Another terrible project full of bugs
-
Have we now officially hijacked this thread and turned it into an expose over scandinavian weird fish habits?
Are any of the fish full of bugs?
-
I personally read EVERY bug here: https://meta.discourse.org/c/bug?order=op_likes&status=open some quite a few times. I also read all the closed bugs. So I am not sure where you are manufacturing your objection from.
Mr. Atwood here claimed that what Android did (mass close bugs with hundreds of stars, valid bugs) is OK. It's not. That's the objection.
For once we were not talking about Discourse.
-
I wanted to see why you thought bug trackers are so awesome, but Discourse got in the way.

It's OK, if Discourse cooperated it wouldn't have helped. I think they were awesome because they don't automatically cause the developers to act on a bug entered into the system.

You are going to love 'lutfisk' then. Fish cured by dipping it in lye and then leave it out to dry for half a year, then brought back to life by soaking it in water. It is like eating a glass of water, and is considered a christmas speciality. Can't for the life of me figure out why!
Sea urchin roe to me has a similar flavor. I tried it at a sushi place once to see what the big deal was (a lot of people like it for some reason). It was like eating seawater.
-
At least you didn't have those comments silently deleted by the admins.
-
No, but my hovercraft is full of eels.
-
I guess they would be if you don't apply the lye properly, but TRWTF is the fish itself. Turns out fish has been sweden's staple food for at least the past 500 years, so no wonder if it got a bit weird on occasion. Only in the past 50 years or so have we imported gastronomical supernovae such as pizza, kebab, and tacos.
-
I thought it was interesting that after a certain date (say 2 years), all old bugs are just discarded. To me this makes sense
Now that 1.1 has shipped, we eagerly await the arrival of Discourse 0.8.
-
Did I mention your name somewhere?
What the hell. Some random person jumping into some random conversation and assuming it's all about them. Chill that ego, man, the world doesn't revolve around your fat ass.
I think you just broke the Internet with irony.

i'm pretty sure i felt the earth shake.... either that or they hit the LP line again in the construction site down on commercial St.. they made a bit of a bang last time they did that.....

Que?
I assume LP means liquid propane in this context. Unless we're talking some kind of conveyor system for transporting vinyl records.
-

Being a construction pedant, are we sure that it was LP then? Seems more likely to be a CNG line. Unless there is one gigantic tank somewhere?
-

this is what i meant.

it's a greenish copper line about 2.5mm across. the part that exits the ground and goes into the building almost always has a light coating of frost on it even though it's entering an office building, and it went bang with remarkable alacrity when the construction equipment accidentally hit and ruptured it.
that sounds like LP to me more than CNG, but i'm no expert.
-

Likewise, although they rarely go bang...and when they do then you really have issues.

yep. i'm told the plume of fire and smoke when it went bang was quite impressive.
alas i was on the wrong side of the building to see it, and had my headphones on so missed most of the excitement.

Wait, WTF ?!?
Ok, who hacked @blakeyrat's account??
-
Damn, it's still there, probably because he's probably not on the site right now. I wonder if he meant to click the link button and didn't notice. It surely can't be that he's decided to come in out of the cold.
-
Maybe it's a Christmas miracle?
-
-
He'll probably try tomorrow to say he was drunk.
At around 8:30AM PST, give or take an hour?
-

-
EXCELLENT DISCOURSE I CAN'T SUBMIT A POST WITH LOTS OF WORDS ALL IN CAPS BECAUSE THAT'S INVALID BUT A SINGLE EMOJI IS FINE?
<fake tag>
-
Does that mean he'll be leveling up?
-
Y'know, that was my first reaction too...
-
Ok, who hacked @blakeyrat's account??
Admins can "impersonate" a user, effectively by being logged into their account. However, I don't see any evidence of such a thing happening in the logs.
-
I don't think there's an admin here silly enough to provoke the BlakeyWrath like that.
-
Is it just me or did the entire forum go awfully quiet while people are desperately trying to readjust their world view?
...or are they just working on their ante-hangover?
-
-
It's been a slow week so far
vacationitis. it's the only explanation
but what if it's lupus
Shut up! it's never lupus!

You know what Jeff there are bugs that crop up on phones that have been there since before Froyo and they do come up to bit developers in the ass and I have to waste time proving it is a Android bug rather than a bug in the web app which wastes dev time.
I wonder how many thousands of man days are down the toilet because of such attitudes.

too many.
as a dev you need to have your ego wait outside when you come to work.
it's a rare skill, but one worth cultivating.

When I come to disco land, I bring it with me :D
-
When I come to disco land, I bring it with me
is disco land where you work?\
if not then more power to you!
-
No it's because I was foolishly using this site on my Windows Phone and it takes 57,000 hours to render even the simplest thing so you tap a reply button or whatever but it turns out the browser was locked-up and once it refreshed the click was in a totally different location. I didn't notice that one in time to undo it.
In short: it doesn't count. I hate you all.
-
In other news, I am still using Chrome Canary exclusively and still have yet to find a bug.
-
Fuck. I've been hit by this bug before. I tried to post this:
http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/cant-even-shoot-the-messenger/6785
But discourse won't let you see it. Because instead of posting it to the sidebar like it should have, it probably forgot to put a category on it, which no one but admins can see here. I've messaged @PJH, so hopefully he'll move it.
The last time this happened, I tried to recreate my post, but it wouldn't let me because the titles were the same. Fuck.
-
I've messaged @PJH, so hopefully he'll move it.
Pfffffffbt. Simple fix. Let's make everyone an admin. What's the worst that could happen? Then we could all fix our own stuff.
-
In short: it doesn't count. I hate you all.
How about your other three likes? Do they count?
-

Those were when he was making his way through the last of the quaaludes. So...no.
-
Oh... Oh.
I thought I was special...
(sob)

Awwww, someone's got a case of the Mondays! And it's a really bad one, since it's Wednesday.
