Probably wouldn't have been much better in someone's right hand, then.
Yes, they would. When the only scissors I have won't cut left-handed, I switch hands. They work, in almost all cases.
Why are you using such shitty scissors? You're an adult now... not using shitty scissors if we don't want to is one of the perks that we get.
Chiefly this occurs when I don't have my own scissors, perhaps because I'm not at home, and because they work perfectly well right-handed the right-handed person who owns them reasonably doesn't consider them shitty.

I have a better trick than that:
And it's totally ambidextrous
Pfah. It's only got an edge on one side! How do you expect to cut carpet with that wimpy thing?
-
@TimeBandit said in TIL (about the Dark Arts of HTML):
And it's totally ambidextrous
It's not. But it's more usable with the opposite hand than scissors.

@RaceProUK
I'm a little curious about exactly how bad the comment section got that he had to turn it off less than 48 hours after publishing the article.
-
@izzion "Death Star destruction was an inside job! XWing fuel cannot melt steel beams!"
(as for the article, I never thought it was the equatorial trench and am actually surprised that so many people thought so. The difference in scale is, to me, so obvious that the confusion is impossible?)

It's only part of the overall piece, IIRC. Also, it's all the better for being kept short…
-
@dkf said in TIL (about the Dark Arts of HTML):

Yes. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Also_sprach_Zarathustra_(Strauss):
The piece is divided into nine sections played with only three definite pauses. Strauss named the sections after selected chapters of the book:
- Einleitung, oder Sonnenaufgang (Introduction, or Sunrise)
- Von den Hinterweltlern (Of Those in Backwaters)
- Von der großen Sehnsucht (Of the Great Longing)
- Von den Freuden und Leidenschaften (Of Joys and Passions)
- Das Grablied (The Song of the Grave)
- Von der Wissenschaft (Of Science and Learning)
- Der Genesende (The Convalescent)
- Das Tanzlied (The Dance Song)
- Nachtwandlerlied (Song of the Night Wanderer)
Only the "Einleitung, oder Sonnenaufgang" section was used in the movie.

TIR that I have been confusing Jeff Atwood and Joel Spolsky. I had always been a little confused why people would berate him ruthlessly in one thread and then praise something he said in another thread. I had figured it was just a stopped clock thing.
-
@djls45 said in TIL (about the Dark Arts of HTML):

That's possible even without confusing him with someone else. Some of the things he's written do make good sense, or at least appear to on the surface. Not until you compare the walk he walks to the talk he talks does it really become obvious how ruthlessly he deserves to be berated.

@accalia said in TIL (about the Dark Arts of HTML):

Some mice have a built in thing where their movement snaps to perfectly horizontal lines if you're close enough. This makes them great for drawing straight lines in Paint, and horrible for anything else.
The more you know!

Have you tried holding Shift while drawing lines?
