Supposedly it's some kind of disease indicator. I think they're just trying to spread the disease.
It's measuring the pressure in the eye, and the disease is glaucoma.
Usually it's just measuring my propensity to blink faster than their machine can take a measurement when a giant gust of wind hits my eye.

Status: bought amusement park tickets 6 weeks ago for <1/2 price, expecting to get a full day's worth of amusement. Actually getting <1/2 a day's worth of amusement.
Not because of the tickets. Because my dad called and invited us to a birthday supper for my brother's birthday, which they apparently had to have tonight, and I couldn't say "actually we already bought tickets to the amusement park" because, hey, it's his birthday, and my dad would be like "and you have to spend the whole day there?", and because one of my wife's friends called last week and asked if she could give them a ride to the airport at 5 AM, and she couldn't exactly say no to that either. So she's sleeping all morning to compensate for the interruption in her sleep cycle, and we're going to get to the park in time for lunch.
At least the tickets included lunch. Actually, the lunch is almost worth the price of the tickets, so I can't complain too much, but ugh. Plans. Stupid plans. And I hate making plans and then having to change them. And what was originally a really good deal on the tickets is turning into something that I'd have just assumed skip.

I could have driven to california and back by now...
Sap probably didn't package it right and so it's probably sitting in some staging area while they recover the label for that falling-apart box.

You're expected to get that yourself at the condiments station, nube! ;)

They don't bother because it's not real syrup anyway

Might have to wipe one of my laptops; hope there wasn't anything important on there. Keep your BitLocker keys in a safe place, guys. None of the ones I have match this drive's identifier for some reason.

Just take things slow and easy, and if they get a little too eager it's OK to freeze up for a few seconds!

"What do you have going on this weekend?"
. "I am going to trench in some conduit in the backyard to power some lights and run some speaker wires."
"I can drop off my mini-excavator if you want. Should know that right out."
"Nah. I appreciate it, but it is only 60' and I need the exercise."Status for tonight:
Goddamn it, I am old and I feel like a cripple from trenching in that conduit. I am getting soft.
Scratch that....I am soft.

@anotherusername so it was fun enough... and I did get to ride pretty much all the rides that I wanted to. It was mainly just the whole made-plans, had-to-change-all-the-plans part that was frustrating...

We already have Kickstarter and Indiegogo.

@tsaukpaetra yes but they have the problem that, for the most part, people believe they're real. This is essentially a proposition for the troll/comedy version of the same.

Status: The kiddo and I decided to camp out in the backyard tonight. We had a fire and cooked sausages and hot dogs and baked beans. We had Smores for dessert. Now we are watching "Boss Baby" on a laptop with a Bluetooth speaker for good sound in the tent...because why not? We have power. Might as well.
@boomzilla is likely mortified at this level of glamping.
I'm not usually envious of people with kids but that's awesome.
A good friend of mine has a boy and a girl (8 and 6) and the boy was always a little bit rude/stand-off to me which I found a little awkward to handle. I needed to baby-sit alone on a visit once and noticed he was dead-set on showing me all his toys and getting me to play while being really sweet. So it's really playing up for his father I guess. Psychology for children is complex!

Tried Bulletproof coffee on the advice of a family member. That's, uh... huh. It's certainly filling; might need some Stevia drops or something to distract from the texture, though, which is somewhat nauseating.

I try to save those favors for when I really need them. Also, I really do need the exercise and since the conduit needed to go right along a fence there would have been a chance that using the excavator would have meant some fence repair when I forgot what I was doing and swing too far.
Mostly it was exercise. I am pushing 40 now. I am really trying to not turn in to a flabby old man.

Status: contemplating the word "reincarnation". So many words are borrowed from asia and asian mysticism, but not this one.
I mean... you can sit on your verandah in front of your bungalow in the djungle and share a cup of chai with your yoga-guru and have a pow-wow about your chi and your chakras, but when it comes to this particular core concept, you are forced to switch to latin.
... probably because "refleshment" sounds too much like a racial slur.
-
@mikael_svahnberg Could be historic? Reincarnation has been a known concept in Europe since back when Latin was a modern language.
In Dutch we use 'wederopstanding', which translates as 're-arising'
EDIT: Though thinking on it further - I think that's specifically the Christian concept of reincarnation. Particularly for the Hindu concept I do think 'reincarnatie' is used.

Status: The new schoolyear has not even begun (that's on thursday) and I've already received an invitation for a disciplinary conference the following monday.
Seems that three pupils (one of them in my Physics course) have been falsifying doctors' certificates. Additionally, one of them (not the one in my course, though) is suspected of dealing drugs on or near the school grounds.
Way to start the year...

Okay, they opted for "We'll try to replace but if we're out of stock, you'll get a refund."
Considering that I didn't get the message about the "out of stock" caveat the last three times, I consider the refund option to be very likely.

Update
I got a new prescription (almost the same as my old one from 10+ years ago, apparently) and have ordered new glasses, but I think their estimated ship date is just today + 2 weeks whenever I check it. Yesterday it said September 10th, and today I checked again and it says the 11th, with the order status last updated yesterday morning.

Status: Got in Monday morning to find that our team in another timezone has been stuck with the main development environment down because of what someone on this team checked in on Friday. Instead of fixing it and continuing to work, they sent us an email, asking if anyone here would be willing to revert the change. I was tempted to leave it, since they don't seem to care enough to revert broken changes they approved themselves.
