What does "Using karma for angularjs blah blah...." mean in this context ?
@tsaukpaetra How different does the Listerine "Frozen" edition taste?
@bb36e So he's at a clojure conference and taking the piss. Sweeet.
I was talking about the Piece of shit software from Oracle. Am i missing something here ?
The back and forth at the beginning of the thread is hilarious. Need more of it.
@mott555 is this person a repeat offender when it comes to fucking up builds checking in without proper checks?

Status: I hate, hate, hate dealing with dates.
If you accidentally:
DateTime counter = new DateTime(DateTime.UtcNow.Year, DateTime.UtcNow.Month, DateTime.UtcNow.Day, 24,0,0);
Then it instantiates and the Watch window shows 23:00:00. Try to
.ToString
the bastard and you getArguementOutOfRangeException
and rage
you mean counter.ToString() fails? But why? Sorry, I have not dealt with dates that much.
@boomzilla I always fail to understand how people overlook the obvious and then do something stupid.

Would have to probably wait 5 years for these folks to settle down assuming they don't have a .NET Core 12.0 -> 12.1 -> 12.2 nonsense then.
Datagrid is complicated af. IIRC there were a few Infragistics grid controls that were built on top of Datagrid and getting anything meaningful out of the Datagrid docs or the Infragistics one was a huge PITA. Like someone said the inheritance tree was 62717 miles deep. But thankfully, I don't work with those things anymore.

It isn't about not doing work that is not “fun”, it is about not doing work they can get away with not doing. Which is totally corporate-y.
They can only get away with it because the rest of the entire goddamned industry is also open source-y and thus also equally shitty.
I just hope the opensourcey folks don't fuck up VS Code. Or it is gonna become an endless "it's OSS. You fix it" nonsense.

Previously we were protected by their shenanigans behind closed doors a bit more firmly. Now we can see the insanity in full view.
Seems so. I honestly expected to see better. Don't know why.

Hi guys,I basically want an online team collaboration thingy where my bosses and other people involved can see what I am working on at the moment.stuff in my to do list, stuff in progress, stuff completed and so on.kanban ish.there would be a total of two to three people looking at this excluding me. I was looking at trello but it requires each member to log in.I don't think my target audience would use this if they had to open a Web page and login and see stuff.I just want to do my kanban stuff, share a link and anybody who wants to see what I am working on would just click the link and be taken to the page where my progress will be listed. If any of this makes sense, recommendations are welcome.
EDIT: Not a paid software. Must be free
Thanks much

LOLOLOLOL This piece of info is soooooooooooo fucking old and irrelevant cos we gonn get .NET Core 3.0!!!!
So, Some Microsoft Guy writes a blog post which contains this graphic:
https://msdnshared.blob.core.windows.net/media/2018/05/netcore3-1024x983.png
Notice over on the right, the words "Cross Platform" under the Apple and Linux logos. Which leads to people asking about cross platform stuff and Microsoft Guy responding with a lot of WTF-ery.
The comments section are far more interesting than the actual post wtf cross platform circle jerk make it stop someone pls
@pie_flavor would love to. But no one hires for rust around here and I don't have time for exploring new stuff at the moment either. Gotta stick to what I know :(
Im open to including other programming paradigms in my shit though like FP or whatever. Assuming that's not another whole bag of WTFs

I installed Xamarin through the visual studio installer a few weeks ago, created a new app and compiled and ran in an Android emulator without issues. Haven't had a chance to start any custom coding yet, and the iOS part won't build without getting xcode on my wife's mac and linking them, but I haven't seen any of these "it doesn't even compile" issues
I got the compile issues a few months back and then gave up. Tried it recently and again gave up hence the thread. One of my ex bosses wanted to evaluate Xamarin for a read only app for their product and he said It did not compile. Mind you all this was on clean VS installations. So I don't know, Classic case of WOMM?
@Tsaukpaetra I was excited at the prospect of making a "that's what he/she said" joke but looks like you already made things pretty explicit. Disappointed.
@cartman82 said:you are stuck with basically deprecated technologies, like .NET, WPF
@stillwater said:TIL.
That's an especially funny thing to say given that universal apps are written in .Net.
If .NET is deprecatedzzzzzzzz then all the time I have invested in .NET has gone to shit. I am going to learn Ruby on Rails which is much more awesome and supercool and nice and fun and stuff. I hope that does not get deprecated anytime soon.
@unperverted-vixen This already making me head spin :( :(
@pie_flavor Seeing how it's .NET I might actually give it a shot, at least for class libraries and such.
@remi Will you be able to run the cables through the walls if needed all the way to the other end of the room? What's the upper limit on your budget?

IMO, anything that's not less magical does not tend to be friendlier. The more the magic, the difficult it is to use.
@unperverted-vixen said in I'm done with MS and their .NET Core Bullshit:
Seeing as how they keep changing them with each release, putting the defaults in a library so users get automatic updates makes sense to me.
You're assuming they're gonna get updates.
@unperverted-vixen said in I'm done with MS and their .NET Core Bullshit:
If you want to alter them, you can always scaffold and take ownership for keeping them in sync.
You can do that. What happens if there is a breaking change between your scaffolded pages and the class library when it receives its next update. Things get borked then. These were scaffolded out to controllers and views since 1925. Now they've changed it and everyone who scaffolds out (which I am sure people will) the Identity controllers and views have the overhead of making sure things work according to the latest update when the Class libary receives one. Yeah seems like no big deal to me.
@Gąska thank God for auto completion / intellisense
All the Rust programmers out there, I'm looking at it and seems nice. Typed and all that. How is the development experience on windows? Glitchy? Can anyone comment?

Downside is that you can't have webforms MVC and API in the same website. You have to pick 2 of the 3. So, no API
Why though? I don't know much but is it not possible to inherit certain controllers from apicontrollers and return json? Is there some limitation that prevents having API along with webforms and MVC? IIRC you could have API and MVC the same way i just described above.

Yes at the end of the day the only thing roles did was end up adding a Role claim permission, we feel claims based authorization is the direction we want to encourage going forward, you can still accomplish the Role permission via the user claims api
Either I'm misinterpreting this shit and understood it all wrong which I'm hoping is the case or your table-flip ends up being justfied!

My whatsapp linked phone no. is my throwaway mobile number. I got this number at a time where providing Identification was well...not really 'necessary' here. This is the number I hand out like it's my real number. This is the only thing I could do about it with zero control over how other people share my info.

If you read exactly what I meant then I'm not sure where you got the idea I don't care about privacy. That is the exact opposite of what I've been saying.
Just find one of discussions I mentioned if you are curious about arguments of either side. They won't change your mind, whichever side you're on, believe me.
Im pissed with the whole thing because going out of my way to keep my personal information intact is a pain in the ass I don't want on top of my regular shit. I understand the argument about trading data for free services but I am not really sure what is lurking underneath when it comes to location tracking and targeted ads on my phone just when I look up shit. That's the maximum I can go as far as trading data for services is concerned. If some one knows by experience if that shit is evil I'm going right back to my
without batting an eyelid.
The best I've done so far to deal with all this shit is
I don't do photographs. Nope the fuck away. The most mundane shit gets tagged on facebook my an idiot friend or a colleague.
I have a lot of throw away numbers and throw away emails for almost everything including banks. I use my personal number only for the closest of family and friends preceded by a 132132131 hour lecture on privacy.

JIRA is not usable...But finally when we moved to JIRA, I could not figure it out so it was logging hours in Google sheets and printing it out once every month
Wha?????....I mean, there are some little things that annoy me but I cannot figure out where this is coming from.
I don't remember the exact specifics but different people in the team had different ways they wanted tasks logged in JIRA and there were things workflows and projects and when we logged something under a category somebody wanted at the level which would be more granular or less granular and figuring out how to do shit differently was a PITA. YMMV but it was unintuitive AF and the UX sucked.
@Zecc This is sweet. Where do I get these kinda guides for other MS products like SQL Server or say C# , .NET etc.,
@gąska Looks like a case of the default hh mm ss datetime field representation on the UI and the dev just went meh fuck it I'll leave it as it is. Or maybe it was put intentionally?
@gąska So that UX is consistent. Sweet!
