Had sushi about an hour ago
If you had put a ;) there, I would think you were speaking euphemistically.

Alas, no involved, just Japanese cuisine from a supermarket.

Status: Got told I was being laid off just before daily scrum meeting. I think one of the new guys on my team doesn't understand some things.
So what are you doing before the next meeting?
Filling in the deploy paperwork for something that just went to QA so someone can do it for me as I get laid off if I don't find somewhere else (in a company that is doing layoffs) to go.
You what?
๏ Congrats!
[thinking] probably a ESL thing
Oh, OK there should be an email going around at some point letting people know but I'm not getting any more projects done.
Uh...
I recommend talking to the On Call organizer cause I'm scheduled as secondary right now, first next week, then second the week after. [stuff about running trainings]after the meeting
๏ Congrats again!
sigh

๏ Congrats!
Maybe he was congratulating you on getting promoted to Customer? That's what we called them in the last high-turnover company I worked in...
Status: Still the only one who can design, build, promote to test, and deploy this thing. It's getting kinda tiring and maybe a little lonely...

Alas, no involved, just Japanese cuisine from a supermarket.
There is a quick sushi place that opened here. Think sushi meets Subway. I met with the owners and they showed me the secret to the operation. One of these:
The sushi is quite good (good, fresh, ingredients) and that sushi robot is even cooler than it appears in their videos.

If there is not a queue, you can get freshly sushi made to order in ~5 minutes door to door.
Try #2

Damn you @Maciejasjmj
Just think of it being served on @Lorne_Kates' hot naked body. It'll help.

Status: Spent the last 2 hours creating a quick and dirty program that's gonna to save one of our data ops guys like 2 days of work. Just finished testing about 5 scenarios with it.
Now asking my boss for permission to build the program.

Now asking my boss for permission to build the program.
Lets hope he approves the thing you've already done, eh?
I can't wait to propose the process monitor page I've built and used for the last four months (but haven't gotten approvals yet for).

Just in case, I zipped up a copy and put it in my network drive outside of source control.
Now to struggle with our shitty yo-yo-ing VPN server.

Oh well. I told him I'd be available all weekend and now shutting down the laptop.

Pay off a credit card with itself? I've never tried, but somehow I don't think that will work...
Credit card != line of credit. It isn't unheard of to get a line of credit with a low interest rate, and pay off a high-interest balance on a credit card.
Um... Y'all realize you don't just gain powers by putting on a costume, right?
No, I don't think all furries realize that.

uninstall... Creative Cloud...
But you can't uninstall the Cloud. The Cloud is always there, always available. It is the Lord God Saviour of Man.
Guess what you can do, though:
deltree c:/program files/Adobe
Let's see a background process start after that.

IE and Edge? Eastbourne. 275 miles away.
@RaceProUK has just doxxed herself! We now know she lives in the UK! TIME TO SEND SOME PIZZAS!
Edge always thinks I'm in Eastbourne too. Makes the local weather on the default home page pretty useless.
Yeah, but you're in England. If the local weather doesn't have you down to the city block, the weather report is pretty useless.
Your shitty little island has no IT industry.
wat? They own an entire industry of IT workers. It's called "India".
This has been another episode of "Lorne bashes England for literally no good reason".

'guuuuuuuuuuuuh what do I do first'
First you list out what you need to do in small, manageable tasks. Pick the first, and do it. Then the second. And so on.
-
Just think of it being served on @Lorne_Kates' hot naked body. It'll help.
That is not how I serve sushi. You need to keep Sushi cool. I take an ice bath first, THEN serve it naked on me. It's all about courtesy for your guests.
Plus, if you don't treat them right, they'll dip parts of you in wasabi that shouldn't be dipped in wasabi.

Nah, that's where all the call centres are. Well, the ones that haven't been set up in Newcastle, anyway.

WUUT? blakey working for free like a FOSS hipster? NO
Well I will be working during the weekend too :sigh:
Status: No Boss, WDT cannot save the SD card from failure, it might help mitigating the damage if power surge results in an infinite loop, but no guarantee there. If there is a hardware problem it is the circuits that need fixing, not always software is to blame.

balance on a credit card.
Oh. Well that would make sense, but I only have, like, $28 in my current card, I don't have any others, so that's why I got confused.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe some of you guys should start a support topic once the NodeBB migration is done.

It hardly matters; either way, nobody can understand a word the hell desk flunky says.

Makes the local weather on the default home page pretty useless.
For half a year, we had the weather forecast on our infoscreens as a static message: "windy, likely showers". No-one ever noticed. I guess you could run with that message across most of the UK as well.

If you wanted to use a single word to describe UK weather, โchangeableโ would be it. You'd be right about 90% of the timeโฆ

This movie is amazing. It's a spoof of the stereotypical saucer invasion movie-- MADE IN 1957! That's before the stereotypical saucer invasion movie was even a stereotype yet.
EDIT: and that's why the plot feels so familiar. According to Wiki:
In 1965, self-professed "schlockmeister" Larry Buchanan cheaply remade Invasion of the Saucer Men in color as The Eye Creatures, a made-for-television feature for AIP-TV.
Attack of The The Eye Creatures (MST3K gold) is a ripoff/remake of it.

What ancient machine do you have lying around that only has that much RAM in it?
This a a brand new (Well, out of box, turned on and that's about it) Gateway M675 Desktop Replacement Laptop. It has:
- 90 Gb PATA Hard Disk
- 512 Mb RAM (2 Sticks of 256 Mb DDR1 SoDIMM)
- Intel Pentium 4 Single-Core CPU with Hyper Threading @ 3.oo GHz
- Windows XP Home OEM Preinstalled
- AMD Radeon Mobile Graphics (9600/9700 series), VGA and S-Video out (Not simultaneous), 128 Mb.
- LCD Display 1440x900x32
- 100 Mb LAN
- 802.11G Wifi (Broadcom)
- 56k Modem
- Parallel Port
- DVD-RW burner
- Secondary HD expansion slot (Currently unpopulated)
- PCMCIA Slot
- 4 USB 2.0 ports
BS, fine, Discourse, don't upload this 4 MB picture. Whatever, it's just a snap of the unit. It's nothing special, if not obnoxiously large.
-
Was @Lorne_Kates selling off some of his extra machines?
-
extra machines?
This was part of a group of recovered stuff from an old lady's garage. Besides this there's another gateway (1.6 GHz Dual-core Celeron, 1 GB Ram), but that at least can run Windows 10.
There was also a desktop PC, Pentium II with (I think) 128 MB ram. I slapped Windows XP on it for kicks, but the graphics card (Matrox) wasn't recognized like, at all. And another desktop that was slightly worse. Also: Discourse barely runs at all on this machine (the 512 Mb one).
Turns out, you need more than a nice fast CPU for these things...
-
Desktop Replacement
Yeah... at best, it might replace a desk top.
-
replace
To be fair, this beast is frickin' huge. It's bigger than my Vaio Flip 17' unit. Also discovered that it doesn't support Stepping in the CPU, but it almost appears that the CPU is user-replaceable.
Almost considering it, actually. What's the max RAM we have available for DDR1 again? This might almost make a good homework PC...Battery: 50% after 50 minutes, so 1%/min.
Since the CPU can't ever scale down, I guess that's the going-rate then.
Also, not bad for such an old battery. The other Gateway's battery is shot (though to be fair it was actually used).
