Buying a dedicated server for virtualization is like getting a new shelf. You might not think you need all that space, but a month later it's full to the brim and you're strapped for space again.
Especially when the memory requirements to run are no longer in the 500mb range...
nah, they still are, just use a better operating system.
windows might choke on less than 2GB these days (or whatver the bloat it is) but you can still run a single purpose linux machine on 256 meg if you choose the right distro and avoid installing unecessary crap.

My school may be dumb with getting me a $300 loan (when it already had ~100k to just shove onto from the federal loans...), but at least the payment site (for this specific servicer) is dead simple and easy.'course, it loses points for being a straight-up from-the-examples MVC template site...

I'm wondering what is actually in
Exception
? Is it a stack trace? If so, it's in severe danger of being horribly too small. 20k would be more like a sensible amount. (Yes, I work with software that produces the exception traces from hell, virtually all of which is utterly useless info. Most of the time…)

My company recently gave everyone a reusable plastic cup, supposedly for wellbeing to encourage us all to drink more water. Certainly not to cut down on the number of disposable cups they buy, oh no definitely not. It's for our own good.
They also replaced the hot water dispenser with one that didn't work and has now been sitting awaiting repair for 2 months now. We're reduced to using kettles like animals

Also, ALT+SPACE brings up the menu.
So even if the window opens offscreen (looking at you SQL Server Profiler), you can ALT+SPACE, M and then arrow the window back into view.
This only works with decorated windows. If you know a way to move borderless windows, please tell me. I haven't found any.

This used to be a fun way to test how malloc kept track of free memory blocks:
#include <stdlib.h> #define LOTS 1000000 #define NOTLOTS 8192 int main(void) { char* hog[LOTS]; for (int i=0; i < LOTS; i++) { hog[i]=malloc(NOTLOTS); } for (int i=0; i < (LOTS-1); i+=2) { free(hog[i]); } char* kicker=malloc(NOTLOTS+1); return 0; }

Status: Yelling at one guy who began his argument with "When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail!" - only then to espouse the virtues of MongoDB over relational DBs in an area which is usually consisting of highly relational data, concluding with: "If you're trying to make MongoDB behave like a relational DB, you're doing it wrong!"
Well, maybe so. But there surely is a reason why one is trying to emulation relations in MongoDB. Maybe that's because such a data structure is the best way to structure the data?
Naw, can't be it. We'd rather denormalize it to hell and gone and then have to pray to Glod that someone thinks of every occurence of a data instance when doing something like "UPDATE Prices"

Find whoever used a hashtag in a company memo and murder them. Please. No one will convict you.
I would say "ask the idiot how much water is involved in washing these reusable containers and how does that compare to the 'carbon footprint' we're apparently saving".
But the answer would be "I don't give a fuck. That's YOUR water at home you'll be using. The company's carbon footprint (landfill specific) is going to go down-- on paper anyways. That's enough to earn us some carbon credit tax breaks-- which increase our profit-- which gives our CEOs a bonus. So fuck you."
