Status: Someone on another team managed to check code into master that doesn't compile locally.
This code involves renaming
web.config
toweb.template.config
and giving the new one all the child configs, and then telling the.wpp.targets
file to merge them and use the result as the real web.config.WHY!?
-
@Magus Sounds like someone saw what VS does in Web Application projects with
web.Debug.config
andweb.Release.config
, and put on the complicator gloves.
-
@RaceProUK Exactly!

Slow Cheetah? We've just started using that for a WebJob, and it's proving quite handy.
-
@RaceProUK Yeah. Although it was allegedly discontinued awhile back.

Status: Got a new phone plan. Cheaper than my old one, with way more data and unlimited music streaming (using a fixed list of apps, some of which I already use). Full LTE coverage everywhere I've been so far, although it took its sweet time enabling data the first time I tried the in-store test simcard.
-
@Weng The thing it does is really simple, so someone could easily replace it if they cared enough. I implemented it manually once.

Had a bout of that last year. Awful. :( Get well soon.

The “super reliable” websockets stuff has shit the bed for you. Seen it a few times too (usually when there's a network glitch). No idea what state it is in beyond “broken” but the only fix I know is a true page reload.
-
@dkf I got the first stirrings of this Saturday night sometime. I blame my daughter. As I've said elsewhere, I swear that child is a better infection transmission vector than some actual bioweapons sometimes. Then Sunday night I got basically no sleep because of it, so yesterday I went into the office all loopy and still coughing like mad.
Thankfully I got SOME sleep last night (thanks to waking up at 3 AM and deciding to take some more DayQuil before going back to bed), but today's just wearing me out.
-
@dkf Yes, refresh fixed it.

Children have weaker immune systems and poorer personal hygiene (not in a bad way obviously), so it's no surprise

I know SignalR monitors and tries to reconnect if the link goes; I thought socket.io did the same.

It tries, but it doesn't always succeed. No idea why; investigating would require me to read javascript. :donotwant.meme:

Status: Day 4 of Perfect Cherry Blossom, and I now know I can reach Stage 4 without too much trouble… only to die horribly before I even see the Prismriver Sisters
Also still on Easy mode. Then again, it's only been four days.
-
@RaceProUK I must once more recommend playing the first level on lunatic several times, just for the 'well, it could be worse' factor to kick in while you're playing easy. Still even then, some of those patterns are crazy.
-
@Magus I've been advised the jump from Easy to Lunatic is a bit severe, and that Easy to Normal would be better
-
@RaceProUK But having it be as horrible as possible is the whole point!

I am writing a networked Linux file system as university project. As part of the report, I have to write a section titled "Social and environmental impacts of the project".
I am soooooo tempted to just paste this picture since I think it sums them up perfectly:
-
Status: The other team we work with has created a website that no one at my site can figure out how to run. With like 300 deprecated npm packages, and soon-to-be-deprecated dependencies, and like 10 errors.
So I thought, "Why not try this codewars thing. After all, this puzzle it just gave me doesn't seem too bad. Hmm, I wonder why it won't give me the complete button, I passed the tests... *refreshes* Oh I see, a 500. AMAZOOOOON!"

Better status: Steam just emailed me to tell me that Battle Mahjong is slightly on sale, but I'm still not sure if I want it.

And it's a SSD!
If it's windows you should be happy it didn't complain some mysterious program had your file open and you can't move it.

We must be sharing via sympathetic response, I wasn't coughing but the timeline is too coincidental...

Filling it in with “None” would be adequate. If you were in other fields (e.g., bioscience, chemistry) then you'd have to do something real there.

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/venturi-world-s-first-always-adjusted-belt-design-fashion#/In my experience, if you are not spending at least that much, the belt will be of pretty poor quality. You can actually spend quite a bit more.
Cheap belts don't last.
These people are outside in a public park adjusting their belts. I sense a lot of new entries to the sex offenders registry.

If it takes 10 seconds to copy a small file between two folders, then you can probably calculate the energy consumption of your filesystem. Don't forget to include the network routers.
Societal: If you were to release this filesystem to a larger audience you would create a certain degree of Decision Making Anxiety when people have to select which filesystem to use.
Happy to help :-)

I wrote that mechanism in a .csproj file by hand once, but we ditched it in favor of SetParameters.xml. Which are a bit of a mess to integrate with VSTS anyway (you need to attach them next to the zip with an application, for instance).

-
Status: A little hungry.
-
@RaceProUK Well they're getting "relationship education" from 4 - so stuff like "no-one else should touch your private parts". It says they'll be taught about sex "at an appropriate age", implying that that will be somewhat later.
-
@CarrieVS Who's defining the "appropriate" age?
Also it's Discompulsory as parents can withdraw their children from it.

I'm just saying it appears not to be age four.
Also it's Discompulsory as parents can withdraw their children from it.
Compulsory for schools to offer it.
