Do you need a groupie?
Is that like a selfie, except in a group?
(in other words... A PICTURE)

Status: So it turns out those Navy crews detained by Iran were actually in Iranian waters. Also it turns out that those Americans kidnapped in Baghdad were kidnapped from a brothel.
So, uh. US not looking too good this week.

Status: Finally trying @Lorne_Kates' fried cheese stuff. Well, mostly. Planning to make taco shells out of it.

The default weapon is a log. This guy has upgraded to a rock shaped like two wolf heads. I wanted to link the log version, but work blocked it.

Why the purple fur cape?
... and why is his fly undone? Oh God. Is this a homo game? You could talk Fox into playing it.

Nah, it's just that all the characters, male or female, are always like that. Equal opportunity oversexualization. Usually that set is red, though. It's essentially an MMO that plays like DMC. The content at lv60+ is quite cool. Especially the Pirates of the Caribbean ripoff area. It even has ripoff music during the bossfights there.

Status: Driver BSOD finally solved. Our user-mode API was passing a null pointer to the kernel driver which happily tried to dereference it. The question is now how the did that EVER work because the code hasn't changed in several years...
-
Status: I have defeated Spotify. And by 'defeated' I mean 'found an obscure band it doesn't know about'. I thought I had it when I searched for Ore Ska Band, but it even had that. What finally worked? Guitar Vader.

did that EVER work
It didn't. The code just never properly branched to that part of its logic before now.

Unlikely. Handling a hardware interrupt on our hardware is something that happens all the time.
Our working theory at the moment is that somehow structs were aligned just right for the correct value to accidentally be dereferenced, but something somewhere else changed and now the thing that was clearly wrong is now functionally wrong, too.

That thing might as well be designed to be as slow as possible
Um...it kind of is... Like it's not intentionally designed to have the worst performance possible, but it's designed as a simple but not necessarily efficient reference for other algorithms to compare against.
-
Is it really that hard? I've found a handful of artists not in Spotify's catalog and I'm not a music hipster or anything. (Although I do have somewhat eclectic tastes)
-

But to me, something like selection sort is much more intuitive than bubble.
Like, if I knew nothing about sorting algorithms and had to write one from scratch, I'd probably come up with something like selection sort. Bubble sort wouldn't even cross my mind.
-
Right, it isn't intended to be used in the real world.
It's simple and is fairly "worst-case" in performance (O(n²)), so it's good to learn in college or to benchmark other algorithms against on reference data.

The station here that plays only local Seattle music plays a lot of tracks I want to share on the forum, only to be defeated when it turns out they are (AFAICT) not online anywhere at all. Not YouTube, not MySpace, nowhere.
Today's was The Standard by Bryan Free.
-
-
Sheesh, how do you get on air with absolutely no way to hear recordings of your music online? That's weird.
-
I only have an HD Radio in my car. Because I'm not paying fucking $60 for another piece of plastic to waste space on my desk, and the HD Radio consortium of out-of-touch old guys refuses to allow anybody to sell a HD Radio receiver on a USB stick.
-
It's 107.7's alt station. 107.7 used to pride themselves on finding obscure acts and (in particular) being the first station to air Nirvana. Of course now they only play Top 40 bullshit. Actually "Top 40" implies more variety than they ever play, they play maybe 20 different tracks a day, max. Total shit.
Their HD Radio alternative station, however, is FUCKING AMAZING. Ad-free. Run by a robot, so it's DJ jabber-free as well. Plays literally nothing but local tracks from local groups, of pretty much every genre except reggae, country-western and classical.
-
HD Radio receiver on a USB stick.
IKR? WTF is that Sh*t?Might try writing a letter. It's very likely a standardized audio stream they send to their broadcasting antenna, unless by local you mean "They actually have a bona fide antenna on the roof".
Even then, it might not be difficult to get them to set up a stream...

I'm 99% sure the HD Radio consortium of out-of-touch old guys doesn't allow HD (alt) radio stations to be streamed over the web. At least, none of the local stations stream theirs over the web, and there has to be a reason for it.
EDIT: it's technically possible to make one, here's one that operated off a iPod's expansion port thingy: http://www.amazon.com/RadioShack-Gigaware-HD-Radio-Receiver/dp/B004CSXBRA/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1453161960&sr=1-5&keywords=HD+radio If it can do that,it can do USB.
I'm guessing the consortium of out-of-touch old guys in charge of HD Radio are terrified that if their audio stream ever enters a general purpose computer, gasp, it might be RECORDED! iPods are fine, though.
-
iPods are fine, though.
Which is funny, because IIRC I can get my iPod to record stuff...
Edit: Though it's for iPod Touch or similar, that might be different....

Status: Saddened by what modern "science" has come to. The fathers of science are probably spinning in their graves. http://www.nature.com/news/italian-papers-on-genetically-modified-crops-under-investigation-1.19183
-
That's what happens when science is funded by those with vested interests instead of academics seeking knowledge…
-
I can disprove "genetically modified plants are more dangerous than normal plants" without using science or math. All I need is predicate logic. Here, you try:
Given:
- genetically modified plants are more dangerous than normal plants
- all organisms are genetically modified
- all plants are organisms
Prove:
- there is a contradiction
-
Do note that I think bubble sort is the most logical choice in the game, given the instruction set you're working with. You could probably use insertion sort or something, but fuck that jazz.
Actually... given the way the game works, I guess I could've just created a new array and used max(). See, if I was never quizzed on this shit this would probably be my first idea...
Wait, you can assign at index, and not just push? Fucking hell, spent like an hour trying to break it...

Status: I have defeated Spotify. And by 'defeated' I mean 'found an obscure band it doesn't know about'.
Like King fucking Crimson. Or Tool. Some damn obscure bands those are.
-
It certainly isn't forbidden, one of the stations here does it. But it does cost extra license fees paid to the RIAA, plus bandwidth, so if the ad money isn't there they naturally won't do it.

Fucking space peasants are everywhere.
Oh yeah? Well Joseph Stalin comes every time you use a tab.

VGM
Goddamit wharrrgarble using acronyms without defining them.
What's a VGM? I'm asking for a friend.

You probably don't want to hear that the temp exceeded 60 today in Dallas, then.

So it turns out those Navy crews detained by Iran were actually in Iranian waters.
Yeah, because apparently their boat may have had a malfunction and drifted--or at least that was the possibility offered a couple days ago.
Hey, you know what happens when a military ship sans power drifts into territorial waters? Civilized countries recognize its sovereignty and don't board it and kidnap the crew.

Oh relax. They weren't "kidnapped", they were detained for 15 hours, treated well, and released unhurt along with all of their equipment. (Sans the SIM cards in their satellite phones for some reason.)
OMG IRAN IS LIKE MEGA SUPER HITLER AND SATAN ALL ROLLED INTO ONE OMG OMGOMG! Christ. Relax. It's not a big deal, for them or for us.

It's not a big deal, for them or for us.
That's what you learned to tell yourself all those times you got swirlied in high school, right?
-
Spotify usually doesn't have furry music producers, either.

As it rightfully should not.

No, music is more important than the chaotic din spewed forth from Spotify's libraries.
-
Lucifer wrought the four-space "indent" in the fires of the Seventh Circle.
I'm relatively agnostic on the number of spaces in an indent. I just don't want 0x09s in my text files on disk. You wanna press tab to indent/outdent, that's fine with me, just convert to spaces on file save.

Since when did Spotify complete the switchover to an all-furry catalog?
