough to start your own hockey team!
Congrats, btw.
-
So my wife suspected she's pregnant.
WHY ARE YOU ALL PEOPLE BREEDING ALL OF A SUDDEN
(also, congratulations!)

it's not that bad, my father has managed to not have a breakdown.
and we all came ok( well, i'm a developer, but yeah, pretty ok)

Database I'm now in charge of consists of VARCHAR(500) for every key.

Yeah, I haven't decided if I want to go through the hassle of setting up controls. May let it sit for a bit. See what he does.
Or you could do what I do and just not visit Facebook. You wouldn't be missing much.

False.

I don't have a Facebook account, but I needed an API key to make the WtfWebApp test site work. So I asked my dad.

On a scale of John Travolta to Snoop Dogg how high do you think John McAfee is right now?

That was a cool email! The vs addons are nice. Alive looks like it'll make vs into lighttable!

Sorry, interpretation failure. Is this a joke?

No seriously, the email you got filtered away had some cool VS addons in one of the articles it linked. I got the same email.

Oh. Well I don't typically read articles... Wait.... ;)

That's a sad life.

That's a sad life.
I know! And I already spent the $10/mo in the budget bin marked "for random donations to internet users" too!

I have twice that much budgeted for my dragon-border license plate cover, but I haven't found one for sale.
Status: I can't work uninterrupted at home because annoying lawmower neighbors, I can't work uninterrupted at work because annoying co-workers who keep asking questions because apparently I'm the only one here capable of independent thought. How the fuck do I get this shit done? Goddamned. I'm going to end up losing a day of vacation to this stupid shit for this stupid client because of my own stupid co-workers.
I guess this is why so many programmers like working at 2:00 AM.
On the plus side, I got my boss to buy-in to doing it the lazy-as-fuck way, opening up a new database transaction for every goddamned user (5000 or more), because refactoring the code to not be retarded would take way too long. Also got permission to eschew the unit tests, because nobody's ever done any unit test stuff on this piece of code before and in a full DAY of writing unit test infrastructure, I still don't have working tests. Ugh.

Status: I can't work uninterrupted at home because annoying lawmower neighbors,
Can you work while listening to music? I have a couple of Spotify playlists that you'd be welcome to. My neighbour has a dog he keeps outside that barks for about 10 hours straight. Makes headphone almost mandatory.
-
I can't wear headphones for more than an hour or so without them getting way too uncomfortable. And you can't find "noise cancelling speakers" in non-headphone form. Probably for good physics-related reasons.

I have some Sennheisers that are over-ear, its not perfect but they don't get painful after a few hours. The price is pretty extreme although they sound great.

Yes yes I've tried like 50,000 brands and models, I can't do headphones.

Status: IT is evil. Not only do I have to disable the proxy once every 30 days to get VS to refresh its activation, I can't even try out Alive!
Look at this! There's even a slider for loops! But it has to activate, even to enable the trial, so it gets noped. Even messing up the proxy doesn't help.
-
Alive!
Whatever you do, this is critically important, don't link to the product so other people might be able to find it.
(Based on like 4 Google searches until I found the right keywords, I think this is the Alive! we're talking about. Looks like it's all keyed off unit tests, meaning it's useless for the projects I touch.)
-
Naw, they stated that the preferred entry points are unit tests.
But you can also use it directly:
Find a (preferably static) method that accepts no parameters or simple parameters such as string, integer[], double, etc.
-
has to activate, even to enable the trial,
Wot, no offline activation
What is the internet coming to?!
-
Nothing in our entire codebase accepts "simple" parameters.
-
Ah, I see:
static int IncrementByOne(DefaultFactoryWorkerFactoryToCreateAWorkerToGetAnInteger i) { return i+1; }
it is then!
-
It all deals with healthcare subscribers. Dependents, SpendingAccountTypes, PlanEnrollments, etc.
The only bits that use "simple" parameters are the POCOs that output this stuff to JSON.

Status: Huh. This conversation seems familiar...
Is it normal for users of StackOverflow to ignore the question entirely for the sake of pushing their own ideals?
Summarized, my question was: "Why doesn't WebAPI return anything when I give it a Generic object",
and the response was "I think you should rewrite your code to send all the data to the client and let it do what it wants and not page the data on the server by the way use my fork its better lawls and don't return an actual object just returnobject
and heres some other stuff you can do withList<dynamic>
that has nothing to do with the question trololololo"
-
I don't know, its getting an array of IComparable in that demo, and is able to guess some parameters that it can demo with. I don't know how good it is, but I really wanted to try it.
They even have a demo of it reading a csv and using that!
Still, I wanted to try it to find out, so I guess I'll do that when I get home

Yes.

(also [something weird], which made sense at the time)
Every aspect of every dream ever, tbh

twins
Listen, the nice thing about twins is you only have to go through pregnancy once, but you get a bonus kid at the end. It's efficient.
Well, that's what I told my wife.
-
How the fuck do I get this shit done?
Go to Starbucks or the library (or similar).
I guess if you were willing to spend money you could--oh, wait, this isn't the help category, never mind.
-

No, no, he explicitly asked a question, it's OK to answer, so long as it's not seen as providing "help".

Have you thought about shooting your neighbor? You are American, right? Just shoot him. If he's a minority, no one will care anyways. If he's white, you could say he was brainwashed by ISIS-- or eat the body or something.
