@dkf And the "stable coins" are what the horse deposited in the stable before it left.
Sometimes, you may find them on the way after the horse walked along...

@LaoC this time will be different!
-
@LaoC You'd have to be loony to put your money in Luna.
-
@HardwareGeek So, people who hodl Luna can be called lunatics?

@Atazhaia They're Terrable investors for sure.

Copyright law vs nfts! Fight! Fight!

My gut feeling tells me that copyright law would win that one in court. Whatever the blockchain does as a response is probably worthy.

I mean, one is the law (even if a terrible one in this case) and the other is some morons yelling “you can’t stop us!” So, yeah…

It will be interesting to get some kind of ruling about how the law perceives NFTs. But...what did they actually put on the blockchain? Also:
She said that he made the sketches and gave them to her during an 'impromptu rehearsal' for the proposed photo session, which never ultimately occurred.
I dare you to try to read her side of the story at her website:

This whole thing is fractally fucked up. Or made up. If you disable the background image, you'll be treated to stuff like this:
Regardless of what the investigator uncovered, I was to be an enemy of either Harvey Weinstein and his zealous crew of litigious aids or The Bloods and The Crips if they were to get discovered.

IDGI. What would these things be used for? We know that current blockchain stuff is too slow and expensive to actually function as currency. Most of my dollars are already digital for all intents and purposes.

From TFA:
Barratt's attorney Todd Spodek furiously disputes that claim, and has filed a counternotice with OpenSea citing legal precedents that allow the purchaser of a copyrighted work to re-sell or gift the work as they please.
Yes, she can sell or give it away. She can't make copies, not even one digital NFT.
'The artwork and the underlying copyright are Anna's and she can dispose of it any way her little hipster heart desires,' Spodek told DailyMail.com.
Also, those sketches are ugly AF. I've seen better drawings by 3 year-olds. I wouldn't buy those if you paid me to take them.

Moral of the story: If you steal monopoly money from others, get more monopoly money handed to you for free.

If Weinstein wins, she'll be ordered to take down the JPG and the lucky buyer would still own what they've always owned, a token with a URL in it

The goal is to have the central banks directly emit "digital cash". It would still be centralized and use a regular database as opposed to a blockchain so it would be essentially realtime for transfers (although I'm not sure why a government would implement such a thing when it lets the banker lobby prevent a law that would simply make realtime transfers mandatory) while ensuring everybody can have a bank account regardless of profitability and making tax evasion, offshore banking etc. harder. Basically nothing to do with Shitcoin.

And in the category of trying to pile as many dumbs as possible on top of each other:
- Arts festival inviting NFT artist
- Said artist has plagiarized her art by tracing others
- Also has a history of racist and transphobic remarks/artwork
- She excuses tracing by comparing it to her nation's museums having artifacts stolen by "occidental soldiers"
- The people who accused her of racism "loves the central banking system"
- Also plays the "woman of color" card, because obviously her critics are also "big corporations" that are out to discredit her because she's that
The fact that cryptobros/broettes think that "central banking system lover" is an insult that works on anyone is kinda cute, though. Is that their version of " well, you're a doodoohead" kindergarden insult?

I’m still confused about how shit on the blockchain can be stolen.
-
@DogsB same way any other scam occurs: hack the human, get them to go somewhere they shouldn’t, and then mug them for their wallet.

@DogsB On the one hand, they stole a lot of money.
On the other hand, it's in cryptocurrency.

Essentially, you convince someone to cryptographically sign a public bill of sale (or you hack them and impersonate them and do it yourself).

If something was never yours to begin with, can it be stolen?
