@jarry There's also this one.

@anonymous234 two things:
- It's turtles all the way down.
- Isn't that last statement the absolute truth?

Would've been somewhat more fitting to Jewish mythology if they had put a piece of paper into the mouth of the clay figure ;)

Yeah, that's usually how the fake history is told.

Are you trolling, being super-pedantic, or have some secret knowledge none of the rest of us do?

Now it's "secret knowledge" that any new country's formation basically consists of getting the rest of the world to acknowledge it?
-
@el_heffe Not to mention that Poland would open a can of worms if they went after this seriously.
After all, they got East Prussia, Pomerania and both Lower and Upper Silesia. So, sure guys: You get a trillion and give back those four regions?

It's the European way.

No, that would possibly fall under "uber-pedantic" in a thread about comic country stereotypes. More significantly though, I don't see how your question relates to the comic being "fake history" as @xaade asserted, since countries in the comic acknowledge Israel.
-
@dreikin the comic portrayed the UN as some magical fayrie of poofing to real countryhood. There's nothing magical about it, and the UN was entirely irrelephant -- it was the agreement of the countries that made Israel a "real" country, not the formal document that they got together and wrote to that effect.
Similarly, that a physical diploma having does not of magically poofing you to be am real college graduate; it's a formal recognition as to the fact that you are one. It doesn't make you one.

I think of it more like you worked on a volcano project at home unsolicited, and a teacher asked what you did, decided to have a science fair and told you to bring it. At the fair the teacher takes credit for the project because they suggested the fair, and grades it as passing, claiming that means you actually have a project.

I grade that "uber ic".
Which is, of course, perfectly fine in these here parts.

Given how political views are distributed in Poland, the answer in at least the latter three regions would probably be a resounding "yes".
Luckily (or unluckily, depending on your point of view) the claim is just there to rile up the anti-German tendencies in Poland because the current ruling party's strategy is to set fire to all the foreign affairs and play the victim card before the voters.
It's ridiculous when viewed from the outside, but Germany will either cough some cash up to shut us up (in which case the good Party got us money) or not (in which case there's more fuel to the "Germans are Nazis and Poland is a victim" dumpster fire).

@boomzilla I thought America and Britain didn't talk like that.

@pie_flavor Oh, I don't know. I just expect stuff like that whenever I read a polandball.

@cartman82 Right before I started reading this, Pandora started playing this:

@anonymous234 I can't tell which is more amazing - the fact that we're doing it, or the fact that it's working.

I don't know how you define "working" but it seems to be the wrong definition. You do realize the steel consuming industry in the US is way larger than the steel producing industry, right?
-
@rhywden Yes, that's one of the things Trump's been complaining about. Let's see if he manages to fix that too.
-

Yes. A steel factory is something you can just conjure from the sky.
-
@rhywden No, generally they get conjured from the earth. Not a lot of solid matter in the sky.
-
@pie_flavor The point is that you cannot simply ramp up production to the degree needed here inside mere months.
The last time your country did this it had the same effect it'll have now: Net loss of jobs.
-
@rhywden Tariff is an extra fee, not a complete ban. Steel factories will ramp up in time because it'll be profitable, but meanwhile it's still possible to use foreign steel.
-

It'll still drive prices up. Just like last time. Which makes the products less competetive. Just like last time. Which will cost jobs. Just like last time.
-
@rhywden Meh. Market imbalances tend to fix themselves these days.
-
@pie_flavor said in Polandball appreciation of thread - now with added burgers!:

In this case by increasing the price of steel and reducing jobs in industries that rely on steel?
-
@jaloopa No, that's the imbalance.
-
@pie_flavor So the balance will be restored when Trump leaves office and somebody sane removes the tariff? Makes sense
-
@jaloopa Oh ye of little faith.
-
@pie_flavor You should stop all
tradeimports altogether and produce everything in the US. That'll create so many jobs...Now back to Polandball...

(The first might eventually be true, but the signing has already been delayed once.)

I don't watch world cup, but these are fun to zoom through.
Round 1
Round 2
-
@cartman82 Argentina in the round 2 should be shooting itself too, but with the red rage eyes. They absolutely fell apart last week. I'm hoping for Iceland to get the win against Croatia, and Argentina to get rekt by Nigeria.

Oh, these sweet, sweet tears.

@cartman82 I have the feeling one needs to have watched the game to get the humor in some of those. Some I look at and just say "Wat?"
