What favorite UI element will we lose next? Everything?

Your worst buttumption is that there actually is a roadmap.

Liked solely for the abbr tag
abuse.

My understanding was that the topic bookmark filter would only show topics where the OP was bookmarked.
This is probably the simplest and most authoritative set of answers:

That's kind of the point I was making. If you look at the image, all that's really on the roadmap is the stuff that's already done. The future is just a big question mark.

https://meta.discourse.org/t/minimal-discourse/23288/99?u=boomzillaGot it now. I don't like how they are planning to mix everything together. I have some bookmarks in topics that are basically dead now. The bookmarked posts still have useful info in them. Why would I want those to show up in the same filter as my favorite topics?

For private categories/threads, what about something like eye-slash from fontawesome?
I'm not going over to meta.d to suggest it, but it seems like a better icon than a lock to me since it indicates non-visibility ....

Already suggested over there by someone else. Jeff posted a GIF of a woman's eye getting slashed by a razor-blade in response.

It's been mentioned over there: https://meta.discourse.org/t/minimal-discourse/23288/2

Nice touch including the link, but I already hanzo'd you!
-
:shockedface
I mean, why should we use icons that have semantic meaning, when everything can just be a quintuple entendre? Isn't that what people WANT from the internet?
-
Yeah, I was going to edit my post to say hanzo'd, and you hanzo'd that, too! Apparently it's ok to post gore gifs if "This is a very, very famous movie!"
-
Isn't that what people WANT from the internet?
Not really, no:

We decide what DiscoDrama is. DiscoDevs do not.
If you try to expand Sam's quote in the above post, it can't, because it's been deleted. But it just replaces the quote with "Loading...", instead of something more informative, like "This post has been deleted." And if you hit the up-arrow, it scrolls you to the spot where the post isn't.
-
The deleted stuff really isn't that interesting.
-
Oh, I know, I read it before he deleted. I was just commenting on how now, it'll say "Loading..." if you try to expand. As if it's working on loading something.
-
Yeah but this is consistent. Figured it was time Discoshit did something consistent!

Deleted posts that revealed @abarker's usage for the bookmark and favorite feature
@abarker.... are you hiding something? ;-)

-
well if you don't want to share that's fine, but that doesn't mean we can't be quietly curious!

It's the Most Advanced Mozilla user guy who wants grumpy cat. From @Lorne_Kates' sig on the old forum (and a thread about that guy and the study he appeared in).
See, e.g.,

Does anyone else think that a DiscoDev using a ("Disco" + $VARIABLE) term is like a white guy using the n-word?
You can't use that term! That's our terminology!
-
I checked Discopædia to see if it was already there, and it was, posted by @abarker, in October! Sam did his research. Actually, too much research...

A mere like was not enough.
#DiscourseisDownDontCode
-
Wouldn't #DiscoUpDontCode be more consistent with the original hashtag?
-
I am so out of the loop, that I don't even know what hashtag you are talking about.
Also, I hate hashtags.

I invite readers to improve on my poor efforts.

It's the Hands Up Don't Shoot thing about the moron from near St Louis who attacked a cop and got shot. IOW, what he should have done instead of what he did do.
-
#PantsUpDontLoot

moron from near St Louis who attacked a cop multiple times and eventually got shot and all the SJW's went apeshit over.
FTFY, and now I got it.
-
Don't forget the phrased is based on testimony that turned out to be entirely made up.

And also idiots in the NFL got involved...

You had me at "idiot."

Well I've tried that in
- CSS/HTML - Header
- Text Content - Top of page
- Text Content - HTML Head
And none of them seemed to work.

We probably need to update. *gulp*

Jeff heard us complain "don't be like Google Gmail!" So decided to use Firefox feature reduction.

removing starring altogether
Remove zebra stripes
You heard it here first, folks: Jeff Atwood hates the stars and stripes.
-
Not to jump to Jeff's defence, but the minimal instance was someone else, and his post summarising the changes is mostly saying why he doesn't think particular ones are suitable for core Discourse.
So basically, MiniCourse is Doing It Wrong
-
But those are things he's been talking about doing in general. That particular discussion just happened there.
-
He seems happy to keep New and Unread in the UI, which is the main one of the removals that would piss me off
-
I am utterly baffled at some of the things that people want to rip out.
-
Can we rip out the message bodies? Or do we already have that in place with blank post disease?
