In other news, locals report that the new cars drive much more rationally than normal Michigander-operated cars. "It's almost like I was driving in Indiana or Ohio!" one resident exclaimed, on condition of anonymity lest her neighbors realize how shitty of drivers she thought they were.

It always amazes me how these people go to the newspapers and seriously expect the paper to portray them in a flattering light ("Now she wants her money back – and an apology from the company for implying she broke the settee because she’s a fatty.") and garner sympathy from the readers (commenters below the fold suggest she lose weight)...

@PJH To be fair, she has a point complaining. She weights 17 stone which is 108 kg. While that's undeniably fat, I'd expect sofas to be able handle a lot more than that.
To be fair, she can fuck off. And I say that as a twenty-four stoner.
The sofa isn't broken. It just looks like a sofa that's been sat (and possibly drooled) on, not one that is new. Because it has been, and isn't.

Waaah, YouTube is not pimping me out!
Kjellberg speculates that this is because YouTube is now favoring videos with high click-through rates or videos that grab a viewer's attention and make them click immediately.
So his problem is that YT puts videos people are actually watching on the recommended list? Yeah, preposterous!

Nah: we just have some super-picky vegans who want to push their standards on everyone else.

So they mention vegetarians, who are quite happy to eat animal products. Those guys obviously don't think farming animals is such a bad idea, they just don't want to eat the actual animals.
Then they mention vegans, who do not eat animal products at all. But money isn't for eating.
Basically they chose two groups of people that are identified by things they choose not to do that aren't related to manufacturing money in any way. The article could say "make the note more bricklayer-friendly" and it would be as relevant.

:/ Animal by-products.
A vegetarian will eat milk and eggs. A vegan won't.
Neither will eat animal fat.

The True Vegan is against all animal products including fur, leather and anything else made from animals, not just food.
-
@another_sam Another article I've seen on this topic was mentioning Hindus, many of which apparently avoid all cow-derived products (including leather etc.). So they would have a legitimate reason to complain about something that isn't for eating...

The amount of tallow in all the new £5 notes could be gathered from one cow
-
@Jaloopa
But if we add 8 more cows, we can have the tallow in 1 month instead of 9!
-
@another_sam said in In other news today...:

Many vegans, as part of their veganism, will not handle animal products either: they do not wear leather or fur, they do not use makeup that was tested on animals, anything involving animals in the process of creation is verboten. It's like, level 5 super-veganism.

If only. Such a level of stupidity would result in them dying of starvation within a few weeks, maybe sooner (when they realise that water can cast a shadow and subsequently take to not consuming anything at all), and then we'd be rid of those assholes forever. They'd be dead, but their principles would be sacrosanct.
I'd call that a win, and would celebrate with a bacon sandwich.

I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't put sauce on at all. But a fried egg (with the yolk still runny) is very good too.
