Did not see that on mobile. Looked very different...
See, when your phone's think they have tiny screens and this everything is humongous and thus the composer and everything else is practically unusable, this is what happens.
No issues here using a sensible mobile.

Holy shit, it's a genocide of addons in the latest Firefox version. Mozilla is really in a rush to get rid of the last few loyalists they still have.
You let Firefox update? There's your problem.
-
@Lorne-Kates Indeed. Security patches are for chumps!
-
@blakeyrat Well sheet.
Either moving the GPU or the driver install afterwards fixed the issue with GW2. Well sheet.
-
@anonymous234 This is how it looks like (we dark-themers are grateful that del/ins work now):
-
@dse WELL MAYBE YOU DARK-THEMERS SHOULD GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT HERE.
Sorry. I'm not racist. Some of my best friends are dark CSS themes.

This is the modern version:
I'm not racist. Where is my dark CSS? Look at him, aren't you the greatest [dark-CSS]?.

Status: And once again, a pupil tried to fly his copy&pasted works by me. Didn't work.
But I didn't recognize the plagiarism due to my Google-fu. No. He actually made it easy for me:
That's a screenshot directly from the document. And, yes, those are hyperlinks.
As for the rest of them: I don't think they'll ever learn that when they c&p "fancy" words we teachers get suspicious immediately?

My first clue would have been that the student doesn't speak German...
-
Well, if the big words make their eyes roll back in the head, surely they'll impress teach too.

@Rhywden Pfft. Obvious cheat, it's not even in English.

Status: looks like the overnight soaking I gave my mechanical keyboard after spilling soda on it didn't fully recover it--the backspace key and a couple others are twitchy. Not sure if I want to try the next step, which is unsoldering individual switches so they can be disassembled and re-lubricated (or possibly just replacing the switches).

I ordered some replacement switches from Hong Kong for a few euro, but I haven't had the time to try and install them.

Stuff that one of our cats, affectionally known as Mengele, has left on our front porch during the night:

You know, like when you want to search for "google analytics" or something, and it auto-completes to Google (Default): and you have to type "google" again? So annoying.

@cartman82 I think I changed mine to googlesearch or something.

@aliceif Yeah but it didn't have 4 eyeballs.
-
@blakeyrat I thought you spent two of them to pay for email services?
-
@cartman82 I haven't soldered in decades and I'd have to buy an iron. Not sure if I wanna bother right now. Might get a nicer keyboard than the one I had before--a backlit one, or one with macros or something.

In college, I had an uber-hunter cat--I think I've mentioned this before. One day one of my housemates got annoyed with her tripping him so he yelled at her and tossed her outside. Later that day when we all came home we found 9 dead mice. She'd left several in front of each door.

This joke is much better after I got the context, puting things on order:
@cartman82 said in Gmail doesn't let you move emails into "Sent Mail" for... reasons?:
@blakeyrat You should really make at least your mail email address truly your own. As in, pay someone to host it.
@blakeyrat said in Gmail doesn't let you move emails into "Sent Mail" for... reasons?:
@cartman82 It is my own, and I do. I pay in eyeballs.
And in this thread:
@aliceif said in The Official Status Thread:

@fbmac yes, that was the context. I felt that explaining it myself in the post would ruin the punchiness of the post though, so...
-
By request of @onyx I'm reposting this in public from the yamirant thread:
Come on, brain! We need to write non-technical examples to explain technical concepts! Why you no work?
E_NO_CAFFEINE
I just gave you caffeine like, two minutes ago. Something? Anything?
...bees?
Sure, bees. Whatever. The farmer needs to track his bees.
On mars!
.... for srs? Whatever.Appropriateness is the final attribute. If the user needs to track the number of bumblebees on their honey farm, and we deliver a complete, accurate simulation of what bees would be like on Mars, we’ve ultimately done nothing to help the user with their actual problem.
-
@r10pez10 The fuck is the point of that then?
-
@cartman82 said in The Official Status Thread:

Yes.
dd
has the distinction of being opaque and different and is usually used for things that will break your computer thoroughly if you get it wrong, so that's one which brings out the old cold sweat when encountered. There's also
openssl
, but that's just unfair.
-
@dkf It's scary even if you remember that 'if' is "input file" and 'of' is "output file"
Because they're one character apart.
One character between bliss and horror.

@Boner Can't be the only problem going on. I had a webapp take 950 seconds to boot up this morning instead of the usual ~3. No idea what was going on; it just paused part way for nearly 16 minutes…

Status:
The universe cannot allow me to be done with this wretched project.
I may have finally completed development, but I now have to wait for the person who can approve the access no-one told me I'd need to get back to his desk, so that I can wait for the access request to be actioned, so that I can raise a request to deploy my work to the test environment and wait for that to be actioned.
And then deal with whatever crops up next to prevent me from finishing this. There will be something.

It is a good example, but if I were to mention it just once during a lecture I know there are at least five people who are going to misinterpret the entire course and only write about how good it is to keep bees on Mars in the exams.

@CarrieVS hey, at least progress is being made after all the doom and gloom you predicted.
So, grats on getting this far either way!
