Maybe.
In other news, anyone know the legitimate way to access the DIRECTV2PC media server? I feel like it's an untapped resource!

Because the compiler objects to it being called

STATUS: Good thing I had an early start today. Had I gone with the bus an hour later I would have got stuck for several hours due to traffic accident. Also, now that we're actually having the thursday meetings regularly, they are very productive! I know, tr is productive meetings, but they do happen! And we need to have the rough plan in 1-2 months and it fully worked out before summer anyway.
Ended up having some devs at the table next to mine when I went out for lunch. Seemed their workplace was operating under standard operating prodecure:
- Management promising delivery earlier than what's realistic ("We didn't even have it working in testing when they promised delivery!")
- Devs working overtime to meet deadline (seemed they had minimal time off during holidays too)
- Newcomer about to break down under pressure ("He's already completely broken, He wont be around for much longer.")
Same old, same old...

@heterodox sounds like this?
Have you tried using
scrollIntoView
? Or... if you need better control over where the element ends up,var btnElement = document.querySelector('#buttonID'), offset = 10; window.scrollTo(0, btnElement.getBoundingClientRect().top - offset);

Good job, now there's uncontrolled copies everywhere. Please stop.

I figured that repeating it would help.
OK, maybe I didn't see your post.

The worst thing about VB is trying to work out whether a particular collection is 0 or 1 indexed
OK, not the worst thing, but it's annoying me right now
-
@lolwhat
After all, his post didn't have a !repeat clause in it.(Or should that be a ~repeat clause, so that you wouldn't repeat any bit of it?)

You tried googling it, right? Will this not work?

@anotherusername I don't actually care that much since it's in a bit of code I'm 99% sure will never get called. The stupid and inefficient way it was working before was just annoying me

Status: Watching videos of the storm over in the Netherlands.

@dkf Apparently, it was what is now popularly called a bomb cyclone, but meteorologists hate that term.
Lots of trees blown over. Lots of empty lorries blown over. Three people dead, two of them because of fallen trees. The storm didn't last long enough for the spring tide to cause any problems.

Status: So I resurrected my 3Dprinter. While I was doing so I also downloaded and reinstalled Simplify3D on my Surface Book only to discover that their new version (4.0.1) crashes immediately after startup when I use the Intel HD 520 graphics card.
But no worries! The Book has an nVidia GPU in addition to that!
Yeah. When I start Simplify3D with that GPU the program doesn't crash. It also doesn't start. It simply never opens a window and the process just sits pretty in the task manager, hovering at 35% CPU time (thus it does do something)
Wrote their support. They gave me some QT tool which seems to trace some common functions of the QT toolkit (which is what they are probaby using, then). It pointed towards the Intel driver, at least the log it produced indicated thus. Using it with the nVidia driver simply produced an empty log (again, not surprising given the symptoms I just described).
The support was stumped and now blames the "outdated" drivers (which in reality are just 2 months old).
As this is a laptop I'm a bit loathe to install drivers not provided by the manufacturer but it's worth a try, right?
So I did install the latest nVidia and Intel drivers for both GPUs (didn't even require .inf fiddling anymore).
Same problem. Ball's in their court now.

@anotherusername It looks more like this, now that I've done some more research:
re scrollIntoView, I did already say I don't want to execute JavaScript in the context of the page; I'd like to only use native Selenium interfaces.
Edit: Added
options.ElementScrollBehavior = InternetExplorerElementScrollBehavior.Bottom
and it WORKED! Woohoo!
-
@heterodox Selenium... we use that here, and I hate it. Nothing is ever even slightly consistent :(
-
@rhywden Turns out that if I set the OpenGL renderer to "Software Only" Simplify3D will work.

Status: printers
We have a fancy bubblejet printer here for doing PCB artworks onto acetate. It has an output door that I've always opened manually before. I just forgot to open the door, clicked print, noticed, and was mentally preparing for the error message when it deployed itself, smoothly.
...it then emitted a page of horizonal lines and smeary mess that bore no resemblance at all to the artwork.
"OK, so ten out of ten for style, but minus several million for
good thinkingexecution, yeah?"

IIRC, there was something in the Windows 286 days where the system actually did a complete processor reset while online to switch back into real mode for a BIOS call, and did it in a way that didn't bring the system down.
Filed Under: But that was before I was born so don't me too hard

There's a nice, and very convenient supermarket very close to my home that I've been going to for years. But some time in the last few months, their fruit (which was decent) suddenly became terrible. I mean borderline inedible disgusting crap. I've kept buying there because "maybe this time it won't be terrible", but so far there's been no change.
So now I have to either walk a little more to get to a different supermarket. And I wonder what crazy chain of market or management WTFs are behind that situation, since it doesn't seem to make much sense for them.
Also they had Skittles for a short period and now they don't. WHY DO YOU TEASE US LIKE THAT?

Also, now that I think about it, the politics of supermarket stocking must be a very complex topic.
Think of all the companies going "we won't let you sell our product if you also sell that other product" or "we won't sell your product unless you give us a 20% discount over our competitors" or "you may only place our product in the middle shelf of the second corridor".

Nah. Leila used to work retail grocery management. The most complex part of it was just selling x linear feet of shelf to vendors and having them stock it with whatever mix they wanted. Almost everything comes from wholesalers who don't give a fuck what product mix you buy. Only a few categories are directly contracted with the manufacturer, and most of those just buy shelf space.
