The best western of all time is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
100% agreed.
That scene where The Good is chasing after the fleeing The Ugly and he casually sweeps his cloak back, pulls out his cigar and lights the cannon leftover from the recent battle to knock him off his feet... I had to pause the movie so I could get up and cheer and run around.
I first saw it in my 20s.

they have like a speaker, always the same speaker (regardless of the gender of the character who is speaking) talking over the original soundtrack
We used to have these in documentaries too. It was bizarre. But our movie dubbers are good, often they are better than the original soundtrack. Our simpsons are best simpsons.
Where are you from? Poland as well? Anyway, there is a pattern. Each country dubbing foreign material will say that their dubbers are the best. Italians proudly say we have the best dubbers in the world. The truth is that it's only familiarity. By the way, we did a very good job with the Simpsons because we practically dubbed the show with the same kind of voices. You can watch The Simpsons in Italian and English and you won't find much of a difference. Many of the lines are untranslatable though.

I recently saw Morricone in concert. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as I had hoped (he focused on his more obscure material, justifiably so because I guess he'll have grown sick and tired of the "hits", which he sort of rushed in between his other stuff) but it was like one of my x things to do in my life. Plus the guy's gonna die any minute. He's 89. It was now or never.

@blakeyrat anyway, the thing is, those films have like the most stunted dialogue ever, but this weirdly adds to the mystique. If The Good had been a smooth talker, he would have been much less memorable.

@admiral_p They also take place in a weird fantasy universe, which in that film is basically "The Civil War, but brought to you by a person who's never been to the US and knows very little about the Civil War."

Yeah, well, the Civil War is just a very, very weak pretense. Battling for weeks on end over a bridge makes little sense.
-
@admiral_p I don't really think the film was intended as an historical documentary...
Anyway, I've always seen that movie more as a several small episodes that are loosely related by a common thread than as a really consistent story.
I mean, there is obviously a story, but there are many scenes that would work as well if they were taken in isolation, with basically no context (like the final battle!), or even that don't really add much to the story (like the whole bridge thing... ok, they need to cross the river, but really, they do it in the worst possible way -- this does make for a nice scene, of course, and that's the point, but it doesn't really matter for the story). It feels like there were these ideas for cool things to film, and each one has its own exposition/development/creeping up of tension/temporary setbacks/denouement, like a whole movie, and then there is a bit of filler to move on to the next. It's part of the standard way to build a movie, of course, but it's pushed quite far.
It works perfectly though, so I don't really complain about it. But let's say that I'm not watching that movie for the story.

I think you should be tagging @blakeyrat. I like the fact that Sergio Leone basically said "no fucks given, I want to make a cool film". What's the story anyway? "There's a treasure somewhere, I know one thing about it and you know another". Meh.
By the way, Sergio Leone gave no fucks in general. The shooting of the film was accompanied by a darkly hilarious complete disregard for any concept of safety. Eli Wallach could very possibly have died in a couple of scenes. To cite an old meme: that's fucking metal.

@coldandtired Quantity != quality. If the percentage of US titles is considered a quality measure, then I beg to differ. I absolutely loathe that rubbish; the likes of orange is the new black, homeland, stranger things, house of cards - I tried them all, and I just could not watch that shite. Feels like all of them are made for people with the mindset of a 14 year old.
...to be fair, though, I hate most snot nosed european (which is where I'm from) shows as well :-D
I don't agree with all you said (I wouldn't say House of Cards is that childish), but in general these shows all have a certain element of "woah, cool!", "edgy!" and/or address "your inner child". Like, Stranger Things, it's unashamedly a very stylish kid's show and it's winking and nudging all the way through to their millennial audience who feel nostalgia for an era they may (or may not!) have lived as a child. But look at your parents or grandparents. Would your parents or grandparents actively seek such material for themselves? Would your parents and grandparents obsess over it? Or let's even extend the debate, take the obsession over the Marvel universe. Fucking comics, that you'd have been embarrassed to read in public, like, twenty or thirty years ago, as an adult (look at Comic Book Guy character from the Simpsons). The truth is that most of us are really all growing up later, and thirty is really the new twenty under certain aspects.

If something not works, and becoming less and less viable, maybe puring money in it is a bad idea. In a corporation, when the efficiency of one of the department are decreased and it only produces loss, its a better idea to discontinue it (not because you dislike those people, but its better if they do efficient work), and maybe reorganizing it from 0 is a better idea.

Snot-nosed European crap? I give you: Sorrentino!
The Great Beauty Official Trailer #1 - Paolo Sorrentino Movie HD – 02:09
— Rotten Tomatoes TrailersThis movie is absolutely brilliant. In my top 10 of all time.
I prefer his older stuff. La Grande Bellezza is an unfunny parody of what made Sorrentino. It's an overlong, self-referential, bloated wankfest that strongly points at the possibility that Sorrentino masturbates looking at himself in a mirror. There are some good parts, and if he had cut, say, half the material, I'd agree, but there is too much pretentious snottery that I can't overlook. Besides, the snide, stylish disdain of the world has grown old. I suppose that, if you have never seen anything by Sorrentino, then it's great because you don't know what to expect.
So this makes perfect sense, honestly.

Japanese Spider-Man:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me-wMZeKck4
This was real. A very weird show where Spider-Man is this Japanese guy given spider powers by an alien to fight off an alien invasion of monsters that, when defeated, grow to giant size and require him to summon a giant mecha to fight. (If this premise sounds strangely familiar, the company who made it reused the basic idea, but with a team of costumed warriors instead of a single superhero, in a long-running series called Super Sentai, which was later adapted for American audiences as Power Rangers.)
