What favorite UI element will we lose next? Everything?

Yes, this is an automatic feature after the server has been serving for too long.

Before or after it's decided to munge the topic titles?

Moar research is required.
Wasn't it @matches that broke it last time? Or was that coincidence?
-
Surely there could be an admin panel of some sort to enable and disable features.
-

Maybe. We don't really know when it stopped working. He certainly abused it more than anyone.
-
You'd think so....

Didn't take too long for
<ins>

to suddenly become popular today...

FYI the new pg gem is now in place so next time you update you will get it and maybe fix the dreaded white page of doom. In other news, topic list is 2x faster on android (and other browsers as well).

Point of pedantry:
Android isn't a browser.

I'm with you guys this time, but next time I'll be rebelling against your rebellion.

-
Nah...
-
-
probably.
Hidden comments will get you every time:
<!-- Not that I would -->
Also, I apparently didn't need your flag!

Well, she is indirectly responsible for at least one of your flags. So you can give her credit for that!
Filed Under: Indirect flagging should be a new sport around here. Would probably lead to very interesting hidden messages :D

i wonder.... how many times has that happened so far. i think this is at least the second time my commenting that i wasn't flagging got enough other people to flag to hand out a badger....

New badge: INB4 Badgers
-
New badge: INB4 Badgers
so what, using a hidden comment to call that a post will get a badge before the badge is awarded (of course you can't cast a flag or your inb4 doesn't count) ne?
that sounds like it would work.... but daaaang that could get messy politically fast!

I blame someone exporting unicode titles, and blank post disease ate discoexport
-
You sort your notifications indicator out?
-
Yeah. For the record that was a stupid way to have to do it.
Green Notifications also shouldn't always be on top, or should only be 30 percent of your notification tab.
-
Goodbye stars. It was nice meeting you.
Edit: looks like I was Hanzo'd by boomzilla by about 13 hours in the WTForum thread.
-
What do you guys think of this suggestion on meta for removing the categories column?
I like it, though I'd still subtly colorize the category name under the topic titles.
-
Are they writing such commit titles just to tick us off?
-
Other than no longer being able to tell what category the topics are in it's great!
-

I have that thread (where these were mentioned) on
Watching
over at meta.d.

So, they have nuked the likes column and stars, but provided a css patch to hide other things..
At least they are consistently discoursistent.
-
What do you guys think of this suggestion on meta for removing the categories column?
Not bad. If mousing over the coloured bar at the side tells you the category, that'd work out quite reasonably.
-
-
Unless I'm missing something, you can't order by another column and still see the likes, so there's no way to e.g.look through recent posts with a lot of likes
-
https://meta.discourse.org/?order=likes
How far are we from being able to have a local admin put the column back in for reals?
-
That is just ...
WTF.Why does that column only show based on
admin settings || some query string that indicates search order
?

Next Beta - February.
2015 at the moment...
-
-
Sure...but that doesn't mean the column will be in the next beta.
I'm presuming this post indicates that it will be.
-
That's probably true.
-
What do you guys think of this suggestion on meta for removing the categories column?
The main problem: you lose the context of nested categories.
-

The name of the category is below the title, in grey and between brackets. The main problem: you lose the context of nested categories.
I thought about that too, but it can be solved by having as many bars as necessary. AFAICT this isn't possible with element borders, but you could use a thin cell with colored divs.
-

Oh, so it is. I just didn't recognise those strange category names they have over there…
-
REMOVE ALL THE THINGS!
-
I agree, remove dicsource as much as possible.
-
yeah, not gonna happen, but we are likely to ship a couple of themes out-of-the-box sometime this year.
In another note, most of my bookmark refactor is done, still got to do kbd shortcuts which I will get to when I get back in 2 weeks.
In other news, Jeff and I decided we should get started on a full page search page, so this will be on my plate for next month.

What is this symbol?
I honestly can't tell.
(Is knowing how Discourse works a barrier to discourse?)
