This is possibly the worst movie to have come out in many years, and that's including Assassin's Creed. Why on God's green earth would anyone make a BOOK about it? They'll either experience horrible sales, or they'll experience moderately good sales because people want to buy it to burn it.
-
@pie_flavor Maybe it works better as a novel?
No joke, I think the DOOM novelization, based off the film starring Karl Urban and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, is a lot better than the movie (though I actually do like the movie).

The only review of the Emoji movie junior novelization:
my grandmother was sick with lung cancer. she was only expected to live 1 more day. i gave her this book, and i watched her read it. she finished the book with tears in her eyes. she fell asleep quickly. i kissed her on the forehead, expecting her to be dead by morning. the next morning she was walking around normally, and a few hours later, we found out she had gotten over her cancer. my grandmother owes her life to this book. thank you for saving my grandmother.

@chaostheeternal So let me get this straight. There's a book based on a film, that was potentially based on a book, based on a video game?
(Because https://www.amazon.co.uk/Doom-Knee-Deep-Dead-No/dp/0671525557 is a thing)

Edit: Bad Idea, trying to post here before 10am on a weekend when you can't follow the reply chain.

Perhaps some classic literature? (Note: perfectly safe for work (I'm serious, despite the url)).

@mzh three reviews of the deluxe edition:
This book has a "Preview" link that only shows 12 pages... which is enough to show the title pages and credits... and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING OF THE EMOJI itself. How one can judge whether to buy a $200 hardcover from just the title pages, I don't know. Perhaps the publisher/'author' (all 800+ of them) haven't much faith in the work to allow a real preview? Same goes for the soft cover, paperback, and ebook previews.
I agree with R Dunn, that if you're going to show a preview, you should show a preview. Some reviews make it seem that the book is perhaps less interesting in actuality than it might be in concept, and it would be important to anyone considering the purchase, to at least see a page of the emoji version.
Love to see some A C T U A L pages!! So if you're going to show a preview DO. IT. LETS. SEE. A. PAGE..........!!
Gotta feel confident about any product that refuses to show so much as a page of text...

It's apparently the opposite actually, they're showing text but not emoji.
-
@tsaukpaetra but given the product is supposed to be like... made of emoji, this is kind of important.

And when they tried to buy the domain name they were surprised to find it was available.

Some of these side effects may occur without warning and, in rare situations may be serious, resulting in hospitalization or even death.
If these signs occur, discontinue RIMADYL therapy

Judges are kind of like the last vestiges of royalty in democratic societies. They refer to themselves using the Judicial "This Court", and even outside of the courtroom people are expected to know that they are above criticism.

Contempt of court is basically the only thing judges can charge you with. And in order to be charged with contempt of court, you have to act like an idiot in a place where someone has already done something wrong for you to be there.

And there I got reminded of Suzuki-san and the, uh, interesting PokΓ©mon-based music they made.

What's this formation?
IMAKUNI? KOBAYASHI?? RAYMOND???
Such a strange combination!
Who are we?
A super unit sensation "SUZUKISAN"!

Today on very bad ideas: a business model that requires your customers to be super nice and buy your original product when they could buy the slightly cheaper clone instead.
VS the free centos clone...
WTF bank buys Redhat though. Nobody is fired for buying the expensive one.

We bought RHEL for the support. Tried to use the support and they didn't respond to the ticket for days and then basically went
Moved to CentOS so we could be shrugged at on forums for free.

I don't know a lot about guns or hurricanes but I'm fairly sure this is a bad idea. Apparently there are 43,000 people signed up to do this. You goddamned Americans...

I know I say this a lot, but it's worth saying more.
Bad idea: credit cards. A system where the username that you have to give out to everyone is also the password that you must keep secret.
Also bad idea: a global oligopoly on money transfer by just 2 companies.

No, not looks like - he actually was sometimes.
And I presume, judging from the shot with the bow - without a string or arrow - the guns were also unloaded.
