Is it Windows? Did it die during an update?

No, it's an Acer.

Eggnog? Before Thanksgiving? Philistine.

My Chromebook used to be made by SAMSUNG but now it's made by G. Last week it was made by U G.
The device itself is great, but the glued-on metal letters don't hold up too well.
-
And you didn't rearrange it to "ANUS?" What's wrong with you, man.
EDIT: I would also have accepted "ASS"
-
The letters are basically stickers but less structurally sound. Also, they fell off in pieces.

Status: misclicked on this thread, which I don't follow in the slightest, and pretty much being struck speechless for several seconds in astonishment at the post it happened to take me to. I work for the company that makes that tool, though I don't really work on it myself.I'll see what the deal is about what is going on (I... I think I probably see it, actually) and what can be done. If it's what I am 98% sure it is it's trivial to fix on our end, but that doesn't help anyone until next release. (Unless we offer patches for something like this? Or intermediate builds? I don't even know, I'm removed from the product, haven't been here very long, and don't work at the main company location so I haven't really absorbed any of that side of things by osmosis... Edit: /me looks at manual. Oh hey look apparently you can fix this without getting a formal patch from us, still assuming that what I think is wrong is actually wrong and that the change won't cause other problems. I'll ask around sometime this week. Might not be until later in the week though, depending on how what I'm working on now goes.)

this is the tenth time that's happened with this app. never exhibits the problem in Dev, Test or Staging, only in production, and EVERY TIME i hook a debugger up to PROD the issue goes away!
Have a similar-ish problem myself. The service spins off independent processes to gather system info, simple stuff like running
ifconfig
and such. In prod, and in prod only one or multiple of those processes gets left behind as a zombie. All processes are started by the same generic function, and there isn't nearly enough zombies for all of them doing it.Yeah, I know, SNMP, no time to learn and implement it, I'm swamped.

Status: giving up. Asterisk refuses to cooperate, and working on this connection remotely is too painful. I need this done by noon on Monday. It's going to be an interesting morning...
In other news, opened a cloud9 account, going to test if I can get Qt5 libs on there. If I can, I might share my eventual "interface to Discourse" project there.
Edit:
http://i.imgur.com/iUus2vC.pngSuccess! Seems to be a tad behind on repos (no websockets module), but good enough.

Cloud9! i use them!
So far, looks nice. I'm impressed at how fast installing stuff is. Must be one hell of a RAID (I kinda doubt it's all on SSDs). Will upload a barebones project tomorrow, CBA to write
.pro
files myself, too lazyIs there a way to set up an SSH and/or FTP connection to the instance? All I saw in options is connecting to my own server from the cloud9 instance, not the other way around.

no, sadly. that would be a hell of a premium feature though.

Oh well, will deal with the file upload I guess. Or just SCP stuff off my own file storage.
I'm going to buttume it's a NAT issue, damn IPv4 keeping the geek down!

Status: fuck iTunes. Every single attempt to sync my music library ends about 1/5th of a way in, dropping the connection to the iPod dead, hanging iTunes in the process, and either removing all music, or forcing a restore.
Downloaded a foobar plugin that hasn't been supported in like 4 years, and it works flawlessly. WTF happened, Apple?

(Is the weather always this nice here, or does it sometimes rain? I've been suffering from dehydration all week it's been that dry…)

ITunes is the main reason I don't want to own an iPhone or another iPod ever. It's not too bad on a Mac but the Windows version is just awful.

Status: Just saw the movie "Now you see me". Started out great, kind of like Oceans Eleven. I was hoping I found an unjustly overlooked gem. And then, it just sort of fell apart in the end. I hate it when movies think they are smarter than they are.

sunny Portland, OR.
I can't speak specifically about Portland, but 3 hours north we've been having a stretch of beautiful, clear, sunny but chilly weather. That's due to end Thursday, according to the forecast. It's unusual; November is normally our wettest month. (Wikipedia tells me that's true in Portland, too, although only slightly wetter than December.)(Is the weather always this nice here, or does it sometimes rain?

Status: "here's a new version of the Excel reports, make the code to get the data from it based on the old version". Except the new and old report are nothing alike, have about 20-30% of the same data, there are no docs as to what I'm supposed to get out of the reports, actually there are no docs whatsoever, and I have no idea how the data are later used, so every single change to the incoming data can potentially break one of the hundreds of sprocs or make the app choke and die.
"Go figure it out". Yeeeeah...

a pissing contest.
The key to these is drink LOTS of coffee beforehand.

Status: So occasionally I have to generate a monthly report for some crap and send it off as excel file. Paste SQL into SSMS, adjust parameters by hand, exec, copy/paste into excel. Rinse/repeat for however many months.
Except this time, I was supposed to generate it for the entire year.

I'm not sure what that is but it looks cool. Are you working on a ray-tracing engine or something?

Yes. I can't figure out what's causing the flickering lighting and the half-shaded-darker stuff.
Here's the project if you have free time and want to look at it for some reason:

So you're the one who got me sick!

If I felt better, I might be wittier and come up with some clever "computer virus" joke. Not in the cards today though.

If you're feeling as crappy as I am, I'm surprised you came up with that much.
