Yes, those elves look very preteen, but canonically they're still hundreds of years old.

Hmm, IE was released in 1994. This thing was released in 2013, making her 19.

Remember kids, stabbing 17 year old girl with your penis is not OK, only do it with your knife!
(disclaimer: I am not actually advocating for any of that -- it's called sarcasm, look it up in your Oxford dictionary)
Explaining a joke makes it not a joke.
(You see, because a joke is made of two or more concepts conflict or defy expectation, which triggers a condition in the brain where it deals with the dissonant information with treating it as "funny". However, should those concepts be normalized, expected or otherwise have the conflict resolved, then it loses the potential to be 'surprising' or 'unexpected', and cannot trigger that dissonant reaction in the brain. Explaining a joke does the job of removing the surprising/unexpected/conflicting information. This is especially true if explaining immediately after telling the joke, since the concept-conflict might not have fully registered in the brain yet, so by the time the 'joke' is registered, the underlying concept will already bee resolved. Overall, once the 'joke' is understood or explain, the 'joke' is prevented from being funny, and since it is no longer funny, it can no longer be a joke. Also, your mom gives messy blowjobs to kangaroos)

I stand by my comment that you can't criticize someone's choice of hostname unless you actually spent time to understand their network topology and can prove that cdn.example.com is just one server without DDoS protection and without geographical distribution (and also without expansion plans for the future).¡uᴉɐƃɐ sʇsodlɐoƃ ǝɥʇ ǝʌoɯ ǝɯ ǝʞɐɯ ʇ,uop ¡ʇᴉ doʇs 'פNOɹM ┴I פNIOp ǝɹ,noʎ 'oʇ noʎ ʇuɐʍ ᴉ ʎɐʍ ǝɥʇ ƃuᴉzᴉɔᴉʇᴉɹɔ ʇ,uǝɹɐ noʎ ou

No matter how inept you think MySpace is, they are worse.
A site based 100% entirely on user generated content somehow managed to lose 50 million+ pieces of user generated content. During a server migration. How? Did they migrate it by going to \newserver\filez and doing a CUT+paste, but the paste somehow failed and all the source files were gone?
Backups? Backups of backups? Offsite backups?
Was nobody checking the backups?

<del> scroll</del><ins> page</ins> up
I just tried to scroll up. Happened to start 3px lower than I normal do, and the swipe up passed over the blue bar at the bottom.
Which apparently rapidly across through pages. Unless you happen to just quickly flick-up, in which case the "page up" UI just flashes on screen, detects that you let go, and executes the navigation to the page.
Which, since you just scrolled up, you are looking at the upper part of the screen, not the lower, so you don't even see the flash of ui. So all what you experience is the page randomly fucking off to a different page.
Maybe implement more of a tap-and-hold delay , then show the page scrolling ui, and capture swipe up. Even a250ms delay would do.

Oh god it's going to be one of those days working with code isn't it?
Layers of canary-gas here...
- did he not realize you can re-use the "tempItem" variable? Does he not understand OOP? Did he thing that saying
tempItem = new CUSTItem()
would "overwrite" the previous item (that is in the cart line collection now)*
- Did he really need four instances of tempItem with increasing names of tempItem2, tempItem3? Because he's declaring those items inside the scope of the If-End If block. He could have called them all tempItem and there'd be no problem. Does he not know about scope levels?
**
- Oh, and this means not only did he copypasta his code 4 times-- he then had to modify the code 4 times. The "redacted code" just populates that item with a string related to the CustomProperty, sets the price based on the CartLine price. That's it. So he could have a function called
CUSTCartLine GetTempItem(string fakeItemNo, decimal linePrice)
, instead of copypasting the code multiple times. Does he not know about re-usability?***

Fjord pee-per N
Call this a prediction post.
If you've listened to any podcast or watched any YouTube video, you've probably come across an ad for a certain vpn company. Let's call them "Nord VPN" because that's their name. Like most "brands" they encourage "influencers" to "organically" include their "brand awareness" into "audience engagement" through "calls to action" .
This means lots of flowery talk about the importance of "privacy".
Okay, sure, privacy is great. But let's think about this for a moment.
That whole "in every fucking video and podcast" thing, right"? Those spots run hundreds to thousands of dollars per, depending on the influence of the influencer. Plus kickbacks from promo codes. That's a HUGE advertising budget.
This can only mean a few things:
- They have a huge influx of cash from VCs
- They have a massive amount of money backing them from ~~ other sources ~~
- They make their money from a revenue stream that isn't subscriptions
- They're blowing their wad on expansion and it will never be profitable
I refuse to believe they have a large enough user base paying a few dollars a month to justify how big they claim to be.
That means it will play out (depending on funding source):
- The VCs will want an ever-growing return, which will surely outpace realistic expectations for profit. Results in either a crash-and-burn (see #4) or will require alternate measurement streams (see #3)
- Let's say this is very possible, given how much backdoor spying certain fascist regimes (ie: USA) does. But let's give them benefit of the doubt and assume they aren't a FBI front (yet)
- Alternate revenue streams means selling personal information of their customers
- Company crashes and burns. But no company is going to admit defeat without first exploring alternate revenue streams (see #3)... or at least they will be acquired by a venture company, leading to #1, which will just keep looping between #1 and #4 until someone tries to recoup investment via #3
So you have this company ostensibly built on convincing people they need privacy... Trying to get a huge user base to use a product that ostensibly provides privacy... By routing all their internet traffic through a central server AND holding onto PII for billing purposes... Which only provides privacy if there is trust in the operators of that service... Except that the only possible endgame for those operators is to sell all the PII and internet traffic they've logged over their operations.
The probability of a VPN company being large AND profitable AND having a huge advertising budget to expand AND remaining a way of protecting privacy is absolute zero.So this is my prediction that sooner if not later we'll be reading the articles about "big name VPN caught selling PII and browsing logs to highest bidder"
Or they get hacked and lose all that data before they can sell it. Either or.
