It actually took me longer than it should people who don't know Latvian.

Ouch, 4.5V! Don't electrocute anyone, eh?
Pretty good idea hereabouts though.

Back in my day (80s mostly), 4.5V batteries were quite popular in Poland. Tounge-testing whether they still had some electrick in them was very much a thing. They didn't have quite the kick of 9V batteries for obvious reasons, but we didn't know that, because 9V batteries weren't that common.
-
@GOG we had those 4.5V batteries (and tested them the same way), and IME the tongue-testing only ever gave a strong tickle, not really a "shock."
The 4.5V batteries are a thing of the past now, but 9V batteries (small cuboids about the size of 2 AA or AAA batteries, roughly?) were and still are a thing (though uncommon now). We've always tested them the same way and the tongue-shock is maaaybe a "shock" but really I would still describe it as a "tickle." Not painful in any way.
Now 10kV cattle electric fence, that's painful!

Needs to be six feet or it's no good for distancing. I'll stick with my bullwhip.

6 ft is OK, you only need to shock people at < 6 ft, i.e. 5 ft.

@Applied-Mediocrity I know, my jokes can be a bit circuitous.

@Zecc Your capacitance for them doesn't seem to be affected by any feedback.

Don’t let that impede you! Never know what sort of reactance you’ll get…
(even though the pendant is imaginary, because you’ll never “force” a hazardous current without a large voltage to match.)

Is it just me or is this at least the third round of “everybody makes bad electricity puns” this year?
-
@topspin At least we alternate.
If it's not to your liking then I hope fish puns go swimmingly, or we could turn around and do some with car analogies.

@DoctorJones On a similar note, one of the
client
s my company has made software for used [lastname][firstinitial] for their usernames, and I would sometimes joke that the whole thing could come crashing down if they ever hired Nathan Admi.Actually, I have seen that happen, even with the same naming schema. The guy that broke it was named Josef Sysel and apparently in IBM DB2, any username starting with SYS is considered a system account. I think it did not grant him any privileges, it just failed with an error code.
So, he got his username changed to
jsysel
(how anticlimatic...).

No. I don't have any pet roadrunners.
When I was about two or three years old, my mother's cat had three kittens, all female. Perhaps because my father thought it was funny, I was given the task of naming them. I said "they're Tessie, Lessie and Gurp".
We kept Gurp.
Flash forward a couple of years to my mother calling the cats (Gurp and her mother) in for din-dins, standing on the step outside the kitchen shouting into the air: "Gurp! Gurp!"

@Zecc Also note how the tiling is diagonal to the aisle. So he walk straight towards the altar without needing to zig-zag.

Are they? I don't know yet. They're probably announcing new measures this Tuesday.
