🗣 Things Our Customers Have Said About Discourse Thread
-
Hmm actually I think that's a new feature. I'm gonna try to abuse it
-
Boo!
Does it work then?
Edit: Kinda? Seems to be cleaned by the normal post sanitizer.
-
-
But it's not doing the same thing? Because it's showing "sloosecannon" and not the thread title...
-
-
Discosistency!
-
Holy shit, I'm too drunk to understand what's going on!!
-
-
Damn. It looks like they are sanitized. Maybe the Discodevs learned their lesson?
-
-
< >
?Noble efforts, however. Good catch.
-
Sure but I'll do that when I'm not mobile ;)
Hope @Tsaukpaetra doesn't mind me assimilating his title :)
-
I did that from mobile.
-
Well yeah but you're (probably) not on 1 bar 3g
-
But I am at one bar with ...
-
XD I see what you did there
-
assimilating his title
Assimilation is fine, we have hooks set to revert the original OS
whenif testing is complete.
-
1. OOC: I used a feature of Discourse and I liked it. *shudder*
-
Oh boy, the mobile CSS fail just got wider...

Discourses, Chapter 3, Verses 7–9.
For it came to pass that the people were not pleased at the bugginess of the software, and did choose from amongst themselves some engineers to petition the Lord Jeff for the fixing of those bugs and the creation of software that didn't suck wombat scrotes. Yet this caused great discomfort among the priesthood of TCoTCDCK, and the Lord Jeff spoke forth “Begone from my temple!” and he smote the petitioners and drove them forth with much wailing into the wilderness and banned them from returning. And the Lord Jeff looked upon the bliss that ruled once more and saw that it was good (except on mobile; that was Different).

PHP is apparently like Discourse: The gift that keeps on misgivings. (Although they actually improved it from what it was before, so I guess it's still marginally better than Discourse.)
-
-
@ZogStriP: People are reporting problems with the avatar service, they're being locked out of CDN nodes because of all the requests it's making.
: it's obviously not Discourse, because in 10 years we won't even need CDN's, we will just serve everything using the moonbeams that shine out of my ass
@ZogStriP: slowly backs away
-
So does that mean that the coloured letter server was, in fact, a terrible idea that nobody sane would even consider, let alone attempt?
-
I wonder if there's some way to make a webpage display a letter with a colored background without having to run a dedicated server for it...

How dare you heathens blaspheme The Church of the Civilized Discourse Construction Kit and its Holy Prophet Jeff!

The colour of lightish blue tinge cools my eye.
Enjoy it while it lasts...

THEY HAVE ROUND AVATARS!

Clearly, they are forward thinkers willing to roll balls.
Can we get an Oculus Rift plugin for Discourse that turns avatars into spheres?
-
-
I think it translates to "letter avatars"... somehow.

more broken than software not written by incompetents
<x>

-
Discourse is written by clowns
-
Discourse.
Where even the bugs have bugs.
This post is not empty; it has a quote.
Edit: Hmm, no necro toaster for cross-topic replies...
-
It's nice to know that the top 3 pages on this site provide 0 content for users to read.
strikes again.

(Also, now that I registered and wrote my first post, I can see why you guys hate this forum software so much. Is there no way to resize the editor?!)
Be empty not can post

To be fair, that turned out to be just me being blind. Now that I've written some more posts I have more severe issues with the system: wonky oneboxing, wonky notifications, and the fact that this thing seems to consume an inordirnate amount of resources.
I have to restart Firefox after spending half an hour here and writing a few (less than 10) posts if I want to stop it from lagging horribly. What the Belgium. I've never seen this happen before.
-

I've never had this problem, but that's probably because I keep opening threads in new tabs and closing older tabs, rather than navigating the forum in a single tab.
-
I keep opening threads in new tabs and closing older tabs
Pretty sure that's an unsupported way of using discourse...
-
Come on, quit misleading the new guy. Discourse is immune to memory leaks because its code is so obfuscated that browsers can't figure out how to leak memory out of it.

If you're feeling helpful, you can post a bug report on ban.d.

That's a new definition of helpful:
help·ful
/ˈhelpfəl/
adjective- Having one's contribution ridiculed and deleted, and one's further participation banned

How do I nominate for the discopedia?
-
GADP is to just make a post, and then edit the Glossawiki.
-
Isn't that a known issue? I saw people mentioning something similar when I was lurking before.
