@accalia I quote like that fox art thing whatever it is supposed to be. I might make it into a minimalist wallpaper.

There was a game on the PS1 where you could take over the old colonies and restore the empire.
This was before UKIP ... the game apparently was total shite.

From what I remember reading about it, all you need is to format the harddrive in a special way and put the appropriate MS verification files on it for the 360 to believe it's running an official harddrive.
Yes, but that's only if you want to use it as local storage. To use it for backwards compat, you ALSO need to add ANOTHER partition, and dump some files on it.
-
@Lorne-Kates I started reading it as a reply to @Tsaukpaetra post above, and it was weird

Nah, made sense to me in context!
After all, isn't filling with zeroes the same thing as erasing?

After waiting for Excel to spend 10 minutes "Calculating" - I made the mistake of adding a blank row at the top and now it's recalculating everything again.

For spreadsheets like that, sometimes it helps to turn the calculation setting to manual until you want it to start recalculating everything...
I have one spreadsheet that imports 9 or 10 CSV files. Naturally, Excel has to re-calculate the whole damn workbook each time one of the CSV files is updated, and they all need to be updated when it's opened, so it spends like 10 minutes recalculating everything over and over. I tried turning the calculation setting to manual before I opened it... it re-imported all the CSV files and whoa, it took only a few seconds. Of course, then all the formulas needed to be updated... I turned calculation setting back to auto, and it recalculated the whole spreadsheet once, which was a hell of a lot faster than doing it 10 times...

You know what I should do? I should buy a giant floodlight, the kind they use in movies or football stadiums, that blinds you for 5 minutes when you look at it. Make sure it emits a proper spectrum similar to sunlight. And just put it in my room, pointing at the ceiling, on a fixed timer. Make it brighter than the outside.
That would keep my sleep cycle in check.
-
@anonymous234 If it has to be brighter than the outside, what's wrong with just using the natural sunlight from the outside?

I think you missed the be brighter than bit
-
@hungrier My window faces north, so there's not much light sadly. Plus the sun sets too early.
And I can't automate the window shutters to open and close at certain times without a major investment. Otherwise I'd have them set to open 10 minutes before wake up time.
-
@anonymous234 OIC
I've got a southeast facing window, and even with my blinds closed my room lights up bright as anything. I need to wear a sleep mask if I ever want to sleep in.

I know that feel, I spent a long time getting my window blinds to actually blind so I could sleep at all without a mask. Fucking office building in front leaves a giant light pointing at my window all night!
Protip: use some foil tape, it's actually opaque unlike all other tapes.

Sun is up by maybe 7am I think. Doesn't seem to wake me up any better...
No, not even the naked kid getting dressed every morning at 8am helps with that.

I have blackout curtains, these do a pretty good job of keeping light out.

Try an SAD lamp and a timer switch. They're specifically designed to mimic the spectrum of sunlight
