Yesterday some clearly mentally ill immigrant from Portugal decided to just go ahead and paint his own bike lane on one of the busiest roads in Prague. In a completely unforeseen turn of events he got stopped by the police, and he's been having a hilarious meltdown on the tweeter ever since. Apparently he'll take it all the way up to the EU or some shit, and then we'll all see!
I don't suppose y'all do the "health walk" any more (if ever)?
You don't have vans over there? I guess you're trying for full employment? It only takes one peace officer to drive around sharp corners with somebody hogtied in the back.

So we had some february heavy snowfall, as per usual (happens every winter). Which made my morning commute extra exciting because people can't drive when there are more snowflakes on the road than in the car.
Someone dismantling 100m of dividing fence caused northbound traffic block on the main road, meaning bus delays and the southbound bus I was on had to do double duty so was overfull (I sat on the floor).
After the wrecked car had been cleared there were trucks having got stuck in the long uphill slope before the accident, so traffic was at a standstill. Queue stretched for over 5 km. In the queue there had been another accident of car ramming the ass of another car.
And when getting into town we passed a city bus that had got a garbage truck into the side, at the same place that a year ago a city bus got rammed in the side by a truck and knocked off the road and down the hillside. This time the bus was still on the road, but with broken windows and bits of garbage truck strewn around.
I have a feeling going home may be equally exciting!

You'd think that people would learn. Gradually. Over time.

I learned how to drive drunk in the snow, and vice-versa. Ability to learn is regional, tho. For instance Chicago maintains a huge snow-removal capacity and our drivers will be beaten by competent Polacks if they can't handle a whiteout. However, our simian-colonies in the South are not so.

People don't even understand the concept of: "Don't drive faster than you can brake on the visible road."

status So happy I work from home...
(from 511.org)
As of 2:54 PM, CHP reports that there is emergency roadwork and a severe traffic alert on northbound US-101 at Willow Rd and southbound US-101 at Marsh Rd, in Menlo Park; all lanes are closed. Southbound traffic is being diverted off to Marsh Rd. Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes to avoid the area. There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway.
For people who don't know the Bay area, US101 is a major 4-lane (each way) highway. To be completely shutdown just as rush hour begins... The peninsula is not a place to be driving this afternoon!
edit: (googles a little)
Ah, it's PG&E's fault! (ok, not really - we had extremely high winds earlier this week) from https://www.ktvu.com/news/highway-101-in-menlo-park-shut-for-pge-repairs:
A tree had fallen during the wind storm earlier this week and snapped a power line that spans the 101.

What the hell happened to the quick disconnect? The hose is supposed to be designed to just snap off the pump.

@lolwhat On our first date, my now ex-wife asked me to drive, because by her own admission, she's not a good driver.

She isn't WHQL certified?

@Zerosquare Probably not; she's not very good at driving a computer, either.

The next Autobahn bridge to be blast away: "Talbrücke Rahmede" of the A7 motorway Frankfurt-Dortmund. Length of the bridge 450 meters, height 70 meters - quite a mountainous area there. Date for the blasting: 7 May.
-
@loopback0 Nice. We got one of those in my town too!

Just a kind reminder that think twice before trying to buy a cheap e-motorbike.
Imagine what would happen if it burns while you're riding it. Are you sure you have time to dodge the flame?

For some reason this thought has not occurred to certain people doing certain shenanigans in the at the moment

On a related note, don't charge e-motorbike unattended inside your house.

By gar, you've indicated comprehension! This doesn't take away your Shortest Shell Script award, but it adds a clause.

Galvanization is an old technology, and so isn't fit to be used on a Tesla.
