@M_Adams Exactly. What?
Shrimp on a Barbie!
(I LOL'd way more than I should have...)
-
@dcon Oh, yeah. That's why that was amusing to me. I definitely don't find the situation amusing in itself. cannibalism is wrong kids.
-
@dcon Oh. So it's a dad joke (as in "old"):
"Shrimp on the barbie" is an out-dated phrase that originated in a series of television advertisements [...] from 1984 through to 1990. It is no longer used in Australian culture.

(I LOL'd way more than I should have...)It’s even more meta than that:
It’s shrimps on a barbie on a barbie!
Too much LOL!

@M_Adams Hold on though - who's doing the cooking? A shrimp!

It goes something like this: That's not a Barbie! This is a shrimp!
That may not be 100% accurate, now that I think of it.

I have breaking info from an anonymous hacker on 4chan that their facial features are completely incompatible.
There's no way it could be Ken.

@brie But what if he'd had plastic surgery?

@JBert It'd have to be a very good surgeon... if it's him, they've taken years off him.

With the bun, patty, cheese and ketchup, a cheeseburger has all four food groups and is therefore a balanced meal.

If someone asks "What", I think it's clear that they're admitting to whooshing, so no additional information is provided by saying "whoosh".

True, but I think it's clear I wasn't providing additional information. At least it wasn't my intent...

Stare into the eyes of the Kaliyuga Demon until you understand how it smiles.

This is Kali. "Yuga" is "era" or "eon", so the Kali Yuga is the eon of Kali. (Which, I believe, we are currently in, according to Hinduism.)

So you have not familiarity with the similarly named concept in Tibetan Buddhism? I know this freaking idol I've got right here is of something with pretty much that name. Mine's not painted, but I do not think it is intended to be blue, it has a beard, and it is smiling harder.

Yes, I'm quite familiar with Tibetan Buddhism, specifically the Kagyu lineage. There is no deity "Kali" in Tibetan Buddhism, TMK, however. You might be thinking of Mahakala, though.
If I could see a picture of the meditation object you're referring to, I might be able to tell you more specifically. "Idols" are not found in Tibetan Buddhism, at least not by that word.
-
@chozang I don't know how much Mahakala sounds like Kaliyuga to you. What's this guy do? Fire? Or is that symbolizing something?
-
@kazitor said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:

Tibetan Buddhism, which I used to practice, has some wild stuff in it. Mahakala is a "wrathful deity", who eats the hearts of the perverters of the teachings. The fire is his aura.
Further discussion should probably be Jeff'd somewhere.

@chozang This isn't funny? The stone itself is the weirdest part - it's not brittle-seeming, more like oily, but I can't scratch it with anything I can find. Funniest damn shade of green. And now it turns out I have no idea what the name attached to it is supposed to be. And I can't even come close to reading this inscription.
