Hey, @obeselymorbid you made a mistake there. You upvoted a post that's only a couple of minutes old. Did you mean to come back to it in a year to upvote?
-
@Jaloopa This is one of the few threads I try to keep up with.
No worries though, I'm sure I'll find some year-old posts of yours to upvote (or downvote) pretty soon.

Having your hotel equipped with internet-accessible door locks. Nicely hackable door locks.

Still? Wow, I thought they fixed that after it went up on Youtube a few years ago...

@dkf
Given that they fixed it by ripping out the electronic locks and going to keys...
-
@izzion That might actually work.

I'm assuming they mean PHP hosted sites?
They said it supports containers so ...
Let's throw 100 Discourses on it?

Could be 100+ virtual servers, each serving only a single image. That would count.

They claim there was a fourth and they foiled it.
I'm still going with "soon" when the hackers find another way.

Most of the world uses a scale from ro . But the US went through a period of inflation a while back, so that we use to .
No idea which scale the author was using. But I'm inclined to agree: hackable is not top rank.

It was pointed out on Techdirt that the "hostage" thing may have derived from practicality. Example: You're there with your wife, and either you or she must remain in the room at all times during the lockout...if you both leave then you're locked out for the duration. Sort of crimps the holiday, and I for one would feel trapped.

Doesn't that applies to restaurants only?
OTOH, the actual criterion for hotel s are so out-of-date that some hotels don't bother getting a ranking any more (especially hotel chains that have a well-known brand name). As far as I remember, to get more s you need bigger rooms and services outside the room (restaurant, dry-cleaning and so on), but not necessarily more comfortable rooms (i.e. bath in addition to shower etc.), so it doesn't always reflect what clients want.
-
My company recently sent out a communication saying they'd achieved a one star ranking in our business.
Followed by a detailed description of why that was actually really good and not the lowest possible score

Then again, in Poland the usual coffee preparation technique is to just pour hot water over the grounds in a glass and drink, so we're not exactly sophisticated in that matter.
Over here in
CrotchiaCroatia we usually boil the water, remove it from stove, put the coffee in and then let it boil again for a second. Timing this properly is the difference between enjoying your coffee while it's hot, or sipping on cold remains after you spent half an hour cleaning the stove...
