Much easier to go the other way.
Depends. Most of my regular bills come out in the first few days of the month. If I'd only got half of my normal amount at the end of the previous month that would make it a tricky couple of weeks, followed by two weeks of surplus
I resolved the good two weeks/bad two weeks by paying half of my rent on each paycheck.
And twice a year, I can skip one of those payments.
This way I never really have to think about it.
Another way is to make enough not to live paycheck to paycheck.
Sure is.
I live in NYC in a pretend 3-BR/1-bath and have 4 kids living at home.
We started our marriage at least $50K in the hole due to his divorce (even if you win you lose because of lawyers) and continued custody bullshit because his ex is lazy and entitled (she also got a free lawyer).
I can only change what I can control and a lot of the last 20 years was not in my control (other than leaving which was on the table at some point).
Yeah, I just wanted to make you sad. I hear bars are opening back up.
Meh. It might have 10 years ago.
And on my birthday last month, my husband brought my karaoke friends to us (everyone had their own microphone and no blowing out candles on the cake).
He was costly, but he was worth it.

There's no solution to this I can come up with.
In some cases some lawyers are legit, do a shit ton of work, pay fees, etc, and earn every dollar. But some of these cases drag on for years, and they can work 12-18 hour days.
And sometimes, with all that cost, it's a problem that 99% of everyone would agree on what the solution should be.
Ugh....

@xaade The lawyer arrives at the pearly gates. To his surprise, there's a choir that starts singing on his arrival, the red carpet gets rolled out, and St. Peter personally stands at the gates to greet him. He approaches St. Peter and asks him, "On earth, there is a lot of jokes about lawyers having to enter heaven through the back door, but I am getting quite the opposite reception here. Why is that?" St. Peter replies: "Well, we have had a look at your billable hours, and we have calculated that you must be at least 150 years old."
-
@Vault_Dweller I thought it was going to be the other joke: "we get doctors and preachers every other day, but a lawyer is a rare occasion".

What's this 80s song so famous in U.S. supposed to be then?
Anybody care to enlighten those of us born much later on the other continent?

@acrow See the little Rick Astley face there? Take a guess.

Never gonna give you up never gonna let you down

@Zecc No, I didn't see it. I just thought the hostess had been extra-anonymized beyond the image being too blurry to recognize anybody anyway.

I managed to get a "DoorNotFoundException" put up at the top of a blind stairwell during a remodel one place. Sadly, never got back to check on it, stupid pathfinding.

I find that it's best to put all the warnings right on the label. If I intend to teach advanced programming topics I try to make sure that the subject is already insane, preferably, or, is fairly warned of the harm they are more than likely to incur.

This joke would be more 'Mer'can if you substitute "hitting a pit bull over the head" for "killing a spider", and would explain the phone book better.

@Benjamin-Hall It was a year ago yesterday (?) that we said our last goodbye to our beloved Corgo, who looked a lot like that (but without the oars and sail; also, he disliked water).

A thesaurus was a prehistoric reptile that had a really great vocabulary.

@Mason_Wheeler When I was a mere kidling, I knew phone books mainly as what restaurants used to seat children when they didn't have official booster seats.
I imagine my experience would have been different had I lived in a smaller place than Los Angeles.

@da-Doctah reminds me of this magic trick:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IFm01xgVk0
The guy has a video on his own channel where he explains the trick. He decided to reveal the secret because he's retiring the trick, due to how hard phone books are to come by nowadays and how thin they've become (the trick kinda relies on them being very thick).
-
Apparently the Mormon church doesn't want me to see this trick

@hungrier here's the same thing but worse.
