Cat status: ambitious.
Typical cat: chatters in frustration on seeing a sparrow or pigeon just out of reach.
Ruby: chatters in frustration on seeing a seagull on a roof across the street.

Ruby came home without her collar on today. Second time in as many weeks - the first she had a chunk of loosened fur where clearly she'd got caught on something and the safety catch had done its job. This time no such obvious evidence but that doesn't mean it didn't.
I'll buy her a new one tomorrow, but I thought that I'd post on NextDoor asking if anyone in the neighbourhood happened to find it.
I got a reply pretty quickly from someone saying that someone might be taking it off as "cats shouldn't wear collars."And then very quickly after that - in fact while I was composing a response - deleted their reply.
The fact that they obviously thought better of saying it makes me very suspicious. And I'm absolutely furious, because of course it's a safety collar and of course I tested the clip to make sure it gives way easily, and I have it on her primarily for her safety, because she's a black cat and it's reflective so that cars can see her in bad light. So if this person did steal her collar, they are actually putting her in more danger than otherwise.

@Parody I want that 00:41 of my life back.

My nieces think it's cute, and it's not the one show or the single Disney song they want to put on repeat whenever they come over so that's a win in my book.

neighbour's cat status this is the second morning in a row I have being woken up by their cat. It pops in the window. Mews at me for a minute and then goes to sleep at the bottom of my bed.

Cat Status: using the catflap in both directions with no assistance.
She would still like personal door service if I happen to be nearby, but if I go away and leave her she will go out or in happily enough, even negotiating the microchip lock to come in. You can teach an old cat new tricks.

She's got to keep the servant in her place.

Have you tried installing a catblocking extension?

And they prefer running water most of the time. Bit late for myself to realize this, but you can buy things like water fountains for cats now. (Probably needs much cleaning though)
Yes. Lots of cleaning.

OMFG!

@DogsB Adorable, but... I can't help but suspect that those people might not care too much about the cats' well-being.

@Zecc Lifehack: your kitty exercise wheel can also be used to dry clothes

Cat status: Passed away. She hadn't been eating well recently. This morning I made a vet appointment for this afternoon, but around 11:00 she gave up, so the vet really only had one option.
She'll be missed.

“People think of cats as solitary and antisocial,” she says. “But this study reinforces the idea that they’re watching us and learning from us.”
The better to enslave us.

Cat status: snug as a bug on her new rug
Because the three (3) cat beds I already had were insufficient for my one (1) cat. I might be a crazy cat mum.
It's not quite as bad as it sounds
The first two would have been perfectly sufficient, if they were the other way round. But the warmest one was upstairs, and she stays downstairs at night. (In the UK we use heating systems that are normally only turned on when people are at home and awake, so it gets *chilly* on winter nights.) And I didn't want to swap them because I just love the pretty cushion in front of the fireplace - so it's actually for home decor and not cat spoiling that I needed another one. And number three doesn't count: I made it out of an old winter coat to save putting the entire thing in landfill, so it was free, and it's not nice enough to go anywhere other than under the bed.

@DogsB Well, apparently cats got that account suspended.

Cats are great for illustrating the "many-to-one relationship" concept.

If it worked like our Quote out of Context thread, I'm not that surprised that some cat got offended.
