@ChaosTheEternal I'm not sure, I think that's just a d100. I always thought d% is a specific formula for combining the results of two d10 rolls (not to be confused with 2d10 which is also a formula for combining the results).
-
@CarrieVS
d101 * 10 + d102, ooh, such formula, much wow

I've seen a real, proper, cut D100 exactly once.
-
@CarrieVS d% is just shorthand for d100, which can be handled as a result from 2 d10 rolls.
-
@izzion I never said it was a very interesting forumla. Although actually it's slightly more complicated because two 0s are 100. (Assuming your d10s are 0-9. I guess if you have d10s that are marked 1-10 you can reduce anything strictly over 100 modulo 100.)

Status: Xenoverse 2 was on sale this past weekend, and I still couldn't convince anyone :(

not exactly true.
let me fix that for you

2two distinguishable d10 rolls.in order to work you must decide which die represents the 10s and which represents the 1's, and in order to do that you must be able to distinguish the dice from each other.
okay, with the dice sets out there that's generally not hard, what with the dice usually being printed with
10,20,30...
when intended to be used as the 10s die, or simply being different colours so you can confirm ahead of time which is which. but it's still an important technicality that bears mentioning.

A friend of mine has a... D120 or something. Apparently it's the largest die size you can get without making it outrageously huge.

Historically, dice is the plural of die, but in modern standard English, dice is both the singular and the plural: throw the dice could mean a reference to two or more dice, or to just one. In fact, the singular die (rather than dice) is increasingly uncommon

I found the wiki article - just read the first sentence that I posted.
[reading...]
"one of the great marketing bombs of postwar British industry"
"notorious ... example of failure".Enthusiasts have established owners' clubs and some have modified their vehicles substantially, adding monster wheels, jet engines, and high-powered electric motors to propel their C5s at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour
Hmm - 10x faster than the original's top speed. Yeah, don't think so... I may be crazy, but I ain't stoopid!

I figured that's the one that got 150mph. So, yes, insanity is required. Of course I'd watch it. (Hmm, add some stubby wings and ... oh wait, this isn't the Bad Ideas Thread...)

That die has 4 faces. The side facing the camera is labeled "4" (as shown by the number on face 2, which is the side that's just barely visible but pointing mostly away from the camera). The side on the bottom, which is the number it's currently resting on, is 3, but to prevent you from needing to pick up the die to check that face to read its number, it's printed along each edge of the face instead.

That's not a die at all. It's a variation of "coin", which is something different. :P

Just finished rewiring my network.
The only reason my network requires more than a single power plug is, sadly, the UniFi Security Gateway 3P is not capable of being powered via PoE, which it totally could be given the wall wart that powers it is 12V/1A (12W), which is the same rated wattage as those Unifi Switch 8s that are PoE powered.
Though I am tempted to splurge on this little device to fix that "issue"
i am 900% happier with my network now that i actually paid for proper network gear.
though i do need to rearrange my computers. CoreSwitch is at capacity, i need to move... probably AptimusPrimal, Hanako, KOS-MOS, and Qube to DeskSwitch, which currently only has Yami, and GuestOne plugged into it when i dock it.... or i could move AptimusPrime and KOS-MOS to DeskSwitch and set up Hanako and Qube next to the futon where TVSwitch is located.....
Or i could update CoreSwitch to an US-16-150 or US-24-250. I mean i'll need to update my core switch eventually..... No, I should wait. I'll update CoreSwitch when i upgrade my servers and need a core switch that handles 10Gbit Ethernet, then my satellite switches can be 1Gbit as they're mostly consumers that can't saturate 1Gbit as it is.... unless 16K video becomes a thing sooner than i expect (never, at least for consumer.... 8K's basically retina resolution on a "standard" television at normal viewing distances, right?)
But I kinda want to upgrade anyway..... But i don't need it and I've had CoreSwitch less than 6 months (because i estimated how much i'd have plugged into it incorrectly)
Decisions.... decisions.....

I just don't want to see that vixen with sub optimal networking equipment that only has a 6 month expected life span before it shits itself and heads off to the retirement home for switches with dementia

really? well looks like there'll be a massive internet outage at the office real soon. So glad i'm not in infrastructure.
don't suppose you have a better brand for me to recommend to those guys when they discover their core switches have been offline for the last year?

Well, ok, like most WTDWTF "advice", there's a heavy dose of snark and there...I will say that UBNT has had a pretty poor reputation in the WISP circles, though the realities there are a little different compared to core infrastructure in an office (very few offices have major network equipment 190+ feet in the air, outdoors, co-located with a grain elevator). It's always been in that spot though of "everyone complains about it because it's so shoddy, but it's cheap enough relative to the alternatives that you throw it up and hold your nose." I prefer Netgear (or Cisco, but bleh) for standard office equipment in terms of reliability.
Overall, I prefer MikroTik for cost/performance, but they're still not really there when it comes to reliable configuration without months of learning curve or a HPC on call, so I can't really recommend them for ye olde random corporate IT. Makes MT really not that different than Cisco, other than the order of magnitude price difference (at the cost of some stacking and power redundancy options)...

Do it!

Shaking my head at how a small change to a .cpp file means almost 200 files needing to be recompiled.
I'd say your dependencies are messed up. Either that or something else changed too. Or you're including that cpp into others (cringe).

No, it ended up being a stupidity of Unreal Engine. Since I can't reliably recompile the game without cooking stuff (or something), I switched to the Editor mode, which was about five commits behind the server version, and one of those commits was a header file.

i did. and ordered two SFP to GigE transceivers do i can use those two SFP ports on CoreSwitch too. that turns CoreSwitch into a 10 port switch.... though 3 (4 now, but i'm moving AptimusPrime to DeskSwitch tomorrow) of those ports are dedicated to network infrastructure.... still who needs 7 PCs plugged in at the same time?
..... oh.... i do. thats the whole reason i got DeskSwitch and TVSwitch......
nevermind.........

@anotherusername You mean, like a dice ?
No, that's when you chop something (typically some type of food) into approximately cube-shaped pieces.
If I chop food into exactly one cube shaped piece, is that called die-ing it?

One for every tail?
Tail 8 just watches TV and 9 is just plain lazy.

£30 isn't really that much for a belt.

It is when you can get belts just as good for £4:
They have more colours too.

Patch SQL Server 2000 to SP4

@RaceProUK Depends on your definition of "just as good".

But is the excess length tucked in behind the belt instead of in front?
That's basically their selling point, even though it means that you have to pretty much take the belt off to adjust it instead of just adjusting to the correct length as you fasten it.

This is my list of requirements for a belt:
- Holds my trousers up
- Holds my trousers up
- Is a funky colour
By those criteria, those £4 belts are better than the £30 belt :P

No, but that's what belt loops are for
