@Gribnit so far this alloy seems humorous. But I have had a few drinks tonight. We will see.

Took my kid to the circus, and one of their show was people in motorcycles running inside a sphere, called the globe of death. At the ending they bragged about one of the motorcyclists being just 12 years old. Is that even legal?
Things are legal by default. If there's no law prohibiting children from riding motorcycles inside a sphere, then it's legal.
There are laws against minors working, and there are laws against putting your kids in danger.

Ha ha ha! That's a doozy.
-
@sockpuppet7 Riding a motorcycle inside a sphere is perfectly safe as long as you don't stop in the wrong place. And presumably these were carnies. Somehow the laws are different for carnies.

Oh man. I remember my high school math classes, where sometimes, I'd sleep through half the class, get woken up by being called to the blackboard, and solve the task perfectly in no time. It was driving the teacher mad. But at least I was fairly successful in interschool competitions.

I'm constantly impressed by the power of compiler optimizations.
Test suite run on Debug build:
Duration: 0:00:18.6315758
Test suite run on Release build:Duration: 0:00:00.27166
I'm particularly happy that it's almost exactly 69x faster.
Edit: I ruined it, now it's 231x faster.

It has been a couple of years since I have had to go out on a middle of the night run. It has been at least six months since anyone who works with me has had to go out on an emergency call in the middle of the night. No one was available to cover tonight so I was the one on-call.
Sure as shit, phone rings at 11:30pm. I send it to voicemail because I did not recognize the number and usually calls from unknown numbers at that hour are usually wrong numbers. Usually drunk people. Once it was a guy trying to buy weed and would not believe me when I told him he had a wrong number. Kept calling me Larry and thought I was just yanking his chain.
I immediately get a text, everything went down at our biggest client.
3:07am and I just finished up. The consolation is that it was one of only two single points of failure in the network that could take down the entire internet connection, and no one else would have had one with them, so even if someone else had been on-call tonight and taken the call I would have still had to deliver the part.

Also, is using my Mac today. Which started well with an Xcode update draining 10% of the battery as soon as I started the computer. Because of course it would be Xcode.

I think the main risk is colliding with the other motorcycles.

The main risk is probably the carnies. The sphere could be on fire and the main risk would still be the carnies.

I was that kid. The one who never tried and didn't have the courtesy to actually do poorly as a result. Or the social sense not to tell everyone how well I did. That was (a small) part of my social problems.
One time in maths class we were doing some basic surveys and graphing results. One group decided to correlate scores in a recent mock exam with time revising for it, with a fairly strong positive correlation. Except for me with 91% and 5 minutes revision

Had several of those as well. Usually when the professor decided to recycle the exams of the previous year ;)

I want a third option on my incoming phone call screen that is "Locate the operator of the robocaller network and give him a lava enema."
The best third option would be "Send SIT"
Then your phone number would be marked as not valid
Status: SIT thing doesn't work on these robocallers. Also, the robocallers can now go straight to voicemail after I reject the call...I usually reject the call precisely to prevent having to log into my voicemail and delete the half-message that gets through.
Okay, at this point I'd be happy to give a lava enema to every single individual on the face of the Earth. It would be worth all the pain and carnage just to rid this world of robocallers.

Status: Got my review scores on how I'm doing as a teacher and at doing my tasks in general. Said review is need because I'm (once again) applying for a promotion, this time for a job which is actually well suited to my abilities (not to mention that I'm already doing about half of those additional tasks anyway). Which is about dragging the rest of my colleagues kicking and screaming into the century of the fruitbat - well, for some of them that would probably be true. It's about getting the whole digitalization stuff properly organized because currently we're lacking in the "long-term strategy" department when it comes to matters IT.
Said review says in all cases "Fulfills requirements completely" (which is actually pretty good) with two cases even stating "exceeds requirements", resulting in a "should be considered for advancement".
Let's see how I'll do in the interview - I've got one competitor which, frankly, I'm able to completely blow out of the water when it comes to technical details. Of course there's also the didactic / paedagogic side where it's a bit harder to estimate where I'm standing.

For some reason I brainfarted and thought Tax Day was April 30, which both goes to show you how good my memory is (I meet the "absent-minded professor" stereotype pretty well) and how busy this month has been.
Did a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation to confirm it's not going to be a problem, but I should probably get on that at some point this month...
