@HardwareGeek That's not a sample.
These are sample sized!
Edit: that other image is a "Sampling size". (Yes, I can say that based on my own weight)

And since they're samples, they don't contain any calories, so you can eat as many as you want!

That was disappointing. If it was on the cute things thread I would have liked it because then I wouldn't have expected a funny ending.

Now you know how much of the action is really just physics and what's intentional reaction...

@DoctorJones NSIGI
Has he been stung by bees or is the facial expression so special?
-
@JBert Might be allergic to honey. Not all allergies cause swelling in throat.
-
@acrow Food allergies are nothing to sneeze at
-
@Applied-Mediocrity Right, right. You want me to make funny, so as to stay on topic with the thread. OK then.
I was looking through the lubricant selection in the local supermarket yesterday, and noticed that one brand had instructions on the bottle that could be translated to english as "Test small amount on the back of your arm, near elbow, in case of allergic reaction, before you apply anywhere else."
I assume that it's because of the latex in the lube.So I guess there exists a wrong kind of swelling, and it's not limited to foods. Even if it's in the right place for swelling per se.

This is one of those rare instances of having to take my mind into the gutter, because before reading the rest of your post I didn't think it was that kind of lubricant.
-
@Zecc What other kind of lubricant can you possibly buy from a supermarket?

Cyanoacrylate.
-
@topspin Riiiight...
First of all, if I need oil for mechanical lubrication, I'll buy that from a more specialized shop. In addition to actually carrying what I need, they can also give suggestions as to what to use for a particular application. Last time I was there, I was looking for a grease to use on a 3D printer's linear bearings.
Secondly, WD-40 is not a lubricant. It's used to un-stuck machinery, yes. But it should not be used in lieu of actual oil.
-
@acrow as someone with bad allergies, many will swell or itch at the point of contact for topical allergies. Food allergies either cause anaphylaxis and acute swelling or cause gastrointestinal distress (gas, bloating, diarrhea, cramping). Pollen either causes superficial reactions or upper respiratory problems.
Most allergies will cause local swelling if injected into fat or muscle, bad ones will cause anaphylaxis if they get into the blood in sufficient quantity. That's how they test for allergies, by injecting tiny amounts just under the skin and measuring the resulting welts.
So dude likely got stung and had mild reactions. Major reactions would be dead or hospitalized.

@topspin And I can't deny that supermarkets at your side of the world may have a different selection from those on mine.
For all I know, French supermarkets routinely carry a full complement of machine lubricants.
-
@acrow I hope the newline between the statements means those are two separate observations, and that you didn't implicitly accuse @topspin of possibly being French
-
@Applied-Mediocrity He isn't? But with the spin, he looks just like Tintin.
-
@acrow Yeah, I just realized that I'm digging myself deeper. Tintin is B*****n, and that's even worse.
Sorry @topspin .

Secondly, WD-40 is not a lubricant.
Even I know this. I hear even olive oil is better. WD-40 is just a cleaning product.

@acrow said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:

You should tell them to update their website:
"It is invaluable for a huge range of jobs and tasks, including [...] lubrication."
(also, yes, French supermarkets usually have a fairly reasonable DIY/car repair aisle which includes various lubricants, and it probably covers much more shelf space than lubricants that are just a tiny shelf in the "personal hygiene" aisle)

Use WD-40 to clean up the grime first, then apply an actual lubricant.

Not a lubricant.
You can, however, buy engine oil in some supermarkets here.

A coworker of mine had a young son -- 2-3 years old when this happened -- who was in the store with his mom. They went to the electronics section, where they had a bunch of TVs on display, all of them playing the same channel.
Kid apparently thought whatever was on was boring, because he toddled up to one of the TVs and tried to swipe the screen.

This is funny right up until it actually happens to people. I know someone who... well... let's just say she discovered she had a latex allergy in the worst possible way.

Walmart? Target? Most supermarkets around here have at least a small section somewhere with the personal-care products. They even did in SE Idaho 2 decades ago, which is basically northern Utah...except with better drivers.
-
@Benjamin-Hall Huh. Guess I've never been in that section of a Target.

When I worked at Walmart, it was right next to the feminine hygine stuff. So pretty easy to miss unless you're looking for it.
