The full-sized picture my avatar is from is "a black and white cow standing in a field". Not quite a cow, but sure. It's also facing to the left. Hmm...
-
Neither dog is sitting, but ok then...
-
-
@atazhaia Hey, I actually had a picture of a dog on a bench too!
Feels like I had this conversation before...
And it feels like it got the backgrounds of the pictures mixed up...
-
Hey, I got it to be mostly correct!
There were many people. A square rather than a street. There is a building that was a church for a period of time. Not so good at recognizing landmarks, though...
-
Doesn't work on logos....
-
Does not like cartoons?
It last talked about a wii-mote, but said something different this run.
-
-
The neural network that identifies the picture seems to come up with some halfway decent captions, but I feel like the further q'n'a is more or less just random. It can tell whether the questions need to be answered with yes/no, how many, what kind, ... but overall its responses seem pretty random.
-
@tsaukpaetra It's surprising how often it mistakes colour for black and white. I would have thought that would be an easy thing to program.
-
@tharpa There are lots of types of color images that human beings recognize as black and white. Sepia-tone to give the most obvious example.
But yeah. Not SO many that they couldn't train that in like 5 minutes if they tried.
-
Maybe it's a ploy to go viral. Nobody really cares about good AI. But AI that is terrible and wrong can be pretty fun, as this thread proves.
-
@mott555 The ploy is to grab data to improve their image recognition by making it "fun".
You guys are giving them free labor.
-
@ben_lubar Ok, the rest is all understandable but this part is killing me.
-
Does not pass the mirror test.
-
@mott555 It finally worked. Not very interesting, though.

You were trying a Deep Dream image? I somehow missed that...
-

I have half a mind to try to get this thing programmatically hooked up to Deep Dream, some kind of random Google image search system, and CleverBot.
-
It finally worked…
Trolls are bears. It's official. And green dungarees are the new pink and white striped shirt and blue jeans.
-
Has anyone fed it an ink blot?
-
No one tried... Jesus, do I have to do everything around here?
I think it knows more than it's letting on...
-
@heterodox And we're back to UNK UNK's.
-

At least you're getting it to say things...
-
@mott555 In case you didn't know: that's actually an established way to train neural networks, it's called generative adversarial networks. You make one network generate images of dogs, you feed both real images of dogs and the generated images to the second network. The second network learns to tell them apart, the first network learns to generate better images.

They're real
-
How many women were there again? (Real answer: 0)
-
How many UNK are there in the picture?
-
-
-
Let's settle this once and for all:

As long as you insert some poisoned data later, it'll balance out.
-
-
It's really keen on people holding cell phones for some reason.
-
@heterodox it was trained with lots of pictures of millennials?
-
The reverse of the visual chatbot

There was a link to try it: http://t2i.cvalenzuelab.com/

Apparently, a woman is taking a picture of a dog in the rear view mirror
[It's] like holding up a highly-reflective idiot in front of an idiot mirror - the result has been infinite recursion of stupidity, as far as the
eyeAI can see.- Andrew Orlowski, about almost entirely different subject. But I'm quite sure he'd agree with me on this.
-
@Applied-Mediocrity How do I? There's no submit button or anything.
-
@mott555 It just started drawing for me even before I finished typing. It looks like you might have an addon blocking something.
-
@boomzilla I turned uBlock off, no difference.
-

I think there are two things going on here:
- It's very slow
- It's aggressively cached
So if you type something that someone else has already typed, you get an image without having to wait.
-
@ben_lubar Fast for me. And I highly doubt anybody else has ever typed "a spanish sailing ship reaching Nevada" before.
-
@blakeyrat I only pasted it:
-
@mott555
Careful now! You must have offended it.

Careful now! You must have offended it.Simply put, computers don't work for me. Ever. On anything. You could write a one-line "Hello World" program in VB and it will crash when I run it. My sister has this special ability, too, cash registers BSOD on her when she's a customer at Wal-Mart and such, but some of her anti-tech aura has transferred to me since she switched careers and no longer works in IT.
-
@mott555 it stopped working for me, too. Or maybe it just really doesn't want to draw a guitar.

Speak of the devil. Just got a text from her. She's mad because the ATM BSOD'd when she tried to use it, but it still charged her a $3 transaction fee.

Feed it a stray cat...

How did I miss this thread before? Hilarious.
@ben_lubar Why is the cake reading both happy birthday and happy fathers's day?
