Status: FedEx happily re-delivered a package originally shipped Nov 2015 today.
See, standard procedure (at work) is that used toner cartridges just get placed in the outbox and the mail fetchers just Do The Right Thing and put them in with all the rest for recycling.Silly me did the same, but used the box's built-in re-closing tab so the cartridge wouldn't fall out of the box. Little did I know that apparently this was satisfactory enough for them to think it's securely fastened, and since I didn't obliterate the shipping label they scanned it in and dutifully re-shipped it right back to my home.
Edit: pics so you know it happened:

- Don't care about saving passengers
- Try a bit harder than most to uphold the law
- Don't try to alter course
- Prefer (not hitting?) Males
- Don't discriminate based on species

@Jarry OH, I thought you were just making a new forum skin. Awesome. This will definitely come in handy, being able to see the main thread with scum comments and club ded comments at the same time.

It's a federated digital content repository framework.
OK, that's probably flat gobbledegook. :-)
A digital content repository is glorified filestore, providing ways to hold a lot of files and their metadata (who made it, when did they make it, what is it, what's a summary of the content, what's the access control policy, what's the archiving policy, that sort of thing), while handling what happens when you move the data around (new hardware, moving to tape, etc.) It also remembers things like the fact that a bunch of files belong together, that one set of data is derived from another, and other advanced features like that.
Now, there's a number of cases where you've got digital artefacts relating to a subject that are stored in many DCRs. It might be because of collaborations or because of different universities having budgets for acquisitions at different times or just sheer luck. It can also be because the overall corporation owns many subsidiaries that have objects retained in different jurisdictions and yet they want to provide a more unified view (I guess; this is outside my direct experience). This is where the federation bit really comes into play; the digital objects aren't moved around (or rather that's totally independent) but the knowledge about what's there and where to go and ask about it is spread around. If the software is set up right in all the locations, it's semi-transparent to the end user as to where the data really is (except when they come to actually retrieving it; moving something large over the internet still takes time).
Hydra is a framework/toolkit for building these things. It can't be just dropped into play straight off, as there's a lot of configuration of policies to do, and you typically want a custom web front-end on it too (showing the right logos, providing easier UIs, etc.) but with the core of the application done right, there's less for a jobbing web programmer to fuck up.
If you're not doing really large datastores that you're sharing with others, you probably don't want Hydra. (Also, when the site talks about Fedora, they're not talking about the Linux distribution. Instead, they're talking about the other software system called Fedora. IIRC, there was some legal action and in the end the various groups involved agreed to not sue each other as mostly people weren't actually confused by it in practice, at least among the groups of customers that each side had.)

Unfortunately, I preemptively (correctly) assumed certain aspects of the end from initiation, but it did not detract from the experience! It does make me wonder though... If I had a strongly-defined purpose, what lengths would I go through to achieve it?
At what point should my destiny no longer be priority over others?Perhaps the answer to that is exactly why I don't really have one...
.... And now I'm sad. Time to watch something uplifting, like a peaceful run of Undertale!

My menu key does not look like a 3 dot menu. It looks like a list with a box around it.

No, that's 10 seconds before BOOTMGR takes over.
It actually takes quite a bit longer for things to settles down....

I have nothing to worry about. I'll just get a child of 5 to point out the dumb problems ahead of time and fix them immediately. Lack of ice cream is an obvious problem, for example.

i don't know about you but ten seconds is about 3 times longer than MY ENTIRE WINDOWS COLD BOOT TIME*
- On Tsukiyomi, when there are no updates sceduled, and there often aren't because i update often. my laptops are about 8 seconds each for teh same process.

MY ENTIRE WINDOWS COLD BOOT TIME
Most of the boot time on my home Windows machine is spent in the BIOS. (What's it doing? I don't know.) The time to launch Windows after that is rather short. However, just because you've got to a login screen or even have logged in doesn't mean that the system is really all there yet. Some things take time. (Not hugely long; I've got masses of memory, an SSD and a decent net connection.)
Did I have a point?
-
@Tsaukpaetra I am fairly certain that timer sucks.
Mine reports more than 2 hours spent in BIOS the last time around.

Yeah, but for me it's not that far off. It's about a full minute before typical usability is achieved.
