This is why I never worked from home, except in case of dire emergency, when the kids were little — except it was usually the wife more than the kids.

Is it just me, or are pub menus absolutely losing the plot? Not only on pricing, but the content is getting a bit absurd.
For 14 bucks a pair of fish tacos had best be a euphemism. And wtf is a GOAT CHEESE VEGGIE EMPANADA?

@all_users i tought magic numbers were standard practice in network code
that's my problem - i'm used to not having to have majic numbers dotted all over the place; but in order to get that stuff sorted seemed to be the quickest way of getting it finished
the code that generates the packets is in c and more readable - packed structs containing uint32_t, char x[MAX_LEN_OF_FOO], int64_t etc (in fact i put the source code of those structs in comments in the lua code)
the lua code works, it doesnt crash, but i'm not proud of it in the slightest

This is why I never worked from home
I tried working from home once when I thought I could be more productive than being at work because of refurbishments/network reinstallation
fuck all got done because my other half insisted on talking to me all the fucking time despite knowing i was supposed to be working, tv on with their programs on in the background and, to a much lesser extent, pet showing an interest in my being at home during the day
never again. not while they're at home during the day anyway
and this sums up not only that day working from home, but frequently in the office as well:

Early generations were... special. This latest has been the first (well, at least in the first few seasons) to pretend they're not actually out there to sell toys. And do a fairly good job at it too (I may not have room to speak, my family has gifted me a plush and a vinyl figurine...).

Ours is a cute little sticker on the license plate. And I'll be arsed if I have to go looking at my truck's butt every now and then to check whether it's expired...

Status:
Just got an e-mail by someone from http://sourced.ai/ who thinks that according to my "code contributions on GitHub" I'd be a good fit for a company in Berlin in a 80k €/y "Senior Fullstack Engineer" position
My GitHub repo contains:
- Two versions of a 5 year old custom user management system for a student's dormitory based an YUI, RoR and an unholy mess of spaghetti code (I really regret the RoR part).
- A website I did for my dad's primary school
- A website I'm currently developing using Meteor, React and Material Design.
I guess that somehow checked all the boxes this position asks for: Rails, React, TDD and Material Design.
Not quite sure what the hell "Scrumban Agile methodology" is supposed to be - I recognize the words but I'm pretty certain they're not supposed to be combined like that...

That's probably why Texas puts it on your windshield instead of your plate.
When I lived in MA, IIRC you put the registration sticker on your plate and the inspection sticker on your windshield. Texas used to have them both on the windshield but this year they got rid of the inspection sticker. Now, instead of getting a sticker when you get your inspection, they notify the state, and when you get your registration, they don't grant it if there's no record of a timely inspection.

@Rhywden I got an offer from Google once based on "my contributions to opensource software projects Google monitors". This was pre github.
My Opensource activities to date had been reporting an obscure Debian Sparc bug that still hasn't been fixed and I may have talked about some OpenTTD code once.

I haven't made a single UWP program to date.Geeze, I should've applied. Though my ideas for that one would require every pupil of my class to have one device.
Seriously, this would make all those two- and three-dimensional problems so much easier to teach. Also: Visualization of normally invisible stuff like field vectors of coils and capacitors.

I could test any potential App all the TDWTF members could send the source for.
In theory, if you have an open source app that uses DirectX and has portable enough code I might even be able to build it, but that's highly unlikely.

Not sure about IRL objects (yet), but definitely in-game objects.
I'll let you know once I get my "Just put a white cube in front of the user" app working, ;)
