Language is weird.

@boomzilla Could be worse: in Scots, it's a winterdyke.

Just remember, no matter how shit your day is today, you have not been fired from your job and arrested for accidentally showing your genitals to a choir class.

Status: I added a horrible to our codebase, and I don't know how to get it out. Things need ID numbers scoped to the message we're making, but they don't need those numbers until they're serialized. Some things have to get them when they're constructed, though, because some things use them as part of a filename etc.
So they get them from a horrible static object cache thing. I have to somehow kill it...

@accalia I simplified that. My socks are all the same. Well, except the ground-in-dirt-that-never-comes-out part...

Something that is very easy to achieve when you tuck them together before putting them in the pile.

Yes, it's a thing I seldom get around to doing. Partly because I seldom get around to doing laundry, period.

I personally have a clothes cache size good enough to fulfill 13 days of clothes-wearing. Things get interesting on the 14th day.

ogg-container-format
It almost works. I apparently didn't do very well with the buffer conversion The library expects PCM data and I probably didn't bodge it out well enough: I already have my opus packet data.
At least when I shouted into the microphone for about 30 seconds I got a solid 110ms of data out in a mostly kinda working file!

Now to fill in the necessary images (on the actual production site), and write up a nice little PHP backend to accept the vote (or display the error code if it failed)!
Question: Should I use the time-tested postback methodology or go crazy and port in some jQuery Ajaxy goodness?

statusbolded text****
earlier today.
Popped out with wife & kid to do a quick grocery run. Decided to do drive-thru coffee first, since it's on the way.
Start car, leave driveway-- feels like something goes CLUNK. Must have just been the cold weather.
Drive along sideroad, car feels a bit sluggish, but nothing weird.
Get on main road, car starts to go clump clump clump clump... uh-oh.
Uhh, maybe one of the wheels is going flat. Sounds like it. Let's do the drive-thru since we're already here, and we'll pop back home and use the airpump.
Pull into drive-thru, place order, start to leave.
Why not just park now and check to make sure there isn't a puncture or anything?
Ok.
Go through the motions of parking-- roll into spot, gear into park, headlights off, reach for parking brake--
which is already engaged.
Oh.
Release parking brake, go on with day...

I remember doing that in my car once. It was raining fairly hard and I didn't notice the e-brake was still partially engaged. For some reason either the "You're still in park" light didn't exist, didn't turn on, or I wasn't paying attention. All sorts of weird stuff happened, but nothing permanently damaging. Thought I was losing my mind wondering why the poor thing couldn't accelerate hardly at all..

STATUS annoyed and in over my head.
I have three webpages that are just slightly different but most of their functionality needs to be kept in sync. I cannot think of a good to do this. Java I can see how I can do it but in the javascript.... I'm obviously an idiot and there isn't time for me to sit down and research it. At the moment I'm using branches but I sense this won't work well in th long run.

A few of the other sources reporting that story very strongly suggested that it wasn't accidental at all. Like, "hey, I'm not wearing underwear. *cartwheels*".

The only reason she got into trouble for it was because one of the students had time to pull out a phone and record it on video. That made it kinda hard to downplay or claim it didn't happen...

Status: House move is mostly done, apart from selling some of the shit we've left behind and taking some more shit we want to keep.
On Thursday, we collected the keys and started moving some smaller things by car. Mostly my car as it doesn't have a baby seat in it and so can have the seats down.
On Thursday evening, I broke down just off the motorway, a few miles from the new house with a car full of stuff. While waiting for recovery, I got picked up by my wife and screaming, tired baby, unloaded most of my car into hers, took them back to the new house, came back to get the rest of the stuff into the working car and await the recovery van. I also chain smoked quite a few cigarettes. The car was recovered to our new house, where we don't have a parking permit yet so I had to introduce myself to neighbours and ask for a visitors permit.
On Friday morning I picked up the rental van, loaded it with stuff for the tip and drove over there. The tip was closed, and would have charged me anyway as I was dropping off from a van rather than a car. I came home and threw all of the shit in the garage to worry about later, then started filling the van with stuff to actually take, with my FIL's help. The only real cockup this day was discovering that the sofa was no way getting through the door to the room we'd decided to use for a living room, so things had to be rethought on the fly. My mother was also visiting (planned long before we knew we were moving), so I picked her up from the train station that's nice and convenient from the old house but less so from the new one. My mother is helpful when she decides to stop drinking tea and talking non-stop, and to actually do something. Sometimes getting her to that point is more effort than just doing it yourself though, but she did help me move some things that I couldn't manage alone and my wife couldn't help with due to looking after the baby.
On Saturday, it was my daughter's first birthday and we took a break from moving furniture around to go to a photo studio and do a cake smash session. We then went back to start making the new house ready to host a housewarming/birthday party the next day, and bought all the food for it. My wife couldn't sleep so was up from 3:30 am making underwater themed food for the party.
On Sunday we got the house more in order and hosted a party. Afterwards, my wife was shattered and went to bed as soon as she put the birthday girl down, leaving me and my mum to look through the day's photos.
Monday brought a trip to buy white goods since they're not included with the house. Tuesday was super romantic; we went back to the old house and started cleaning it top to bottom. Daughter was tired and grouchy, so it was a full time job for one person to keep her occupied while the others emptied rooms and cleaned. We then dropped my mum off to go home and finally got to explore our new village a bit.
Conclusion: Having relatives visit, fine. Toddlers' birthday parties, fine. Moving house, stressful but not too bad. Car breakdowns, annoying but manageable. Combining them all over a weekend, what the fuck were we thinkinng?
-
@Jaloopa
Totally read that party theme as "underwear" themed first, and was like "well, I suppose babies and toddlers are prone to wandering around in their underwear, so that's not completely weird?"I need more caffeine (or to put my glasses back on)

-
@Jaloopa
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I know where the issue is, but I was hoping to get some confirmation before I put the "slowdown loop" in to hack around the problem, since deploying this past dev involves multiple people and the problem mostly happens in Stage and Prod (but not Dev). Alas, poor Yorick...
