@Boner It's like they're desperate to lose more seats...

@RaceProUK I'm just hoping it's the same OS they're planning to put on ARM devices. At this point, it would almost be better for them to go ahead and skip phones, since no one is willing to even give them a chance in that space, carriers especially.
I seriously believe that once 5g hits, and third parties start making transparent Windows MR devices, someone wanting to hold a glass and plastic rectangle will seem hopelessly antiquated.

How do you interface with something like that?

With your arm outstretched and finger erect, apparently.

Yeah...that's what I thought. Now I must dedicate my life to ensuring this never happens:

Also, it seems like it would be awkward to hand it to someone else to talk.

Hand it to someone else? It's all about shared holographic experiences. They could easily be as ubiquitous as mobile phones, though admittedly they'll need to get smaller first.

@dkf I mean, if everything was always forced to be shared, I wouldn't want that either. But the ability to have them seems really useful.

In the delusions of grandeur corner
What's happening to me has never happened ever in the history of this great country, which is that a sitting President of the United States and his grown children and the First Lady are personally trying to ruin my life forever

I'm against mob rule. Just because I find the image tasteless doesn't mean I want her fired. Her employers thought different and that is their right.
Now. she is just being a crybully and I am just embarrassed for her.

I think the disadvantages of that probably outweigh the benefits.

For those who couldn't be bothered to follow the link:
- 49-inch
- 178-degree viewing angle
- aspect ratio of 32:9
- Its resolution is 3840 x 1080
- Samsung's CHG90 essentially is two full-size, full HD (1080p) monitors in one
- response time of only one millisecond.
- refresh rate of 144 hertz
- It uses quantum-dot technology from Samsung's HDTV lineup
- The CHG90 costs $1,500, and it's available for preorder now.
This post is not an endorsement. =Ρ

@Zecc I basically started reading the article thinking "that's insane... why would anyone want..." and by the end I was thinking "if they were 1/10th the price, I'd buy one".

Yeah, pretty much. Especially since they said
Samsung's CHG90 essentially is two full-size, full HD (1080p) monitors in one
and 2 full-size, full HD (1080p) monitors cost way less than that...
-
@dcon yeah, but no bezel. Surely that's worth an extra grand?
-
@dcon said in In other news today...:

A 4K monitor would cost less, and it's the equivalent of four 1080p monitors, or two of those stacked.
Even if you get a giant one, it's going to be less. You're probably paying at least 50% more because it's curved, though...

After all we've seen why would you want to buy Samsung?
-
@coderpatsy
Dude, have you ever tried to price a bomb? Especially one that can blend in in an urban environment? $150 would be quite the steal...

My 4K monitor only cost $400. (23" Asus)
