WTF is happening with Windows 10? And nothing else
-
I think you have psychological issues if you have this many emotions around logging in.
He sounds more reasonable than, say, someone getting worked up over how a long menu displays.
-
Buy online at BestBuy. Yes. If I wanted that, if go to amazon.
-
It's also a setting in windows that you can turn off.
-
Oops, didn't notice it wasn't available in stores.
I'm fortunate in that I've got about half a dozen place I could drive to within 20 minutes and buy one, if I didn't have spares: no fewer than 3 Fry's, Micro Center, Altex, and there's probably a couple more.
-
SATA cables are the responsibility of the company that sold you the disk controller (99.9% of the time, your motherboard provider.)
Dells will come with enough cables for the drives the computer shipped with. If the motherboard has extra ports, you'd have to supply your own data cable. I dunno, but I would expect most other of the big names like HP to be similar.
I only bring it up because there's a LOT of Dells out there, although Dell probably figures that the vast majority of their customers won't need that 3rd (or whatever) cable.
-
Then I guess the only answer to your concerns is: penis.
-
I'm not concerned about my penis. Are you concerned about yours? If so, I don't want to know.
I've been told they don't atrophy from disuse, so if your current dry spell ever ends, you've got that going for you.

Way back on OS X 10.4
It was gone again in 10.5 so I guess they decided that it was a Bad Idea after all.
-
I know I had to sign into my Apple ID when I first setup my Macbook with 10.7, but I think that's only for the store since I can definitely login to my computer without an internet connection or anything.
-
I think that's only for the store
It's for any Apple online service that doesn't support fully anonymous use. So that's the non-update parts of the store (updates seem to not need it), the music stuff, the online storage space, stuff like that. But I don't think it's ever necessary to link an account.
Or maybe I just told it to get lost and it remembered that I'd told it that.

I've just found a setting that's made me very happy!
It's in Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad
-
I'm installing it now in a VM. The thing I want to know is how deep do I need to let MS stick its cock into my mouth in terms of integration with their cloud. And is it worth it.
Congratulations, you made me choke on my coffee reading that, to keep from laughing out loud in the office and having people think I am crazy.

someone with more money than sense?
My father falls in to that category and even he shops online.
(Of course, he "shops online" by calling me up and having me do it for him and have it shipped to his house... It happens so much that his CC# is stored in my Amazon account.)
-
Sweet. That's on by default too. (Just installed a clean w10 from iso)
-
I can definitely login to my computer without an internet connection or anything.
And you think that's impossible with Windows 8/Windows 10?
-
Just randomly, or in response to the user doing something?
-

No, that was someone else.
-
I imagine it's in the mousewheel settings section or something.
-
It could be random but it seems to happen to me at the same time as I scroll my mouse wheel up or down over an inactive window.

So, I just finished installing win10 and it has blue screened 3 times in a row, wtf? For all the shit people give 8, I don't recall the last time it showed a bsod. Of course the real culprit is some stupid AMD driver ... But M$ us evil and whatnot
-
Now I try to change Edge search provider and voila, it seems u can't, even when they tell u do.
-
You need to go to the relevant search page (google.com, for example) and then go to advanced settings and add a search provider.
-
Ë_ÑÕ_RÉPRO.
WOMMM. (MOM'S)
For some God awful reason she wanted win 10 at release .¯_(ツ)_/¯
-
Because u think I didn't try that? All options are grayed out and unclickable
-
If you've navigated to the right page and it will show up above the buttons. If it doesn't I imagine it means the provider doesn't support OpenSearch.
-
So google.com doesn't support OpenSearch?
-
-
I can see what your problem is. Compare my screenshot:
the buttons were greyed out for me too until I clicked on google.
-
No such thing as that on my screen
-
This worked for me.
Ayy, custom emote completion is back.
-
No such thing as that on my screen
I believed you after your first screenshot.
I did a quick bit of Googling just now--not sure what to search for exactly--but see if this page helps:

ETA: An MS MVP says http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie8-windows_vista/cant-install-google-search-provider/c2d57255-39dc-4203-8461-98266952ffa0 here that changing your language/country to English/US might make it appear. (Hopefully you would be able to change back afterwards and have Google Search not vanish.)
-
-
That's IE, not Edge.
@serguey123, have you done the usual reboot, checked for updates, etc.?
-
That's IE, not Edge.
Well, I found it by googling "can't find google search provider for edge".
-
Yes. No updates available and because of shitty amd drivers I had to reboot a few times already.
@FrostCat it is in English/US, always has been. There is a workaround cited in their support page for providers that don't support open search. I guess I could try that
-
Best buy has sold me my keyboard, mouse, headset, awful test laptop, and cheap ssd. As long as that's all you want, they're fine. Nothing wrong with Corsair products.
-
Just upgraded to Win 10. Bugs I've encountered so far:
- Explorer restarts all the time
- Loads of graphics glitches (I'm on a Surface, so no crappy third-party drivers that could be the issue)
- Windows tries to update the Scanner app, but fails every single time
- For some reason, the Mail app forgot all passwords during the upgrade
- I cannot send Microsoft's calendar app as the default calendar app
- Edge keeps pretending pages are fully loaded (cancel icon replaced with reload icon, progress indicator gone) up to 5 seconds before it actually displays anything
-
Must be AMD.
-
Nope, my Surface Pro 3 has an Intel chip
-
I heard they were putting out a firmware update for those specifically, actually.
-
Yeah, I installed a firmware update immediately after upgrading. Didn't help.
Also, I just managed to crash everything by navigating to the "Info" tab in the Settings app. Suddenly all my touches were either ignored or registered as drag operations, then the Settings app crashed, then Edge was moved up by a few pixels so I couldn't even access the title bar anymore (not that it would have worked anyway). The only window that was still responding was a Virtualbox windows running a Ubuntu VM. After about 5 minutes in that state, all apps restarted.
Holy crap, this new Windows is about as stable as KDE 4.0

Both incredibly stable systems IME.
-
-
-
I don't know what you're doing wrong. Both my Surface Pro 3 and my desktop don't show anything like this.
-
I'unno, I had a hang or two in the Settings app, and Cortana is still a mess. The WM seems to be designed nice, but I think they got FSF rejects to actually code it.
-
am i the only one who thinks the solution to that is "don't do
drugsporn"?oh i am?
ah....
carry on then.
