@JazzyJosh Time for round two - the Sequence round where the question is "What comes fourth in the sequence?"
Here's the first:
"1 of 4: $1 Obverse"
-
Status: I survived a long weekend somehow. Looking forward to more of them, but with more preparation perhaps.
Space Engineers: We made it to just outside mars' gravity well, in a ship with two other ships stuck to it and one merged on. Took a long time, and we had to keep saving and quitting as our ship went insane and started spinning. Bot it was a net gain, and fun.
Path of Exile: Helped a friend rush through the first two acts. Nothing interesting to report: the new gems aren't in yet.
Vindictus: A friend visited, and we played that a bit. Made it just into Hoarfrost Hollow.
Xenoverse 2: Got Ultimate Cell to around level 40, around the beginning of the android saga.
Factorio: I bought this game, and did almost nothing else yesterday. Managed to automate blue science potions!

Turn inertial dampeners on attached ships off, you noob

Ah. That would save a lot of terror. Thanks for the tip!

Oh, right.
That's a thing.
Keep them on on your stations though, unless you like recreating this scene:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3lcGnMhvsA
Except worse, because you're probably rotating in the X,Y, and Z axis.

You'd think that debris would have stopped falling off that thing after the first ten seconds...
-
@Tsaukpaetra Probably.
Don't care though, because damn that scene looks good in IMAX. Shivers up my spine the entire time.
-
@sloosecannon I think it shouldn't matter if your stations are static grids? I don't remember having those problems with stations, but I tend to like to build mine on/in asteroids:

Ah. I had to watch it just now with no sound because speakers in the workplace is
, so I had it play at 2x speed because visually it's not all that impressive...

I've had stations go ballistic (uh, literally in one case, because gravity) after being bumped or something. I think it happens sometimes, not sure what causes them to go from "Station" to "Ship" mode (aside from the convert to Ship button, obviously)

Oh yeah, the soundtrack is easily half of the shivers.

And yes, that was impressive. It left a not-insignificant-sized crater in the ground. And........ there were no survivors.
Protip: Build your stuff outside planet gravity, or make sure you've got engines to stop you from hurtling to your doom...
-
@sloosecannon said in The Official Status Thread:
there were no survivors.
So genetic seeding of the target failed?

the spinning is crazy when it happens.
Anyway, stations going free when they're not anchored by a voxel has been a thing for a while recently. In the dev versions, they've let you disable it, but I like it.

Indeed.
Also, by that point it was technically an unmanned station, so 0/0 crew survived. (I evacuated the station the moment it started falling and I determined I couldn't put engines on in time...)

That doesn't sound realistic at all...

Or switch to StarMade, where collision physics are disabled because they cause CPUs to explode instead of your virtual ships...

Literally LOL'd. 100% true.

Generally, voxels mean (large) asteroids, or planets, which don't move ingame.
-
@mott555 That said, I do need to check out Space Engineers again. I shelved it while waiting for performance improvements and bug fixes. It was nigh unplayable the last time I tried it.

Yeah, it's not too bad now.
If you ram two large ships into each other, your CPU might chug for a bit, but it'll probably make it out.
-
@mott555 They're on the cusp of replacing all the old models with higher fidelity ones which, because of DX11 magic, will also perform better. We don't know when this will happen, because they've been teasing it for months, but it could be this Thursday even.
-
@Magus said in The Official Status Thread:

From what I heard it's more that they moved some processing over to GPU and freeing up the CPU a bit finally, since the whole damned thing is CPU bound when it comes to most stuff you do in the game.

What is the fourth clue in this sequence?
"1 of 4: $1 Obverse"
"2 of 4: $2 Obverse"
"3 of 4: Not on current bank notes"
?

@JazzyJosh James Monroe.
-
@boomzilla Doesn't match the format of the clues, but even if it did, incorrect. Nice attempt. What sequence were you trying for?
-
@JazzyJosh Presidents from Virginia.
