@RaceProUK An easily adjustable earplug filter? That's quite nice!
I do wonder how easy it would be to replace the rubber part sitting in your ear as it would seem that it's the first to wear out.
The aesthetic also might take some time to get used to, though it does look better than just a coloured plastic bit sticking out of your ears (I have a set with a red and green filter).

That's how my mother's hearing aids worked: stick your finger in your ear and rotate it to adjust the volume. I don't know how much those cost but I'm sure it was a lot less than 300 thousand bucks.

I'm going to assume you know that's the funding amount, not the item price.

If anyone can see regular earplugs sticking out of your ears when you're wearing them, you're wearing them wrong.

It's not cheap, but that's the only complaint I can level at this. That, and they don't say what platforms the mobile app supports.

@RaceProUK This would be an excellent x-mas gift for my six-year-old!
My only concern is that I couldn't find out what songs they have available.

Hopefully it's programmable by a standard, like MIDI.

As you might or might now know, reddit allows mods to ban users from their communities for any reason they want. Which leads to a lot of them power tripping and banning everyone who mildly disagrees with them on any topic, ruining communities.
So today I saw a mod that banned those mods from his community. If more people did that, those mods would have an incentive to behave better.
Imagine expanding this idea, ending up in large inter-community treaties on what constitutes acceptable bannable offenses, and sanctions for the mods that break them.

@dkf Some people call permanent storage "ROM".
You know, because if one kind of memory is RAM, the other kind must be ROM. It's basic logic.
Also... I hope people are aware that "2-in-1" tablets with detachable keyboards running Windows 10 are already a thing? I mean a thing with dozens of models out there for every price range and from every brand... so why exactly are people paying $385,006 to make a new model?

How do those other tablets compare to this one for $299 - $399 (looks like they sold a limited number of the $399 version for $349)?

Is ROM even a thing that makes sense to advertise the size of?
That's like advertising that your hotel has eight extra basements all filled with concrete.

I just ran across this on IndieGoGo. Everyone remember the cute lab robots from the first Iron Man movie? Well, the people at uFactory are trying to actually build them. (More or less.)
They're building robotic arms with modular, interchangeable tools on the end and multiple methods to teach/program it to perform new tasks, from straight-out coding to putting it in "watch my hand and imitate its movements" mode. And all of the core code driving the robot will be open-source, so those who own one will be able to easily share new tricks and build up libraries of actions for it.
Check it out here if it looks interesting. (Full disclosure: this is a referral link. Every one that someone pledges for through it makes mine a little bit less expensive. But the only reason I have a referral link at all is because I ordered one; I'm literally putting my money where my mouth is here.)
Oh look, a crowd-funded home weapon systems automation platform.

@anonymous234 since users are already empowered with votes, I honestly don't see why reddit need mods.
Here on the forum topics are long lived, so the mods can derailment into flame wars to other topics in the garage.
Reddit posts live for like a week, and I notice there is no long interactions between any pair of users.

Zelda BOTW on Wii-U
I didn't know that game even had a disk version. I've never seen it, or even any shelf space for it.

well..... see. the Wii-u version has the oposite prolbem that the Switch version does.
the wiiu has no stock of discs because they buit so many cartridges and teh switch version has no stock of consoles because they can't get the chips because apple is being a bag of dicks again.
wait. can they be a bag of dicks again if they havent stopped being a bag of dicks since at least 1989?

apparently at the time the switch was being produced they were ramping up for a huge production run and buying up all the stock anyone had of the memory chips the switch used, leaving no stock for nintendo to buy.
or so the internet rumours said and cursory investigation did not disprove.
-
@accalia I could understand that if Nintendo competed with Apple in any way, but they don't. Apple's not going to gain anything from hampering Nintendo, so why do it?
-
@raceprouk because they needed the chips for their own revolutionary, magical new device and can afford to bully their way into buying all stock no matter what other demand there is?

but they are competing with Apple, for the ram chips in their devices.
Appartently the ram chips (or was it EEPROM?) that the switch uses are identical to the ones the iphone uses. so if apple buys them as fast as teh chipmanufacturers can make them there's none left over for nintendo.
or so the internet sez.
as i said my cursory investigation stopped at "it's plausible enough to not be patently rediculous. ooh! a pretty flower!"
-
@accalia we had a similar problem with wtfdevice, where our largest competitor bought all of the WTFs. (pun intended)
