Try getting in bed, turning off the lights and all screen devices, then trying as hard as you possibly can to keep your eyes open.

edit and it isn't just that one paragraph, every mention of JSON is Jason throughout the entire document.
Hahaha!
I sometimes switch it the other way around, and a guy called Jason becomes JSON in emails...

God DAMN, YouTube ads are ANNOYING.
I had forgotten how bad they were, with their stupid music and all.I browsed on my ipad last night and was startled to see ads all over the place.
Once you've lived the adblock nobleman's lifestyle, you can't go back to being a filthy ad-watching peasant.

Commas are fine, %20-whatever-it's-called-encoding is fine, pretty much everything else is fine. Except Period (.) and slash. Because they might be part of a file name so obviously don't route that.
That's super annoying.
I like to do url-s like
/report/timeline
for the json response and/report/timeline.csv
for csv download (or zip, xlsx, whatever). I guess that wouldn't fly with ASP...
-
@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:
and renaming the input parameter realid instead of id in the controller function. Fuck.
Because now, since it's not in the route template, the MVC template thing makes it a proper URL parameter (i.e. ?realid=blah@40domain.com) which works as you'd expect. Because it's after the ? and therefore couldn't possibly be a file anymore.Ugh, that's a terrible solution. Surely there's got to be a better way...

@Maciejasjmj said in The Official Status Thread:
There are legitimate cases for overriding the default static handler (and the static handler is there for a good reason - you can't "get back" to the pipeline once you determine you have no matching controller*, so your {controller}/{action}/{id} route would catch all requests for static assets and shove 404s out), but this is not one.
Wait, so static file handler just intercepts anything with
.
, presumes it's a file and barfs when it doesn't find anything? That's some bullshit, man. In node, it just returns into the pipeline and lets some other handler take it, if they can. The 404 is thrown at the end of the chain, once no one handles the request. Makes much more sense to me.

@cartman82 I have a route serving
/robots.txt
, so it's definitely possible, though really, the file type you get should be selected by theAccept
header if you're doing it properly.

Giving them what they ask for leads to this:
Please create tblWidgets.
OK done.
(A couple of months pass.)
The table name shouldn't have been plural. Please change it to tblWidget.
CREATE SYNONYM tblWidget FOR tblWidgets
or:
CREATE VIEW tblWidget WITH DATABINDING AS SELECT * FROM tblWidgets

How would you embed accept header into an url towards a csv download?

Either rename the table and refactor all code to use the new name, or leave it as it is.

As part of the request header, obviously.

Really? You can make URLs with headers now?
Please do demonstrate.

Sounds more like you don't understand the difference between URL and request.
-
@cartman82 I understand perfectly, which is why I'm wondering why you're conflating the two.
-
How would you embed accept header into an url towards a csv download?
I guess I should have said "link" here...
-
-
@cartman82 Ah, that makes more sense.
In that case, if you're just doing a direct bog-standard
<a>
link, then AFAIK, there's no way to tell the browser to use a differentAccept
header. If, however, you're doing an AJAX thing (or you're going via the website's back-end as a proxy sort of thing), then you can add all the headers you like in the normal manner.

@accalia No, they were unrelated. I actually get on with all my extended family (except for one cousin of my father's in Australia, and if she stays on the far side of the world I'm OK With That). The headache is likely related to the particular cold virus from which I seem to be suffering.

if his plates were caught on one of the cameras police vehicles tend to have these days he's probably getting the ticket and/or court summons anyway. Just cause they didn't stop him then doesn't mean he got awau scotch free
