@dkf The ironic part about that is how in that article linked above they basically stated "The EU thinks they can just wait and the UK will cave at one point or another. They don't realize there's a potential for a no-deal Brexit". And yet, waiting and hoping for different terms is exactly their own strategy.

The brexit deal needs to be ratified by all EU member states; no deal is the default. If, for any one of the 27 member states (excluding the UK), the negotiated deal is significantly worse than no deal, then it's no deal.
This alone also means that having any part of Ireland outside the EU customs union is not going to fly - because just like all other members, Ireland has a veto on the deal.

StackOverflow: every single question has like 27 comments reading: "don't have discussions in the comments, comments are clarifying the question".
Then why the fuck are they called "comments" and not, like, "clarifications" or "request more infos" or something?
Like why are SO people so surprised and upset that people are MAKING COMMENTS in the COMMENT section.

Almost correct. We recognized pretty much from the beginning that there's potential for a Hard Brexit. We stated as much years ago.

@PleegWat Turns out that Gibraltar is a similar hot-button issue for Spain as well.

I recall bringing this up in a RPG Stack Exchange site in response to another forum member's post there....

@Tsaukpaetra I bet they'll never fix it because the kind of jerks who post there love yelling at people and delete their shit more than they like having a welcoming community which correctly-labelled widgets.

Ah, yes, it was @DoctorJones , and this is my surviving comment (my answer was deleted):

Jenkins stores user profiles as directories, and doesn't escape them, therefore crafted names like
/
an../../config.xml
could destroy Jenkins' data.

Yeah, here's my answer. I was attempting to bring some sanity back into the thread, but as ever, the SO mods were like:

@DoctorJones I'm kinda offended actually that there are still comments on your answer from over two months ago!

Isn't it always the way?

@boomzilla Yeah seriously, they gotta speed up that deletion of user content. DELETE DELETE DELETE.
I like how one of the suggestions in that thread is "mark the comment so a mod can come YELL AT THE PERSON LIKE AN ASSHOLE". Right; great solution there. (I'm paraphrasing, but not by much.)

Wow...
FTA:
Election Systems and Software acknowledged that it had "provided pcAnywhere remote connection software … to a small number of customers between 2000 and 2006," which was installed on the election-management system ES&S sold them.
So any elections during GWB's term may be suspect. That's concerning, but in the relatively distant past. How would we remedy them if they were significantly affected?
The company didn't respond to questions from Motherboard asking when these customers removed the software—whether ES&S had instructed them to do so back in 2007 when the company says it stopped installing the software on new systems it sold or whether it had only recently told customers to remove it following concerns raised in the 2016 presidential elections that Russian hackers were targeting election networks in the US. As late as 2011 pcAnywhere was still being used on at least one ES&S customer's election-management system in Venango County, Pennsylvania.
Oh, wait! Up through 2011 for sure?! And possibly on to 2016?!? Man, if this doesn't give ammunition to the Obama-cheated-his-way-into-the-presidency! folks, I don't know what else could.

Not both. Either only numbers or only letters.
Either you have to include at least two letters or else all the characters must be numeric.

https://i.imgur.com/DzCGWfT.pngWhen reading your previous message, I was gonna reply "oh, sure, you had to have an underscore in your username, right? You're the kind of person who likes to spoil the fun for everybody else ". Then I thought "nah, that's a cheap joke, even for TDWTF."
Once again, it proves that web development is worse than satire.
Double underscore. pie__flavor. I wanted pie_flavor, but that wasn't available, so I signed up as pie__flavor. Why the fuck does a double underscore break anything. especially considering the Twitch I signed up with is pie___flavor.
In SQL, double underscore is the escape sequence to match on a single underscore in the value in a
like
comparison.

So apparently the password manager of
chrome orOS X keychain includes non-displayable characters in the generated password. An ultra-effective tool against shoulder surfing, not so nice if you enter the password by hand on another device...
Finally found out what was wrong by pasting the password into sublime text and seeing <XXXX> in grey just before the last character...

Our WordPress website's control panel has no less than 13 warning or info messages from plugins in every page.
It's not my job to maintain it though so I definitely won't touch them.

Just uninstall them

Which is more work:
- complaining about annoying messages
- uninstalling themes

At this moment, uninstalling is more work. I'm on the themes dashboard, and my only options are to activate them or update them. I don't see a delete/uninstall anywhere.

I don't see a delete/uninstall anywhere.
You have the first part done: it must be disabled before you can uninstall it.

Are you using the standard search, or the "shopping" tab?

WtfWebApp has checkboxes for deleting comments.
You can shift-click them to select/deselect all the ones in between.
It also doesn't reload the page when you approve a comment.

Sorry, no standardization means no easy to find replacements. Sucks doesn't it .
You could give me $50k and I'll start a laptop company with guaranteed cheap replacement parts for at least 20 years.
-
@anonymous234 I can find replacements, both genuine $brand and 3rd-party. Lots of places have genuine $brand for $$$$, and 3rd-party can be had for $$. I was trying to find a particular site I had seen earlier (at work) that had a particularly good price on a high-capacity 3rd-party replacement, but couldn't remember the name of the seller. I still have the window open on my work laptop, so I'll email the URL to myself when I get to work, then I can buy it tonight without having to search again.

Did nobody test this? Even a basic “can I make this work once in the most favourable conditions” test? Or is testing not Agile enough for them?

According to "their" FAQ, it's all done by hand by one guy.
Hold on, lemme see if they have any kind of contact info...
Edit: Nope. Not even WhoIs can help there.
