:wtf: How can this be so wrong??? (AKA the Discopocalypse thread)

150 post upthread or so

Yeah, I followed up by trying a reset using the email address I had signed up with, and it said that there were no accounts associated with that email.
Well, in that case… Since there isn't an
abarker
account at meta.d and your email address isn't associated with any existing account, it seems like you would be able to make a new one…I wouldn't recommend it though. Unless you intend to stalk-by-liking or something evil like that.

I'm not going to bother. Since they went to the trouble of anonymizing my account, they probably blacklisted my email as well. Not that it's all that hard to get around.

It's good for email filters. GMail now auto-tags stuff for my sock puppets and sorts various subscriptions into the appropriate folders so I can get to them when I have the time and inclination.

Zounds that sounds amazing!
Until I realized that some dumb-luck guy probably tried to sign up with spaces in the user name, and got denied because john+jacob+jingleheimer+schmidt@gmail.com was already taken....
-
You can't delete users after a while, unless you delete their posts.
So their own limitations taken in the name of Civilized Discourse just bit them in the ass.
there we go!
Oooh, another bug! @abarker, would you like to report it?
-
gmail also ignore dots. I used it to create a duplicated account in some discourse forum
-
gmail also ignore dots
Well, kinda, yeah, but in a slightly different way.
name.surname@gmail.com == namesurame@gmail.com
but
name.surname@gmail.com != name@gmail.com
while
name+surname@gmail.com == name@gmail.com

@abarker, would you like to report it?
Sure! Oh, wait …
-
name.surname@gmail.com == namesurame@gmail.com
Does this mean the character exactly in the middle of the word following the dot is excluded? Or fourth character after the dot is skipped?
Actually I'm going to assume the dot means skip any character after the dot that matches the first character of the address.
-
No, just the dot is ignored, it doesnt affect surrounding characters
-
His joke. You missed it.
-
-
there is no explanation for @accalia.
-
Well yes, we already know this, but I was intending to have you explain that
surame
!=
surname
:P

You keep laughing at my... speech.. impediment.
You'll see what happens... when I show the Combine... where you live.

i guess i'm so used to correcting these in my ehad i never noticed.

I was thinking we were actually going to get a discussion of the distinction between an athame and a surame.

Sufferball Goalie Bot!
Sufferball - A human inside an Atlasphere studded with cages which release small animals at random - the number of animals outside the cage controls the speed and maneuverability of the goalie. The goal is survival.

I like my version better

Hmm, yes...
What?
-
Your picture that I failed to quote. Aside from the weird glass thingie up top it looks just like a Sufferball Goalie Bot.
-
Ah.
I have too much blood in my caffeine system so it was a little tough to comprehend. Probably... 8 on the @xaade scale

Are you sure you don't have a stand-up comedy act as a techworker from India? Or possibly some medicine stones with holes in them?

Maybe he's SpectateJeff?

Ok, I moved on to the FWP thread to catch up. Is there a phrase for being 'd elsethread? Because I was.

I just am here to get a 360 on how this soc project is going.

Well. your 360 is giving me 1440!

Since you shuffled, I took the AoO..
How did you get another action after your Deception check, though? Are we to believe you made your Deception as a move-equivalent action leaving you with another?

Invisible yellow posts?
Wow, great way to keep the community in loop!
Also, I'm pretty sure that it's possible to link to a topic from a PM? Or did that get bikeshedded away?
-
Jeez. So all the disciples can talk about what a prick the poster is, without the
prickposter realizing?
-
I think they're going to fix the TDWTF problemset as they see it.
-
Also, I'm pretty sure that it's possible to link to a topic from a PM?
Yes. You can even send the message from the post via the flag interface. The same interface you can contact the staff with.
-
Flagging is a to...something?
-
Bikeshedding actual fucking progress.
-
New feature: "whisper", replies in topics that are only visible to staff.
So...flags? They already have flags, and they make sense the way that they work now by sending a PM.
What happens if they get replied to? Do we end up with some spider-fuck-web of a reply chain?
Also, there is just no fucking way that this does not end poorly. Those dumb bastards can't even keep email addresses from leaking and they think they are capable of inlining secret squirrel within the thread and preserving privacy?
