Cats are liquid
Tell that to my cat. Some day, I'll have to make a video of her "gracefully" sliding into her currently favorite box. (The one my new monitor came in.) It looks about as smooth as an elephant trying to ride a bicycle.

What's the cat standing on?
The floor?
The cat is standing with its hind legs on the floor, possibly with its fore paws on the seat.

someone took a shit next to the litterbox
My mom's cat is stupid, and thinks if he's standing in kitty litter it's OK to potty - even if his ass is hanging outside the box.
Is the litterbox disgusting? The cat may just not want to go in there if it hasn't been cleaned in a while.

He does this even with a pristine box.

It's even disgusting when it's freshly cleaned

.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close
FatalExecutionEngineError was detected. The CLR has been corrupted to the point where it is better to just shut the whole process down. That happens tomorrow. I just called .GiveAttention() for the last time.

@Placeholder BTDT with my dogs twice within the last year.
-
@Placeholder that's always hard.
-
@Benjamin-Hall Yeah. It's not the first time that I've had to go through this but all the other times were when I was a lot younger. I remember being quite upset back then too, but I feel like I have a much better understanding of everything that's going to happen this time around. That makes it easier, and harder.
Looking back at 's behavior, I wouldn't be surprised if this problem has been going on for a much longer time, albeit in a much less severe way. It's hard to tell. Regardless, 's pain will be over soon.

Never made the connection between cat, head and tail before.

@Placeholder I’m sorry for your loss. Hope you’re doing ok.
I remember mine sleeping in my arms the night before.

If it wasn't for covid, I'd have a cat by now or be actively trying to find one to adopt. I put it off a few weeks because we had a family holiday planned and I didn't want to get a cat and then leave it alone (with cat-sitter to visit, obviously) for a week while it was still settling in.
Holiday was of course called off, and these days even when I'm at work, I'm at home, so it'd be a perfect time to be looking after a new cat and settling it in. But shelters are closed to the public, so at best I wouldn't be able to go and meet the cats to see who I wanted to take home. And even if I could, I don't feel I should - and not just the actual adoption but all the other things that need to be organised and procured. I could probably get most of the paraphernalia delivered but I'd much prefer to take a trip to the pet shop and pick things out having seen them. It would just result in a lot of non-essential interactions. And of course, it wouldn't be very responsible to take on an animal at a time when vets are emergencies only and not taking new patients.
Poppy is fine (showing her age a bit, by reports, but as she will be seventeen this summer, she is entitled to slow down a bit) but she lives with my parents and because of covid I can't even visit.

Cat status: bitten by a tick, despite precautions. Dead in two weeks, despite treatment. We had a close call with haemobartonellosis last year; this time, we weren't so lucky. I think I heard his last meow in the morning, it sounded horrible. He was only 7.

Cat status: on reserve waiting list to offer a home to one of up to two kittens born recently in my neighbourhood.
There are three kittens, a surprise litter (I hope they get mum spayed after they're weaned); the owner's daughter is keeping one, and the daughter's friend gets first dibs on the other two but only wants a female, so if they're both boys they will both be needing homes. I'm keen on a boy so that's fine by me. I'm about twelfth on the list but the owner has said she will be picky about who gets them so I'm not holding my breath but it's not out of the question. Although I'm not shopping by paint job, one of them is black and I would love a black cat if it worked out that way.

Cat status:
I ran across this beautiful girl being advertised as "overlooked" - unsurprising due to her age and fur colour, but so sad that she has been in need of a home for nearly a year and a half. #BlackCatsMatter
After a bit of thought and some research into the practicalities of adopting while still under partial lockdown, I've just contacted the shelter asking about adopting her!!!! I don't know whether they'll be able to complete the process until restrictions are further lifted but hopefully I can at least get the ball rolling and be first on the list for her when that happens.
I'm trusting you guys by linking her here. I'm officially calling dibs. If she gets adopted by someone else first and I find out it was any of you, I will track you down and catnap her. And maybe kill you.

UPDATE 25th November 2019 - after almost one year in the shelter, Ruby is now in a foster home and doing brilliantly.
I think you’re late.
-
@topspin I think it was planned as a temporary thing?
after almost one year in the shelter, Ruby is now in a foster home
She needs a proper, forever home now we know her true personality. Would you love to live with a quirky girl?
-
@topspin You're the second person to point that out thinking it meant she was no longer up for adoption. I thought the practice of shelters fostering out animals before they find a forever home was more well-known than that.
Of course foster fail is a thing, but one would hope that if her carer had decided to keep her, her advert would have been updated to say she was rehomed.
-
@CarrieVS well, I blame that on being an ESL speaker.
In that case good luck with adopting this beauty.

I mean, yes?
Just as long as the quirks aren't harmful or demeaning...

@Tsaukpaetra Far as I've seen, if anyone describes themselves as "quirky", run.

Crazy girls are freaky in bed, though.
Filed under: Well, and everywhere else, too, but that doesn't negate my point.
