the country is even shrinking!
File length measured in kilometers...
Even Muricans don't come up with such ideas! The hell we didn't! There's an existing Hopper legend for it even.

MnDOT said special equipment needed to be brought to the scene because the spilled potatoes were freezing to the road.
No report whether they brought out a grater.
-
@JBert Yeah, the reporter made a hash out of that story.

Currently there's a wave of making things easier for cyclists in several cities. For example, normally cyclists are not allowed to drive next to each other and have to bike single file (unless part of a bigger group).
Now, the city of Hannover declared one street a "cyclist's street" - i.e. here they're allowed to bike next to each other and they have automatic right of way. One resident didn't like that and went to court over that.
The court decided that, yes, this declaration was invalid because the street was too narrow for this and any such declaration needs to pose an actual advantage for cyclists.
The city reacted - but not in the way the resident wanted. Because they went and removed the cause of the street being to narrow: The parking spaces for cars.

@boomzilla That aspect ratio is really stressing me out.

The lede is a little buried with that headline:
A man accused of intentionally driving the wrong way on the 215 beltway told a judge Tuesday that the ghost of a NASCAR driver told him to do it.

I think I met that dude on Monday night when I was returning from class. I'm driving on Parkmoor, heading for the on ramp. I see headlights in my lane and have to swerve.

Senators Demand Answers About Tesla Feature That Runs Stop Signs
Tesla software rolled out to some consumers last fall gave drivers the option of choosing an “assertive” mode in the driver-assist function that sends the vehicle rolling through all-way stop intersections at low speeds if no other cars or pedestrians were present. After questions from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company agreed to disable the feature with an over-the-air recall.

@8:42 - LOL. Except now the guy's blocking the road, dickhead.

"MUST WATCH" why? Looks to me like the title already sums it up.
-
-
@Zecc Well, it does not sum it up completely – the way she does it is particularly stupid. But yeah, clickbait™.
-
@Zecc I'd call it a spoiler except it's a vanilla ass Golf.
-
@Gąska Are you saying a vanilla ass Golf can't be outfitted with a spoiler?

I googled "Golf spoiler" and this is the closest thing to an actual spoiler I could find:
So no, it seems that Golf cannot have a spoiler.

I'd call it a Golf except it's a Polo
-
@loopback0 even if I knew it's a Polo I'd still call it a Golf.

Maybe sideways?

Can't be a polo.
No hole.

UhOh - your new VW may not arrive...
The Felicity Ace, a massive Panama-flagged cargo ship carrying thousands of Volkswagen Group vehicles, caught fire near the Azores islands in the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday afternoon.
An internal email from Volkswagen’s U.S. operations revealed there were 3,965 Volkswagen AG vehicles aboard the ship.

@boomzilla Most people around here have one of these:
One tool for 4 different sizes. Plus the shape really does make changing tires go faster.
-
@acrow I've never before seen a car that didn't come with a usable tire iron. Amazingly, I've had this car for almost exactly 8 years (bought it new from the dealer on January 31st, 2014). Mainly glad I didn't discover this on the side of the road somewhere.
-
@boomzilla My winter tires have different size bolt heads than the summer set.
Besides, the twice-a-year change routine makes the basic emergency tire-iron seem... a little less usable. In some cars it's downright horrible, but even the upper end isn't really great for regular use.
And some new cars come with no spare tyre at all. So presumably they don't have the iron either.
