At first I thought the reCaptcha pictures were neat.
Then I realize they only have, like, 6 of them
- Storefront (does an office count)
- River (does the lake, bay, gulf or ocean count)
- Food
- Cakes (does pie count as cake?)
- Street sign
- Construction vehicles

A final little fuck you from the W10 update malware.
This is popping up 2-3 times a day. It figures this piece of shit would have a Hitler's bunker kind of ending. Trying to exert the maximum amount of annoyance until its final breath.
The solution is simple : just give in and install Win10

Or an AI.
See, here's the thing.
Google isn't doing reCAPTCHA out of the good of their hearts.
It's twofold:
- More cross-site ubiquitous tracking
- Free crowdsourced training of machine learning / AI / image recognition algos.
Hail to the rise of the robots.

Do you at least have the base seasonings to make taco seasoning?
Which are?
I can usually get most spices. What I can't get all those fancy prepackaged doughs and sauces, to help out lazy American cooks cram more calories into their butts.
-
@cartman82 I use chili powder, paprika, and cumin.

It's mostly cumin. And chili powder.
But there are recipes, just google 'what's in taco seasoning.'

If you hate Americans so much, why the fuck do you even want to make our recipes? Go fuck off and eat your goulash or whatever the fuck garbage you constantly cram into your Euro-mouth.

Doughs-- only for phyllo pasty, or puff pastry. If only because they're a real bitch to make, and the pre-rolled, frozen ones I can buy are exactly what I would have made anyways.
Sauces though-- nope. Make just about any sauce is super easy, and my version will have orders of magnitude less salt, sugar, fat and preservatives.
Taco seasoning: fuck you, it's like four different spices. Make your own, put it in a mason jar and keep it in the cupboard. You can probably make a lifetime supply in a 500ml jar.

Don't ask me, I can't think of a worse form of media to communicate a recipe than a gif. I don't know why anybody would be looking at gif recipes.

They're good at making a recipe look really simple by cutting out all the complicated stuff that you actually need to know, so they're super appealing until you try to follow one

Me, 20 minutes ago: Oh cool, IIS can be configured as reverse proxy. And it's all GUI, no obtuse config files. Fantastic, let me just quickly configure this simple rewrite.
Me, now: FUCK YOU IIS, Y WON'T YOU WORK!? I need my haproxy back.

Somebody upvoted one of my posts that was later Jeffed. The notification took me to actual the post, even though it had been moved. NodeBB does some things right, at least.
-
@HardwareGeek it does now. Of course, it means after clicking a notification to a post you have to click back twice to get back to where you were, but that's a small price to pay
-
@cartman82 said in The Official Status Thread:

The real advantage of config files is that they can be copied over easily.
You can even store them in Git and keep track of changes. Then you can go full-retard and use a Git-GUI to do it !
-
@cartman82 said in The Official Status Thread:

Should be able to find a similar enough substitute.
@cartman82 said in The Official Status Thread:
taco seasoning
Can probably roll your own.
@cartman82 said in The Official Status Thread:
cayenne peppers
Might be more difficult, but you could probably use something else for that too.
@cartman82 said in The Official Status Thread:
prepackaged dough
Either you can find some or make something just similar enough.

Eh, IIS website configs are all XML files. So they do have that advantage too.

Weird, I was dreaming of creating a fake PCI Audio driver (that looks like a PCI-connected device) so that SRS Audio Sandbox would send audio data to it, but would really just be a clone of Virtual Audio Cable so that I can use said program on my IoT device that apparently uses a UART-based sound chip that it doesn't recognize.
I got stuck when trying to generate a signing certificate. The horror!

Now of course, I get to rant about how I can't access my own posts due to another user's actions (I'm assuming it wasn't mod-

Mmm, click bait for nerds.
And seriously, /. editors? You passed that AC submitter's tin foil straight through uncut and unsourced, and then later go back with a little "oh we couldn't (read as: didn't bother to) verify any of the submitter's opinion statements in the summary, so you know, not our views nudge nudge wink wink"
Apparently /. editors are like the Donald Trump of geekdom.
