@ChaosTheEternal I know it's still there, and I have been checking periodically (for certain values of "periodically") but every time there's been no new games available.
-
@ChaosTheEternal said in Game Deals Thread:
@hungrier They aren't seemingly announcing it, or putting a link to it, but it's still there. I'm guessing at this point, it's just a "keep checking back periodically" sort of deal. Right now, if you have the Saint's Row games, they'll import those.
They announce when new games are added.

@JBert said in Game Deals Thread:
@homoBalkanus Just make sure you already have an Ars account - it seems their backend got broken by all the inrush of new members.
I don't :(
-
@Unperverted-Vixen On their website only, instead of, you know, through an email newsletter, or even piggybacking it on their weekly "here's what we have on sale" emails.
-
@ChaosTheEternal They have an RSS feed. Dunno how to get to it, but it's on Feedly, so there must be one.
-
@homoBalkanus There's gonna be a lot of disappointed people when they learn, in contrast to Witcher 3, the first Witcher game is really really shitty.
-
Starpoint Gemini 2 is available for free on Steam until May 24th, 10AM Pacific.
-
@ChaosTheEternal Thanks. Lots of recent negative reviews, though.

Bought it with Money, they gave it for free on 23rd may 2017! seriously??? on steam
Yeah, that sucks.
No just no
Ah, very constructive criticism.
Unplayable. Fonts cannot be read - look my screenshots.
Problem since 2014, not solved. Unoficial hotfix BigFonts - not help. At least for me.Resolutions change in external options, not easy to find.
At least this guy said something useful.
I've added it to my library (I think. I didn't actually download it).
It's free, so the worst it can happen is I'll waste time in the future giving it a try. Maybe.

Rising Storm is free for the next 45 hours

Public beta. Free. No idea if it's any good.

Payday 2 is now (temporarily?) free

Until the 5 million free copies they offered are redeemed (as of June 12, it's claimed 4 million copies have already been redeemed), then it goes back to full price ($20, then all the DLC in a bundle for $45, whenever they make said bundle available). Not a bad thing to jump on, and I still play it if anyone wants to.
-
@coldandtired I already snatched it when it was free before. I have yet to play it.
My understanding is they are going freemium pay-to-win anyway, so my chances of ever doing it are slim.
-
@cartman82 They already tried the micro-transactions thing (think CS:GO/TF2's crates and keys system, that's what they copied but have since dropped the keys) and pissed off their fanbase before.
Their current stated intent is, now all the DLC is to be sold in a bundle as the "Ultimate Edition" for $45 (down from the ~$180-200 they were separately, on top of a $20 game which was $50 at launch), and all future DLC will be free (except for a character pack DLC they previewed around the same time they made that announcement, but that one is "charitable" which is why it isn't free).
So, a correction to my previous post, the free copies are the base game only, all those players who got the game free will face a $45 purchase to unlock the rest of the content (half of the characters, weapons, weapon mods, and the ability to host a number of heists). If anything, I see the developers using this bundle as a means to not do huge discounts during Steam sales (or at least to reset how much off the discount is).
Besides, the way the game is, what you could get that would be closest to "pay to win" barely confers any notable distinct advantage, and the game is entirely cooperative. If there's anything to significantly complain about, it's how the game updates (keep about 40GB of space free when the game has an update).

Killing Floor is free! Free I tell you!

Croc 2.
EDIT: he's probably referring to Freedom Planet, that game that's "not Sonic 2, but an incredible simulation!"
Or I could be talking about Sonic 3 & Knuckles (which I prefer to Sonic 2). Or I could be talking about Super Mario 64.I remember Sonic & Knuckes. You can plug in Sonic 2 in there and play it as Knuckles.

@coldandtired I've been watching this game's price plummet sale after sale, and now they finally reached the rock bottom.
Shame. Looks very pretty, but they obviously mishandled the gameplay. I'll give it a try.
-
@cartman82 It's also been made free at GOG. It doesn't sound too promising but it does look nice.

Same here. Every time I looked at it I'd think of getting it, but then I'd look at the reviews and remember why not to.

"Install game" doesn't actually install the game, it only registers to the account. Which is better than expected.
-
@zecc it did actually start install for me. Maybe you did it through browser and not Steam client?

Yes. The browser does not know if you have the Steam client installed. There are no other differences.

I did it through the client and it only registered, offering the option to install on the same screen. That's what it usually does for me, too, so I suppose it's a setting somewhere if that's different for you? I don't see an option for it, though.
Also, now I know why it's free: they're coming out with another game:

That's how it works for me as well and I'm not aware of any option that changes that.
-
@dreikin maybe I haven't noticed I had to click "install" twice.

Free for a couple of days

Also free for the next few hours
-
Psychonauts is available for free for 1 day and 18 hours (from the time of this post):

@chaostheeternal Apparently it isn't giftable, at least not using their official method (checking the gift checkbox on checkout)
-
@hungrier it's giftable via sending someone the key by any text communication protocol, such as Steam chat.
-
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee free for the next 48h on GOG
-
@timebandit Wow, that takes me back. Haven't seen or thought about that game since high school...
-
Not sure if this qualifies as a 'game deal'. I have had a copy of the Portal Bundle sitting in my Steam inventory for a couple of years.

I'll trade someone for a copy of Parallax (which is half the price).

Glad to see that game's held up all these years.
I could never get past area 3.

FWP: I already had it. I think? I also have Syberia 2. I'm not sure if I bought them together, or if they were offered with other games, or what.
I've heard goods things about this game, so it's in my ever-growing list of games to play.
