Normally on Windows 11 clicking System in the Control Panel opens the System/About page of the Settings program instead of the older System Control Panel. You can force it to open, though: make a folder on the Desktop and rename it
System.{BB06C0E4-D293-4f75-8A90-CB05B6477EEE}
.Still, Microsoft should have replaced the logo.

I just tried it on an i7-7700HQ on 22H2... And it works. I can't believe it. It's so snappy suddenly. Now, I don't know if I should be happy or jaded by this.

static constexpr int FILE_EXPLORER_LOOP_DELAY = 1000000; // Drop a zero on really slow Tuesdays static constexpr int FILE_EXPLORER_LOOP_DELAY_FS = 100; // IMPORTANT!! Make sure this is exactly the same value as above!

Ah, just squeezing some more money... by counting your file sizes twice. Dogshit quality unaffected.OneDrive offers a great way to back up your photos and easily share them with friends and family as albums.
Wow, talk about blatant lies.

@MrL I had DOpus for the Amiga and re bought it for the PC in the early 2000s but looking at the screenshots of it now I donât think Iâd like it.
Still, if Win11âs âyou will have ads after allâ comes true, I expect the company will be in the business of people giving them lots of money for a working file manager.

It's ridiculously configurable, you'd probably get what you want.

Considering that this wasn't always billed as duplicate files, probably not.
I assume it's not technical incompetence, for once, but simply a rip-off.

For billing purposes, yes, Microsoft is pretending that "galleries" are duplicate files. Even though we know that's not how it works.
Personally I find this to be a pointless, meaningless feature that I don't care about and didn't even know existed until now. But that's just me.
I guess the real question is -- is One Drive photo storage a popular enough feature that people will complain and Microsoft might have to back off?

@MrL Iâm at that point where Iâm kinda done with configuring, if it doesnât work reasonably well OOTB I want something else rather than delving into the config. But I still have a soft spot for DOpus so maybe Iâll give it another look.

I understand that sentiment, I'm kinda halfway there myself.
Fortunately there's a lot of configurations shared by users of DO, so I just downloaded the best looking one, tweaked some details and considered it done.

Rip-off:
To help OneDrive users avoid interruption due to this storage policy changes, Microsoft is granting a one-time storage bonus that will take effect when the data change is applied to the account. This storage bonus is free of charge and will expire one year after the date of issue.
It's the same as other cloud storage providers. Once they have you paying for extra quota that you are using, it's difficult to stop paying for it.
IMO: cloud storage is best avoided. Not to mention that uploading your photos to Microsoft to feed into their machine learning seems like a dubious idea to begin with.

It does, but during OOBE I also can't open a web browser without deeper shenanigans I really didn't care to go through for a once-ever thing, so having a screenshot on the clipboard would be less than helpful.

Turns out, you need to supply it with a subfolder. Pointing it at the root of a flash drive is a non-starter, apparently.
It's fine, Microsoft is a pretty young and small company, I'm sure they're trying their hardest.

What I read said it was Microsoft's fault the BSOD happened in the first place, and that it could theoretically happen on any system. Although it's also not surprising that MSI throws a bandaid at it as they somehow was the most affected party. Probably faster than waiting for MS to release a proper fix too...
-
@Atazhaia Or, who knows, it was actually
BIOSUEFI at fault. MS called some disused runtime service function, but MSI had chucked some more RGB code in there instead.
-
@Applied-Mediocrity I do know MSI seems to have added the same
rootkit installerdriver installer feature to their UEFI as Asus got, based off a new option appearing on my PC. I have it disabled of course. And I do like that despite having one of MSI's "professional" boards it still got the disco lights feature. But also to MSI's credit they at least do have RBG-less options in their gaming range unlike like everyone else.

Apparently, I have some sort of alternate universe version of Win11, because going to the "old Control Panel" and clicking on "System" does not go to the "About page of Settings".
It takes me to a page that is identical to the one in Windows 10, except for one place where it says I'm running Win11 -- but still displays a Win10 logo. That's how I got this picture that I posted previously:
-
@Gern_Blaanston Weird. Both my W10 and W11 machines go to the Settings page. Is your system an upgrade from something before W10? (mine at both clean installs)
