@dreikin don't tell me you don't have fond nostalgia whenever you hear the dialup connection sound...
I think "quiet dread" is a more appropriate term.
"Quiet" only because you can't hear it over that racket.

No, otherwise I would have said, "Huh, I can pull out, even when I'm not Mobile."

Microsoft Quality 2017 Edition.
This now happens to me multiple times a day:
Severity Code Description Project File Line Suppression State Error Unable to copy file "C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Development\xxx\xxx\packages\Microsoft.Net.Compilers.2.1.0\tools\System.Collections.Immutable.dll" to "bin\roslyn\System.Collections.Immutable.dll". Access to the path 'bin\roslyn\System.Collections.Immutable.dll' is denied.
That used to happen to me all the time when I had two solutions open at the same time that referenced each others' binaries.
Once I established which file was the one causing problems I used to just rename it, usually by changing the extension to something like
.FUCKOFFVS
and then deleting it at some point after the build once it had been released. That was a lot faster than my previous workaround of closing and reopening VS

@dreikin The Android 8.1.0 update also fucking trashed my Bluetooth quality to the point of it being unusable. This is just the gift that keeps on giving.
That's why I caved and finally got an iPhone. At least with regards to Bluetooth it's the difference between night and day.
Android 7 worked only so-so, 7.1 was worse, 8.0 worked so-so and 8.1 completely annihilated BT for my Pixel.

Whenever I find out who thought it was a good idea to remove the patch cables for the network lab from the central patch panel, said person will get to know Mr. very well. Because, you know, not having any wired network in the network lab is kinda blocking doing work in the network lab.
Also, I got to have this exchange to get into the server room.
: I need the key to the server room to check up on the network.
Coworker: Our key for the server room has been claimed by [caretaker] who is keeping it for himself.
(Note: The caretaker doesn't work on fridays.)
Other coworker: [Administrator] also has a key, but she's working from home today. Although I saw [boss] in the break room, go talk to him. Also got an angry rant from coworker about the fact that our shared key for the server room has been appropriated by the caretaker for his personal use, as it is supposed to be for everyone in our office. (I share office with 3 others, and all 4 of us are to have access to the server room, hence the shared key.) Other coworker also added to the angry rant saying that if there was no key present in the building, [caretaker] would be forced to come in (on his day off) to let me in.

status: the average rate of detected memory errors has increased above the Warning Level threshold.
Case in point: I think I washed my hair three times this morning (maybe more). A nominally 12 minute shower procedure unexpectedly took 41 minutes.
Additionally, stretch marks coverage and depth has noticably increased since the last Medium standard dermis scan.
Hmmm, you will nice today. What's for breakfast? Do we still have any eggs? There should be sausage still in the freezer. Okay, maybe one leaf of lettuce, but I'm using the real butter on my toast.

I might still have one in my closet... Tho it might be a 28.8. Definitely not a 56 - I returned that because my phone lines were so shitty I was lucky to get 26.

My second modem varied between around 36k and a full 52k; I never knew what I'd be getting even if I disconnected and reconnected 30 seconds later (and thus I knew it wasn't the local phone line; that would have been a bit more consistent).
I was ever so glad to switch to cable. :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_closed_eyes:

There actually isn't a proper competitor in this case. There are some imitators but they kind of fall short.

Status: Currently pondering which way to go - I want to implement some kind of free-drawing for my pupils to use.
The choices are thus:a) FabricJS - browser-based, does pretty much everything I want, has free-drawing, the ability to select paths, shapes and exports to SVG, JSON and PNG/JPG. Drawback: Severe performance problems on some browsers, becomes slow after 30+ free-drawn paths on the others. Also, the documentation just plain sucks.
b) PaperJS - browser-based, can do most of what I want, just that I have to implement some stuff myself (like selecting multiple objects). Exports to SVG and JSON. Plus: Has inbuilt functionality for boolean operations on paths, plus smoothening and simplifying paths. Seems to be more performant as well. Documentation is clear and concise. Drawback: While it has the ability to display text, it has no interactive tool for entering text.
c) Windows.UI.Inking - would mean an UWP app (with either a WebView or XAML). Most performant of the three, has NO problems with thousands of paths, drawing also looks best. Drawback: Would have to implement some needed stuff myself, again. Documentation: Well, it's MS.

Before my S7, I had an S4mini. Updates for that stopped with v4.something. I should try and remember when I got this one... probably 12-18 mos. Which seems to be about how long they support a device.

What the hell??!??!?!
OMG, I got a callback! I'm floored! And not because I'm inexplicably tired.
So, apparently because my 1040-whatever doesn't mention Student Loans, but the Healthcare.gov website asks about them, the numbers don't match (to the tune of basically 40% margin). So, since they don't really match, that was the discrepancy.
So now I'm going to send in all the docs about my loans. Whoopee. Maybe that will make all the lights turn green now?

Status: Finally got around to going down to the math department to get my calc prerequisites sorted out.
Story: If I want to get into CS or SE within a reasonable time frame, I need to start calc this semester. So I sign up for math 30 (calc 1). Computer says prerequisites not met. One of the options for said prerequisite is a calculus AB AP score of 3/5 or higher, and I got a 5, so that's definitely met. I email my counselor. A few days later, she emails me back, telling me I need to add math 30W at the same time. I'm like thank you, I'm not an idiot, I'm already doing that. A few days later she tells me that I can't take that class since the score already gives me credit for the class and I need to take math 31 instead. why is it an available option if it, by existing, invalidated it?
Anyway, I add math 31 and 31W. Same message. Goddammit. I message my counselor; a few days later she tells me that I need to add math 31W at the same time, seemingly forgetting that I'm not an idiot. I remind her I'm not an idiot, she responds after a few days saying that she can't help and I need to go down to the math department office. You may be building up some sort of an idea of her work ethic (hint: it's lower than the networking team's).
Thanksgiving rolls around because someone whose job it is to answer emails all day CBA to respond to my emails, and I promptly forget about the whole thing. Today, I finally go down to the office. I wrangle the details with the receptionist, who asks me for my AP score. When logging into the College Board website, and checking it, I'm greeted with the first time access disclaimer, and I realize I never actually sent the scores. At the time, I figured that I wouldn't need to, and it wasn't worth the price they were charging for score reporting ($100 I think). Turns out I'm right, because I just show her the screen, and she adds not only the prereq, but the credits as well. The whole thing is resolved in a matter of minutes. If my counselor had responded to her fucking email, I could have even got the time slot I wanted. Grr.
Anyway, I finally have my schedule set up how it needs to be. Time to figure out what extraneous GE I'm taking this semester.

Status: got sick. I'm tired all day, don't eat anything but chocolate, and have strangest thoughts. Like, for example, since the suffix "-ess" is used to create feminine versions of masculine base words, every time you write down "address" as "addr", you're reinforcing patriarchy.
