There's a reason they can't do it: You're not there putting out the fires.

Fuck...
I think the time has come to move past it. And after poking around a bit I think Discourse is the only viable option: https://discourse.tt-rss.org/17
Didn't see that one coming. Didn't even get a warning that he was planning on moving. S'pose I'll simply have to put up with it.
Already had one PM following up that comment...

@RaceProUK assuming you get in. They overbook TV shows to make sure the studio is full, so make sure you get in line early.
I went to a recording of Take Me Out last year. We got there several hours in advance and were literally the last people allowed in. We were in the studio listening to people saying "they've sent too many. Are there any more chairs left?"
I still got a hug from Paddy McGuinness though

@Jaloopa I have a Priority ticket :D

@RaceProUK That's the other way to do it...

Status: letting Visual Studio apply web.config transforms appears to break things in "fun" ways.
A string containing
<
and>
signs confuses the parser, so the password that's out of my control already means I can't use the transform way of doing things, and the letteré
gets transformed toé
I guess I'm going to have to make the config changes manually

Yay editors that mangle UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1.

Status: The conversations I have with some clients are just mind-numbingly retarded.
"We were having issues with our internet this morning and I called Comcast about it. They fixed the issue, but they said we do not have wifi."
"But you have wifi, so don't listen to them. They are trying to upsell you."
"But...Comcast said we didn't."
"You have wifi. We installed it."
"But Comcast..."
"You have wifi. Don't listen to Comcast."
I need coffee before conversations like that.

Obviously, you need to up your wage demands because ^^^

If they can get Comcast to do anything at all that dangerous, heads would roll!
Then again, they'd likely to that for the whiny brat wanting to "fix" "NAT Type 2".

You told me, and I still don't know it is.
-
@Polygeekery Magic the Gathering is a collectible card game where two magical entities duel each other by playing cards to summon creatures.
The game is played in rounds, each of which has distinct phases and this is a hardware indicator of which phase the current round is in by moving it along the slide.

So, this thing replaces a notepad and a pen. Got it
-
@TimeBandit Not even that, for the most part people don't even really need phase counters because you'll say what you're doing as you're doing it or it'll be obvious (e.g. untap phase or draw phase, because you're physically clearly doing certain things)
Fuck, even at local tournament level it wouldn't be necessary. But it is very shiny and even though it's been some years since I did MTG - nearly a decade now - part of me still wants one.
-
TIL javascript will not be a laughing stock language any more!
-
@cartman82 TYL that there is a proposal to fix this, but it will still be a laughing stock for many more months to come while everyone actually adopts it, needing polyfills all the while.

Don't worry, I never played MTG and most probably never will, but I would still want one

Yeah, usually those first 3 are done in a matter of like 5 seconds, if that. Maybe more if triggered abilities are a thing...
Still it's pretty sweet

Status: I've been working lately on being an expert on testing various things in our untestable system.
I don't want to end up getting called QA, because they'll probably try to start paying me less, even if I end up being some sort of 'automation architect' for coming up with a simple way to test things instead of using a specflow monstrosity, and certainly on my resume, someone might see it as me moving backward.
But honestly, right now, this is the least insane part of the project :/

Windows suddenly doesn't see any Store apps, including the Store itself.
Not sure if good or bad thing.
-
Oh, FFS, Windows Authentication...
Apparently sqlcmd doesn't do Windows Authentication if your CNAME points to another CNAME that points to the server's FQDN (it only resolves one CNAME and if the SPN doesn't match what that first CNAME resolves to, you're SOL).

Probably for chemical weapons and other hazardous materials?
-
@Tsaukpaetra
There's sort of a technical reason for doing it (prod is a cluster, dev isn't, so the "extra" CNAME makes dev look like a cluster like prod does), but yeah. Loads of fun.
